WoW Forever Priest Abilities and Spells by Level
A Priest in WoW Forever trains 51 abilities between levels 1 and 60, and Forever rewrites the race-specific ones. Fear Ward is no longer Dwarf-only and Devouring Plague is no longer Undead-only, while Gnome, Human, Dwarf and Undead Priests get new racial spells such as Confounding Flash, Divine Grace, Chastise and Dark Sacrifice. Every Priest also gets Shadow Word: Death at 32, and Divine Spirit and Lightwell are now trainer spells instead of talents.
Set your level in the planner below: it hides what you already know and shows what you learn at that level and at the next visits. Under it, the same data is written out level by level: every new Priest ability and every stronger rank from 1 to 60, the key abilities and when you get them, what changed against Classic, the spells that come from talents, and the full Priest spell list for each specialization.
WoW Forever Priest Abilities by Level
A Priest in WoW Forever has 51 abilities with trainer ranks: 47 arrive as new spells, and 4 start with a talent point before the trainer sells the higher ranks. The trainer has something for you on 30 levels: level 1, then every even level from 4 to 60, so plan a visit every two levels. The tables below split the 1 to 60 journey into six steps; the first column is the level, the second the abilities you learn for the first time, the third the new ranks with their rank number. Abilities marked (quest) come from a class quest rather than the trainer.

What Changed for Priest Abilities in WoW Forever
Forever adds damage and utility to every Priest. Shadow Word: Death is a new finisher at 32, Divine Spirit and Lightwell no longer need talent points, and Penance and Prayer of Mending come from new talents. Healing spells scale much better with spell power than in Classic, and Power Word: Fortitude lasts an hour.
These 8 abilities moved the most: they are new in Forever, come earlier than in Classic, no longer need a talent, or have a new name.
| Ability | Level | Change against Classic |
|---|---|---|
| Confounding Flash | 10 | Not in Classic |
| Divine Grace | 10 | Not in Classic |
| Contingency Plan | 20 | Not in Classic |
| Chastise | 20 | Not in Classic |
| Dark Sacrifice | 20 | Not in Classic |
| Divine Spirit | 30 | A Discipline talent in Classic; trained without one now |
| Shadow Word: Death | 32 | Not in Classic; Season of Discovery had a spell by this name |
| Lightwell | 40 | A Holy talent in Classic; trained without one now |
Another 26 Priest spells keep their level but have new numbers: damage, healing, cost, cooldown or spell power scaling. Hover a spell in the planner above to see what changed for that exact rank.
Priest Abilities That Come From Talents
Some Priest abilities start as a talent. You put the point into the talent tree to get the first rank, and after that the trainer sells the higher ranks like any other spell. Others stay talent-only and the trainer never teaches them. The earliest level is when you can reach that row of the tree with every point in it.
| Ability | Talent tree | Ranks from the trainer |
|---|---|---|
| Holy Nova | Holy | Rank 2 at 28, Rank 3 at 36, Rank 4 at 44, Rank 5 at 52, Rank 6 at 60 |
| Mind Flay | Shadow Magic | Rank 2 at 28, Rank 3 at 36, Rank 4 at 44, Rank 5 at 52, Rank 6 at 60 |
| Penance | Discipline | Rank 2 at 40, Rank 3 at 50, Rank 4 at 60 |
| Prayer of Mending | Holy | Rank 2 at 50, Rank 3 at 60 |
| Inner Focus | Discipline | Talent only, from level 20 |
| Vampiric Embrace | Shadow | Talent only, from level 25 |
| Silence | Shadow | Talent only, from level 30 |
| Power Infusion | Discipline | Talent only, from level 40 |
| Shadowform | Shadow | Talent only, from level 40 |
You can plan these points in our WoW Forever Priest talents guide, which explains every tree and the builds for leveling, dungeons and PvP.

Priest Trainer Tips for Leveling
Priests have the most ranks to buy of any class, so plan your gold:
- Level 20 is a huge visit with Flash Heal, Holy Fire, Fear Ward and your racial spells, so arrive with gold.
- Level 60 is the largest visit of any class with 27 spells and ranks, and level 50 has another 20.
- If you level as Shadow, buy every rank of Shadow Word: Pain and Mind Blast first; ranks of Mind Soothe and Shackle Undead can wait.
- Shadow Word: Death at 32 deals backlash if the target survives, so use it as an execute.
For the route, rotation and gear while you level, see our WoW Forever Priest leveling guide.
