Professions in World of Warcraft: Forever get far more to do than in Classic. Over 600 new recipes are spread across the professions and their level ranges, many existing recipes have been overhauled, crafted food now grants stats and a small experience bonus, and the new Camping system turns tradeskills into buffs for everyone sitting at the fire.
The first hard numbers came from the Deep Dive panel slides and the BlizzCon demo: Blacksmithing's three camp objects, six recipe tooltips with their reagents, a reworked First Aid list with curatives and healing potions, and the Legacy perks that speed up skill gains. WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
Over 600 new recipes are spread across the professions and their level ranges, and many existing recipes have been overhauled as well. You feel your profession choice early. The panel put the goal plainly: tradeskills should become an important part of progression. Blizzard plans to keep adding recipes, materials and crafted items as the game evolves, and the summer 2027 major update is planned to bring professions and Legacy updates. In the demo the profession window itself looked closer to modern WoW than to Classic.
The hooks start early. Every starting path gains new NPCs, quests, profession hooks and recipes, while advanced Blueprint recipes drop from specific dungeon bosses, so crafters have their own reason to run dungeons.
Two racials lean into tradeskills. Tauren Cultivation grows bonus herbs that don't require Herbalism to gather, and Gnome Engineering Specialization makes engineering devices more reliable.
The Tradeskills slide showed three Blacksmithing plans, one each for the low, middle and top of the skill range:
| Recipe | Skill | Result needs level | Reagents | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plans: Crusader's Boots | Blacksmithing 85 | 17 | Bronze Bar (12), Coarse Grinding Stone (2), Pristine Leather (4), Lesser Magic Essence (5) | Mail feet: 131 Armor, +4 Strength, +5 Stamina, up to 6 spell damage and healing |
| Plans: Officer's Pauldrons | Blacksmithing 210 | 42 | Mithril Bar (20), Solid Grinding Stone (2), Sandpaper (6), Sulfuric Acid (4), Jade (8), Large Glowing Shard | Plate shoulder: 375 Armor, +13 Strength, +8 Agility, +10 Stamina |
| Plans: Enriched Thorium Breastplate | Blacksmithing 300 | 57 | Legionite Bar (8), Heavy Thorium Bar (24), Essence of Air (4), Essence of Fire (4), Azerothium Bar (4) | Plate chest: 647 Armor, +25 Stamina, +9 Defense, up to 14 spell damage and healing |
All three plans are Soulbound, and the crafted pieces bind when picked up. Two of the three put spell damage and healing on mail and plate, which suits hybrid specs.
WoW Forever Class Changes
Camping turns the Cooking profession's simple Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire. Place one in the open world and it becomes a campsite with vendors, repairs, profession workspaces and one-hour buffs, plus a natural spot to refresh food buffs. The buffs take a moment. Sit by the fire for a few moments and get rested first.
The rules are short. A Basic Campfire holds up to three crafted objects, one per player, and every camping feature shares a one-hour cooldown. Every profession has three objects learned at different skill levels, and whichever one you place, the profession gives its own buff or utility; the buffs are variants of class buffs and do not stack with them. The first objects come at skill 20, from NPCs who introduce camping or from profession trainers, and the more advanced ones from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses.
| Profession | Camp object | Skill | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blacksmithing | Sharpening Wheel | 20 | You and others sitting nearby gain 34 Strength; exclusive with Strength of Earth Totem |
| Blacksmithing | Anvil | 140 | All of the Sharpening Wheel's benefits; can be placed over a Sharpening Wheel to replace it |
| Blacksmithing | Master Forge | 300 | Usable for recipes that require it, plus all of the Sharpening Wheel's benefits; can be placed over a Sharpening Wheel to replace it |
| First Aid | First Aid Kit | 20 | You and others sitting nearby gain 34 Stamina; exclusive with Power Word: Fortitude |
| Tailoring | Faction Banner | Not shown | Increases Spirit |
| Herbalism | Incense Candle | Not shown | Increases Intellect |
| Leatherworking | Tanning Rack | Not shown | Required for more advanced Leatherworking recipes |
| Cooking | Upgraded Campfire | Not shown | Lets a camp hold 5 or 10 objects |
Alchemists can place an Alchemy Lab as well. Blacksmithing is the one profession whose full set of three objects has been shown, and it shows how the ladder works — the Anvil and the Master Forge carry the Sharpening Wheel's buff and replace it on the spot, and the Master Forge adds a crafting station for recipes that need one.
No joke, it is the most Classic idea of the whole reveal.
The Camping slide also showed how a crafter learns the first object. Smith Argus hands over Camping 101: Blacksmithing, which rewards the Sharpening Wheel and 270 experience, and the quest text sends you out of town: most folk don't care for camps in the center of town, and no camp is complete without a campfire, which most cooks can teach you to make.
Three demo perks plug into camping. Field Guide, in the Adventure tree, cuts your cooldown on adding camp features by 8% at its first rank. From Resourcefulness, Reagent Economy makes Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft, and Permanence makes the benefits of resting at a camp last 50% longer.
Food got a major update. Almost all crafted food now gives some form of stat boost plus a small experience bonus, and Fishing and Cooking were updated to serve alongside camping. Eat seated for at least 10 seconds and you become Well Fed for 15 minutes, and every food on the panel's cooking slide adds 5% more experience from kills.
Keep a food buff up while leveling.
| Recipe | Skill | Result needs level | Reagents | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Recipe: Tasty Raptor Bites | Cooking 25 | None listed | Raptor Egg, Mild Spices (4) | Restores 58 health over 18 sec; Well Fed: +1 Intellect and 5% more experience from kills for 15 min |
| Recipe: Giant Scrambled Eggs | Cooking 175 | 25 | Giant Egg (2), Hot Spices (4) | Restores 841 health over 27 sec; Well Fed: +10 Stamina and 5% more experience from kills for 15 min |
| Recipe: Bat Hachee | Cooking 275 | 45 | Meaty Bat Wing (3), Soothing Spices (2) | Restores 2,065 health over 30 sec; Well Fed: +20 Intellect and 5% more experience from kills for 15 min |
Cooks get the Upgraded Campfire on top of that, which lets a camp hold 5 or 10 objects instead of three.
On the Legacy side, Gourmand makes food buffs last 33% longer at its first rank. Master Chef gives cooking recipes a 10% chance to create an extra result, and Luremaster a 25% chance to catch an extra fish while a lure is active.
First Aid was the one profession open in the BlizzCon demo, and it has grown well past bandages. The demo window, at First Aid 225, sorts the recipes into four groups:
| Recipe | Category | Reagents | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Aid Kit | Camping | Linen Bandage (3), Refreshing Spring Water (1) | Camp object: you and others sitting nearby gain 34 Stamina; exclusive with Power Word: Fortitude; requires a Campfire nearby and First Aid 20 |
| Woolen Tourniquet | Curatives | Wool Cloth (2), Fine Thread (2) | Cures Bleed effects |
| Simple Poultice | Curatives | Spider Ichor (1), Mild Spices (1), Bottle of Dalaran Noir (1); makes 3 | Cures diseases |
| Anti-Venom | Curatives | Small Venom Sac (1); makes 3 | Cures poisons |
The Curatives are the big change. A First Aider now crafts answers to Bleeds, diseases and poisons — and the healing potions sit in the First Aid list too.
Field Medicine, a Legacy perk in the Adventure tree, cuts the Recently Bandaged effect by 5 seconds at its first rank. It does nothing in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds.
Skill milestones earn Legacy Points. On the panel slide the Tradeskills challenge list is split into Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring. Engineering's page holds three challenges, Journeyman, Expert and Artisan Engineer, for reaching 150, 225 and 300 skill for the first time, and each one is worth a single Legacy Point.
The points are shared across every character on the account, but each character spends them separately, up to 16 at launch, and the account can earn up to 65 at the start. The Professions tree holds seven named perks and two question-mark nodes whose tooltip reads "To be added in a future update", and five perks in the other two trees touch camping, food or bandages:
| Tree | Perk | Ranks | Effect at rank 1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professions | Working Overtime | 5 | Increases your chance to gain a skill increase from using any primary, secondary, or class-based tradeskill by 4% |
| Professions | Bountiful Harvest | 5 | You discover 20% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning (40% at rank 2) |
| Professions | Master Chef | 5 | Your cooking recipes have a 10% chance to create an extra result |
| Professions | Performance Bonus | 3 | 5% chance to receive 100% increased Merchant's Favor when you turn in a crate to the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics |
| Professions | Luremaster | 2 | While fishing with a lure active, 25% chance to catch an extra fish |
| Professions | Bartering | 2 | Reduces the gold price of items from all vendors by 5% |
| Professions | Dedicated Study | 1 | 25 sec cast, 23 hour cooldown: increases your skill by 1 in your lowest Primary or Secondary tradeskill; at 300 in both Primary and all three Secondary tradeskills, gives 2 to 4 of a random Elemental Essence instead |
| Adventure | Field Guide | 3 | Reduces your cooldown on adding camp features by 8% |
| Adventure | Field Medicine | 2 | Reduces the duration of Recently Bandaged by 5 sec when you use a bandage; ineffective in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds |
| Resourcefulness | Gourmand | 3 | Increases the duration of beneficial effects from eating food by 33% |
| Resourcefulness | Reagent Economy | 1 | Your class abilities no longer require reagents bought from vendors, and your Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft |
| Resourcefulness | Permanence | 2 | Long-duration party and raid buffs from your class abilities last 50% longer, and so do the benefits you gain from resting at a camp |
For what it's worth, Working Overtime and Dedicated Study are the two to take on a crafter alt, since both speed up skill gains directly. Bartering is the sleeper pick for any character, crafter or not: 5% off everything bought from vendors at its first rank.
Legacy as a whole, including the Adventure tree and the Progress Track rewards, is covered in our overview.
