WoW Forever Druid Guide

Updated 19 Oct 2026 | Author: Kir | ~13 min

The Druid is the one class in WoW Forever that can fill every role, and Blizzard spent most of its Druid work on removing the old reasons not to play it. Shapeshifted Druids can now drink potions, use racials, open doors and talk to NPCs without dropping form, their forms hit with their real weapon, and Nature's Grasp, Omen of Clarity and a new out-of-combat Revive come with the class instead of costing talent points.

Each spec also got its own identity. Balance builds a Wrath into Starfire rhythm through the new Eclipse talent, Feral splits into a Cat kit with Shifting Power and a Bear kit with Primal Bite and Lacerate, and Restoration gets Wild Growth. What the class still lacks is the same as in 2004: no snares, no interrupts and weaker crowd control than other classes.

This guide sums up every Druid change, lists the abilities you learn at each level, explains all five forms, compares Balance, Feral and Restoration and helps you pick a race before the November 4 launch.

Druid Changes in WoW Forever

Blizzard's stated goal for the Druid was to make shapeshifting feel fluid and useful across more of the game while keeping the class recognizable. Most changes fall into three groups: what you can do in form, which abilities are now baseline, and how individual spells were retuned.

Shapeshifting Without the Old Penalties

In original Classic, almost every action outside your form's own buttons cancelled the shift and cost you the mana to shift back. In Forever, these all work while shapeshifted:

The trade-off is that Feral damage now depends on your weapon. In Bear Form, Dire Bear Form and Cat Form your auto attack deals the DPS of your equipped weapon at a fixed speed of 1.0 or 2.5 seconds, and abilities that deal weapon damage use the same values. A weapon upgrade is now a real damage upgrade, and Feral Druids train a Feral Combat weapon skill like any other class. As of the October beta builds, all shapeshift forms are immune to Disarm, but a Druid disarmed before shifting deals reduced damage until the effect ends.

New Baseline Abilities

Several spells that used to cost talent points, or did not exist, now come with the class:

Ability Level What Changed
Nature's Grasp 10 Was a Balance talent; now baseline and usable in form and indoors
Revive 12 New out-of-combat resurrection next to Rebirth
Omen of Clarity 20 Was a Balance talent; now baseline, and Wrath never consumes the proc
Lacerate 42 New Bear bleed that stacks up to 5 times and generates high threat
Mark of the Wild 1 The old Improved Mark of the Wild bonus is now baseline for every Druid

Reworked Spells

Many familiar spells were retuned rather than replaced. The ones you will notice first:

Latest Beta Changes for Druid

The October beta builds kept adjusting the class. Bear Form and Dire Bear Form now generate 100% more Rage from critical strikes and have a 50% threat bonus instead of 30%. Moonkin Form and Leader of the Pack are no longer exclusive: Moonkin Form gives 3% spell crit and Leader of the Pack 3% melee and ranged crit, both raid-wide. Furor now keeps your Cat Form Energy even if you pass through Bear Form, though bear forms still stop Energy regeneration.

We compare every talent in all three trees with its Classic version in our WoW Forever Druid talents guide.

Druid Abilities and Spells by Level

A Druid learns new spells from the class trainer every two levels, while three forms come from class quests: Bear Form at 10, Aquatic Form at 16 and Cat Form at 20. Talent points start at level 10, one per level, for 51 points at 60.

The table lists the level at which you learn the first rank of each ability. Higher ranks of most spells arrive every few levels after that, so a quick trip to the trainer is worth it whenever a damage or healing spell gets a new rank.

Talents add the rest of the toolkit. The most important talented abilities are Primal Bite for Bears from level 25, Insect Swarm for Balance, Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness for Restoration, and the 31-point capstones Moonkin Form, Berserk and Wild Growth.

Our WoW Forever Druid leveling guide shows which of these spells to use at each stage from 1 to 60, with routes for both factions.

Druid Forms: Bear, Cat, Tree, Moonkin and Travel

Forms are what make the Druid a Druid. Each one swaps your action bar and changes your stats, and every shift frees you from Polymorph and movement-impairing effects. Shifting is not free, though: Bear Form and Cat Form each cost 55% of your base mana, so the habit of shifting only when you need to carries over from Classic.

Form Level How You Get It Used For
Bear Form 10 Class quest Tanking and AoE pulls with Rage
Aquatic Form 16 Class quest 50% faster swimming and breathing underwater
Cat Form 20 Class quest Melee damage with Energy and combo points, stealth with Prowl
Travel Form 30 Class trainer 40% movement speed outdoors
Dire Bear Form 40 Class trainer Upgraded Bear Form with more armor and health
Moonkin Form 40 Balance talent Spellcasting with a raid-wide spell crit aura

Bear and Dire Bear Form

Bear Form multiplies the armor from your items by 180% and adds health and Attack Power; Dire Bear Form at 40 raises the armor bonus to 360%. Forever makes the bear a much better tank than in Classic: a 50% threat bonus, 100% more Rage from crits, Swipe that scales with Attack Power, Lacerate at 42 and the Primal Bite talent. The redesigned Thick Hide talent also turns Defense skill into extra armor, so Druid tanks now benefit from Defense gear like Warriors do.

Cat Form

Cat Form turns your weapon damage into fast 1.0-second attacks and gives you Prowl for stealth openers. Your builders are Claw, Shred from behind and the Rake bleed, and your finishers are Rip and Ferocious Bite. Combo points stay on the target you built them on, even if you switch targets. The old powershifting trick is gone, because Energy now regenerates smoothly instead of in ticks of 20. Its place is taken by the Shifting Power talent, which turns mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown.

Moonkin Form

Moonkin Form is the 31-point Balance talent. It boosts the armor from your items by 360%, doubles the chance to trigger Omen of Clarity and gives every party and raid member within 45 yards 3% spell crit. You can cast every non-healing spell in Moonkin Form, not just Balance spells, so decursing no longer forces you out of form.

Travel and Aquatic Form

Travel Form gives 40% movement speed outdoors from level 30, which saves a lot of walking before your first mount. Aquatic Form makes you swim 50% faster and lets you breathe underwater. With the Feral Swiftness talent, Cat Form also runs 30% faster, and in Forever that bonus works indoors too.

Is There a Tree of Life Form in WoW Forever?

No. Restoration Druids heal in caster form in WoW Forever, and no talent or trainer teaches Tree of Life. A Tree of Life spell does appear in the Wowhead database, but it comes from Season of Discovery data next to an engraving rune and cannot be learned in Forever. Some players have asked Blizzard on the forums for a cosmetic tree form; there has been no answer so far.

Skyborne Druids have their own look for every form. Their forms exist only in high detail for now; standard-definition Skyborne forms are planned for early 2027.

Druid Specs: Balance, Feral and Restoration

Druids still have three talent trees, but Feral Combat now has two clear paths inside it, one for Cat damage and one for Bear tanking. That gives the class four roles in practice, and the raid tier set reflects it with four separate versions: Balance, Feral, Guardian and Restoration.

Spec Role Key New Talents Strengths Weaknesses
Balance Ranged caster DPS Eclipse, Overgrowth, Moonkin Form Cheap Wrath filler, multi-target roots, raid spell crit aura Slow solo leveling, high mana use on big spells
Feral (Cat) Melee DPS Shifting Power, Rend and Tear, Berserk Fastest leveling, stealth, raid melee crit aura Damage depends on weapon upgrades
Feral (Bear) Tank Primal Bite, Natural Reaction, Berserk Strong AoE threat, big health pool, potions in form No interrupt outside Feral Charge
Restoration Healer Gift of the Earthmother, Swiftmend, Wild Growth Party-wide HoTs, Rebirth and Innervate, now also Revive Smaller toolkit than a Priest, HoTs need planning

Balance

Balance is built around a simple loop: Wrath is cheap and never consumes Omen of Clarity, and every Wrath stores an Eclipse charge that cuts the cast time of your next Starfire. Damage over time comes from Moonfire and Insect Swarm, which moved from Restoration to Balance, and the new Genesis talent boosts all of them. Hurricane without a cooldown and Overgrowth, which roots up to three targets, give Balance real control over packs.

Feral

Feral is the best leveling spec and covers two group roles. Cats build combo points with Claw, Shred and Rake and use Shifting Power for burst Energy. Bears tank with Swipe, Maul, Lacerate and Primal Bite, which keeps the role of Mangle without its debuff. The 31-point Berserk serves both: for 15 seconds Primal Bite hits three targets with no cooldown, Cat combo builders gain 100% crit chance, and you become immune to Fear. Feral Charge now also has a Cat version that leaps behind the target.

Restoration

Restoration changed the least. It still heals with Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Healing Touch, but Regrowth is much cheaper, HoTs can now crit, and Swiftmend no longer removes the HoT it heals from. Gift of the Earthmother cuts the global cooldown of Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth by 0.5 seconds, and Wild Growth puts a fast heal over time on the target's whole party every 6 seconds. With Revive on top of Rebirth, a Restoration Druid can now bring back a fallen player in every dungeon.

Each spec has its own version of the raid set, and our WoW Forever Druid tier set guide lists the bonuses for all four along with the crafted pieces.

Best Races for Druid in WoW Forever

Four races can be Druids in Forever: Night Elf and High Order Skyborne for the Alliance, Tauren and Windshaper Skyborne for the Horde. Since racials now work in form, they matter more than they did in Classic, but the gap between them is small. Pick the race whose look and starting zone you like, then use the table to break a tie.

Race Faction Key Racials for a Druid Best Fit
Night Elf Alliance Elune's Light: +10% crit for 15 sec; Shadowmeld usable in combat; Quickness: dodge, run speed and harder-to-see stealth Feral Cat and PvP
High Order Skyborne Alliance Wind Blessed: +3% Haste; Read Leyline: double health and mana regeneration Balance and Restoration
Tauren Horde Endurance: +5% health and +2% crit damage and healing; War Stomp: AoE stun, now usable in form Bear tank and Restoration
Windshaper Skyborne Horde Wind Blessed: +3% Haste; Skysight: +10% movement speed; Walk on Air: a 10-sec glide Balance and Feral Cat

Both Skyborne branches also share Elemental Insight, which adds 5% damage against Elementals. Their regeneration and speed buffs last 15 minutes only near a leyline or elemental convergence, and only 30 seconds elsewhere. On the Horde side, Tauren is the safer pick for tanks thanks to the extra health and War Stomp; on the Alliance side, Night Elf wins for Feral and PvP because Elune's Light and Shadowmeld work in Cat Form.

WoW Forever Druid FAQ

These are the questions players ask most about the Druid before launch.

Is Druid good in WoW Forever?

Yes. Druid is the only class that can tank, heal and deal both melee and ranged damage, and Forever removed most of the old shapeshifting penalties. Its weakness is utility: Druids cannot snare, silence or interrupt like other classes.

What is the best Druid spec in WoW Forever?

For leveling, Feral is the fastest, because Cat Form and Bear Form use Energy and Rage and leave your mana for heals. At 60 it depends on the role your group needs: Bear for tanking, Restoration for healing, Cat or Balance for damage.

Can Druids tank in WoW Forever?

Yes. Bear Form and Dire Bear Form get a 50% threat bonus, more Rage from crits, Lacerate, Primal Bite and Defense scaling through Thick Hide, and potions now work in form.

When does a Druid get Cat Form and Travel Form?

Cat Form comes from a class quest at level 20 and Travel Form from the trainer at 30. Bear Form is a class quest at 10 and Aquatic Form at 16.

Do Druids get Tree of Life in WoW Forever?

No. Restoration Druids heal in caster form, and the Tree of Life spell in the database is left over from Season of Discovery and cannot be learned.

Can Druids use potions in form now?

Yes. All potions and almost all similar consumables work in Bear Form, Cat Form and Dire Bear Form without cancelling the shift. Most Engineering bombs are the exception.

What happened to Tiger's Fury and powershifting?

Tiger's Fury was removed and replaced by the Shifting Power talent, which turns mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown. Classic powershifting no longer works, because Energy now regenerates smoothly rather than in ticks.

Which races can be Druids in WoW Forever?

Night Elf and High Order Skyborne for the Alliance, Tauren and Windshaper Skyborne for the Horde.
