WoW Forever Honor Farming Guide

Updated 09 Oct 2026 | Author: Kir | ~6 min

WoW Forever pays for PvP in Honor, the currency you spend at the PvP vendor on rare armor, Emboldened seals and Rank 14 weapons. When the game launches on November 4, 2026, battlegrounds will be the main way to earn it, and Blizzard has reviewed Honor across every map so Alterac Valley is no longer the one efficient queue. Picking a map now comes down to which Marks of Honor your next gear piece needs and how reliably its matches end.

Two beta changes shape the farm. The October 1 beta build raised the Honor cap from 15,000 to 25,000 and made most PvP gear about 50% more expensive, so you need more Honor and can bank more of it between purchases. Exact Honor per match isn't published yet. Below, you'll find every Honor source, how the four battlegrounds compare, tips for farming under the weekly rank cap, and the numbers Blizzard still has to reveal.

Where Honor Comes From in WoW Forever

Honor is a currency, not a rank. You earn it together with Rank Points from the same activities, but only Rank Points move you up the 14 ranks, so spending Honor at the vendor never costs you progress. Battlegrounds supply most of it, and a few side sources add to every week's total; the table sums up what's known about each before launch.

Source What's known
Battleground matches The main source. Honor was reviewed across all maps, so Alterac Valley is no longer the default pick. A win pays bonus Honor on top (beta data).
Holiday-week battleground The featured map pays extra Honor and Rank Points for the whole week.
Honorable kills Small amounts per kill, in battlegrounds and the open world. In beta, a kill on a low-ranked player paid 1 Honor.
Battleground and PvP quests Pay Honor, including Marks of Honor turn-ins.
Field of Honor quests PvP Season's Journey quests in weeks 4, 7 and 10 that pay Honor and Rank Points.
For Great Honor (Legacy perk) Increases all Honor you gain from PvP on that character.

You can hold at most 25,000 Honor, up from 15,000 before the October 1 beta build. Anything you earn above the cap is lost, so spend before you reach it.

Best Battlegrounds for Honor Farming

With Honor rates evened out, the real question is which marks you need. Every battleground also pays its own Marks of Honor, and each PvP gear slot costs marks from one specific map: the Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor, Arathi Basin Mark of Honor, Darkspear Islands Mark of Honor and Alterac Valley Mark of Honor. In beta data, a win pays 3 marks and a loss pays 1.

The four maps also differ in team size, level range and how a match ends, which decides how much Honor you see per hour. Sizes and level ranges below are beta data.

Battleground Size Levels What Its Marks Buy How a Match Ends
Warsong Gulch 10v10 10+ Wrist, gloves, legs Capture the flag; in Classic, a stalemate could drag on
Arathi Basin 15v15 20+ Cloak, belt, shoulders, chest Race to a points target, so it always ends
Darkspear Islands 15v15 30–60 Boots, insignia, one-handers, shields and off-hands First team to 2,000 points
Alterac Valley 40v40 51–60 Helm, two-handed weapons Longest matches; no longer the most Honor-efficient pick

Until per-match rates are published, one rule holds: Arathi Basin and Darkspear Islands always finish, so they give the steadiest Honor per hour. Queue Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley when your next piece needs their marks. If you'd rather skip that part of the grind, our WoW Forever Marks of Honor Farm covers the marks from the battleground you pick.

Tips to Farm Honor Faster

Rank progress is capped every week, while Honor keeps coming as long as you queue. A few habits from the beta help you turn that extra playtime into gear instead of wasted Honor.

  1. Hit the weekly rank ceiling first, then farm Honor. Rank is capped each week; Honor isn't, apart from the 25,000 you can hold.
  2. Spend before you cap. Buy rare pieces and seals as they unlock instead of saving; only save from about week 8 for the Rank 14 weapon.
  3. Follow the holiday week. The featured battleground pays extra Honor and Rank Points for the whole holiday week, not just the weekend.
  4. Farm marks with a purpose. Every gear slot needs marks from one map; plan your queues around the next piece you're buying. Spare marks trade for experience and reputation.
  5. Do the quests. Battleground quests and the Field of Honor quests of the PvP Season's Journey (weeks 4, 7 and 10) pay Honor on top of matches.
  6. Take For Great Honor. The Legacy perk raises all PvP Honor gains on that character.
  7. Win. A win pays more marks (3 vs 1 in beta data) and bonus Honor, so playing the objective pays better than farming kills.

How many matches a full set takes depends on Honor per battleground, which Blizzard hasn't published. If you'd rather not grind the total yourself, see our WoW Forever Honor Points farm.

What's Still Unknown About Honor Rates

Blizzard has shared how Honor works, but the numbers that decide how long the farm takes are still missing.

  • Honor per match, per win and per honorable kill on each map.
  • Final gear prices after the October 1 increase of about 50%.
  • The holiday-week schedule and the size of its bonus.
  • How much For Great Honor adds.

We'll add the launch numbers as soon as Blizzard publishes them.
