WoW Forever Patch Notes and Beta Changes
WoW Forever launched on November 4 after a beta that started on September 17. Blizzard shipped a new build roughly every week, each one with its own development notes, and those notes shaped the game you play now: talents moved between rows, racials were replaced, Honor costs jumped by half, and whole abilities like Tiger's Fury disappeared. This page keeps every build in one place, newest first, with the changes that matter for players rather than the full bug list.
Each section below covers one build and groups its changes by topic: classes, racials, professions, PvP and the rest. The schedule at the top shows what comes next, and the page will keep tracking live patches and hotfixes after launch.
What Comes Next for WoW Forever
WoW Forever went live on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST with the launch build from the November 2 notes below. Since launch Blizzard has been fixing bugs with live hotfixes, the first rounds on November 5 and 6, and plans class balance changes on Tuesdays, starting November 10.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. PST | WoW Forever launched worldwide on the build described in the November 2 notes |
| November 10, 2026 | Class hotfixes for Hunter pets, the Voidwalker, Affliction Warlocks and Enhancement Shamans |
| December 9, 2026 | First raids open: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20 players and Onyxia's Lair for 40 players |
| Later Tuesdays, no date yet | More class balance changes if needed, and a large tuning pass once enough players level past 30 |
How Blizzard plans to grow the game beyond the first raids is covered in our WoW Forever roadmap.
November 10 Class Tuning
On November 6 Blizzard announced class hotfixes for Tuesday, November 10, aimed at three problems players found in the first days after launch.
- Hunter and Warlock: Hunter pets and the Voidwalker are too fragile as tanks. Blizzard will raise their stats so they hold up about as well as in Classic Era.
- Affliction Warlock: channeling Wrack non-stop beats also casting Corruption, Bane of Agony and Siphon Life. Blizzard will make those spells worth casting next to Wrack without changing Affliction's total damage.
- Enhancement Shaman: Intellect and Spell Power currently beat Strength and Attack Power. After the change Strength will always be the best stat, so Blizzard advises leveling Enhancement Shamans to collect Strength and Attack Power gear from now on.
Blizzard plans more balance changes on later Tuesdays if needed. The exact numbers will be added here once the hotfixes are live.
November 5 and 6 Hotfixes
The first live hotfixes after launch came on November 5 and 6. Most fix bugs and tooltips, but a few change how classes play: Bloom heals again, the Voidwalker has more health, and Orc Warlock pets lose part of their bonus from Command.
November 6 Class Changes
- Druid: Bloom now heals its target. The tooltips of Bear Form, Ravage and Swiftmend are corrected; the abilities themselves did not change.
- Mage: Arcane Blast now lasts the full 18 seconds. Mages no longer learn and then lose the Research spell: after the quest you only get Study.
- Rogue: Shank shows its ranks, and with Boot Knife talented its tooltip shows the right number of combo points.
- Warlock: the Voidwalker has about 40 more health at every level, and the Soul Siphon talent no longer makes Wrack increase its own damage.
- Warrior: the Reckless Swings tooltip now says that it activates Gore Drinker.
- Racials: Night Elf Druids can no longer use Ravage and Pounce from Shadowmeld, and the Orc Command racial no longer boosts some Warlock pet abilities too much.
- Legacy and interface: The Quick and the Dead Legacy talent works reliably, and the Cooldown Manager shows the real duration of crowd control, including diminishing returns and effects like the Orc stun reduction.
November 5 and 6 Dungeon, Quest and World Fixes
- Dungeons: Zaetar's Spirit spawns again after Princess Theradras in Maraudon, the portal to The Drowned City now teleports you inside, and enemies in Blackmaw Hold and The Drowned City no longer drop combat on their own.
- Items and professions: Searing Dagger procs only from spells that deal damage. The Leatherworking Tanning Rack needs skill 125 (was 140), and its skill-ups come 15 points earlier.
- PvP: Plainsrunning no longer stacks during a battleground's preparation phase, and its stacks are removed while you carry a flag.
- Quests: Kerlonian Evershade falls asleep less often in The Sleeper Has Awakened, and you now start it with the Horn of Awakening. In Ruins of Lordaeron, the head dropped by The Baron offers Unending Torment to Horde players from level 15 (was 16). Rediscovering the Light, Ammo for Rumbleshot and Escorting Erland are easier to finish, and Vorsha the Lasher no longer hits everyone in the zone.
- World: creatures with missing loot or wrong respawn times are fixed in Durotar, Dun Morogh, Dustwallow Marsh, Riverglades, Swamp of Sorrows and Teldrassil, trade supply vendors on Zephras Isle sell apprentice profession bags, and other players stay visible from farther away.
November 2 Launch Build
Blizzard's last development notes before launch came out on November 2 and describe the build WoW Forever went live with on November 4. They cover two and a half weeks of work since the October 15 build, so the October 26 racial update and the October 31 class hotfixes below are part of them too. On launch day Blizzard added one more interface section to the same notes.
The main change is power. Blizzard raised class damage across the game and gave higher-level creatures more health to compensate. Several October 15 additions are gone again, including Frost Blast, Salvation, Mass Salvation and Lava Burst. Blizzard does not plan big tuning changes before the raids open on December 9, apart from bugs and serious outliers, and expects a large tuning pass once enough players level past 30.
November 2 Changes for Every Class
A few rules changed for all classes, and two of them affect your gold and your action bars from the first hour.
- Training all class abilities from level 1 to 60 now costs 206 to 207 gold for every class. Warlocks pay less to cover the Grimoires they buy for their pets.
- Learning a new spell no longer places it on your action bars automatically.
- Most talents no longer lose proc chance when you cast a low rank of a spell. Blizzard is the exception: ranks learned more than 12 levels below your level still have a lower chance to trigger Arcane Concentration, Frostbite and Fingers of Frost.
- Roots from procs now have diminishing returns. This covers Frostbite, Entrapment, Improved Wing Clip, Counterattack and Improved Hamstring.
- All races now get the correct base stats. A Tauren Warrior starts with 5 more Strength than a Human Warrior (was 2), and Skyborne stats were fixed as well.
- Throw now uses the 0.5-second windup instead of the thrown weapon's attack speed.
November 2 Class Changes
Every class changed, and Rogue got the biggest rework of the build. The list below covers what matters for play and skips the October 31 changes, which are listed in their own section.
- Druid: Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat rises to 115% (was 50%) to make up for the removal of Salvation. Cat damage goes up: Shred deals 200% weapon damage (was 155%), Claw 140% (was 110%), Ravage 435% (was 350%), and Rip, Rake, Ferocious Bite and Pounce about 25% more. Ferocious Bite gets a new Rank 1 at level 24, Starfire deals about 40% more base damage, and Druids learn Poised at level 32, which takes 10 Energy off the next ability when you are out of combat at full Energy. Feral now has two 31-point talents: Primal Bite for Bears replaces Berserk, and Shifting Power for Cats sits behind the new Predatory Discipline. Lacerate takes Primal Bite's old slot on row 4. Restoration loses Gift of the Earthmother to Bloom, Naturalist raises damage by up to 10% and cuts the Wild Growth cast by up to 0.5 seconds, and Swiftmend now needs your own Rejuvenation or Regrowth on the target. Moonkin Form and Leader of the Pack boost all critical strikes again but no longer stack with each other.
- Hunter: Aimed Shot deals about 110% more bonus damage, Arcane Shot about 30% more with an Attack Power coefficient of 0.15 (was 0.1), Serpent Sting about 20% more with 5% of Attack Power per tick (was 3%), and Sniper Shot 100% more. Aspect of the Hawk gives 20 to 110 Ranged Attack Power by rank and Trueshot Aura 20 to 100. All traps now share one 30-second cooldown instead of separate cooldowns for Fire and Frost traps. Barrage rises to 15% and Lightning Reflexes to 15% Agility.
- Mage: Frost Blast, added on October 15, is removed. Critical Mass goes back to 3 points for 6% (was 5 points for 10%), while Incineration grows to 5 points for 10%. Ice Barrier now raises Frost damage by 15% for 1 minute, plus another 5% while the barrier holds, and Piercing Ice is removed. Arcane Blast costs 100% more Mana per stack (was 175%) and lasts 18 seconds, Ice Lance shares its 8-second cooldown with Fire Blast, and Winter's Chill adds 20% Cone of Cold damage per stack.
- Paladin: Salvation, Mass Salvation and Revoke from the October 15 build are removed, and so is Blessing of Light. Righteous Fury now adds 33% to all threat plus 90% to Holy threat, and Judgement of Fury lasts 3 seconds (was 4). In Holy, Holy Power raises critical healing by up to 50%, Light's Vigil works only on allies, and Oath of Light and Boundless Light are new talents. Protection makes Templar's Bulwark dispellable, and its new 31-point talent Shieldsworn makes Holy Strike hit with your shield and lets you block spells for 6 seconds. In Retribution, Conviction gives 6% critical strike chance to all spells and attacks, Two-Handed Weapon Specialization raises Holy and Physical damage by 6% and lowers threat by 20%, Vengeance stacks 5 times and requires Seal of Command, and Unsealed Wrath requires Repentance.
- Priest: Holy loses Binding Heal to Holy Binding: when your Flash Heal heals someone else, you heal for 50% of it. Shadow Word: Death no longer hurts you when it misses.
- Rogue: the new ability Shank arrives at level 24. It costs 5 Energy, has a 10-second cooldown and strikes with your off-hand for 50% weapon damage, can't miss and gives back 15 Energy (25 at Rank 2, level 44). Poised at level 18 takes 10 Energy off your next ability when you are out of combat at full Energy, and Deadly Poison and Instant Poison scale with twice as much Attack Power. Assassination makes Mutilate its 31-point talent with 90% weapon damage (was 75%), removes Murder, cuts Lethality to 2 points for 20%, and adds Blood Splatter, which extends Rupture by 6 seconds and Garrote by 9. Venom now triggers from Shank. Combat renames Improved Eviscerate to Coup de Grace and Improved Sinister Strike to Efficient Strikes, makes Dual Wield Specialization 2 points for 50%, and adds Composure and Flash of Steel to boost Poised and Shank. Subtlety gets Death Mark as its 31-point talent, a finisher that stores part of your damage and releases it after 6 seconds. Ghostly Strike now lets your next Ambush or Garrote skip the Stealth requirement, while Quietus, Cutthroat and Thousand Cuts are removed.
- Shaman: Lava Burst is removed and replaced by Call of Thunder, 5% critical strike chance for Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning. Lightning Bolt hits harder on every rank, up to 80% more on the top rank. Chain Lightning has a 2.5-second cast and deals about 145% of the damage of the same rank of Lightning Bolt for about 225% of its Mana. Shocks go back to Classic Era base damage, and Lightning Overload triggers 30% of the time (was 10%). For Enhancement, Stormstrike deals 150% weapon damage (was 100%) on a 6-second cooldown (was 8), Maelstrom Weapon procs twice as often, Mental Dexterity gives up to 150% of Intellect as Attack Power, and Flurry up to 30% attack speed. Riptide costs about 40% less Mana, has a 12-second cooldown (was 6) and heals only over time. Totemic Projection is now Totemic Call and pulls your totems to you on a 30-second cooldown.
- Warlock: pets get 2 Health per point of your Stamina (was 7.5). Wrack scales twice as well with spell damage and grows with level, so its base damage per second at level 60 is 86 (was 36). Shadow and Flame raises Fire or Shadow damage by up to 20% (was 10%). Drain Soul gives far fewer Soul Shards when it deals damage without a kill.
- Warrior: Defensive Stance threat rises to 80% (was 30%) and Defiance to 20%. Slam has a 15-second cooldown (was 18). Fury gets two new talents: Reckless Swings costs 25% of base Health and makes your next 4 melee attacks generate 5 more Rage, and Improved Whirlwind takes 2 seconds off the Whirlwind cooldown and adds 30% damage to the closest enemy. Fury Flurry is now 3 points for 30% attack speed, and Bloodthirst requires Death Wish.
How each class differs from Classic, talent by talent, is in our WoW Forever class changes guide.
November 2 Racial Changes
The racial part of the notes repeats the October 26 update below. The only new lines are Undead fixes: Cannibalize works again while you are immune to Physical damage, and Touch of the Grave triggers as often as intended.
November 2 World, Quest and PvP Changes
Blizzard sped up creature respawns across the world to handle the launch crowds. Starting zones respawn fastest, and the rate slows as you level. Some competition for mobs is intended, and Blizzard will lower the low-level rates to normal once the launch rush settles. The other changes are smaller.
- Bags no longer equip themselves into empty bag slots, you put them on yourself.
- Quest experience, prerequisites and level settings were adjusted, and many quests got objective tooltips and missing map markers.
- Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon quests all start at level 15 (was a mix of 15 and 16).
- The Darkshore quest Holy Diver now gives experience, and some satyrs count as Demons instead of Humanoids.
- Dropping the flag in Darkspear Islands no longer gives you the Recently Dropped Flag debuff.
November 2 Interface and Gamepad Changes
Gamepad support reached a functional beta state: movement, spells, interaction and menus all work on a controller, with settings in Edit Mode and the Options menu. The launch-day addition to the notes brought smaller interface fixes.
- The Swing Timer bar no longer fades out with distance before the swing finishes.
- Nameplates show Elite status again, and you can click through their debuff icons.
- With the combined bag turned on, slot backgrounds show which bag each slot belongs to.
October 31 Class Tuning Hotfixes
Blizzard applied a round of class hotfixes to the live Forever servers four days before launch. They are not in the official development notes yet, and Druid and Paladin talent trees changed the most.
October 31 Class Changes
- Druid: Feral loses Berserk and gains Lacerate, Shifting Power has an 8-second cooldown (was 16), Restoration gains Bloom, and Wild Growth has a 3-second cast.
- Hunter: Pathfinding moved to row 3 of Beast Mastery (was row 2).
- Mage: Arcane Focus is removed, Improved Fireball is renamed Accelerant, Elemental Precision is renamed Precision and covers all spells, Arcane Blast gives 12% of Intellect per stack (was 15%), and Ice Lance deals 300% more damage to Frozen targets (was 200%) with an 8-second cooldown.
- Paladin: Twist of Light is renamed Unsealed Wrath, Righteous Fury is learned at level 10 (was 16), Holy Shield deals 32% less damage, Instrument of Law, Improved Seal of Fury and One-Handed Weapon Specialization are removed, and Boundless Light, Oath of Light, Shieldsworn, Stoicism and Turn Evil are new talents.
- Priest: Shadow Word: Death backlash is 30% (was 10%), and Holy gains Holy Binding.
- Warlock: Improved Drains increases Mana drained by Drain Mana instead of affecting Wrack.
- Warrior: Revenge scales with 25% of Attack Power at every rank.
October 26 Racial Update
After the beta closed, Blizzard made a final pass on racial abilities and traits before launch. Some role- and class-focused racials that the October 15 build replaced with generic ones are back, and several passive bonuses were toned down. Weapon specialization racials such as Sword Specialization and Axe Specialization stay removed, because Blizzard does not want future raid and dungeon loot judged by required weapon types.
October 26 Racial Changes
Seven races changed. Blizzard added the Orc, Troll and Undead cooldown changes to the notes on October 27. Gnome and Night Elf racials stay as they were after the October 15 build.
- Human: Ruthless now gives 1% critical strike chance (was 2%), and The Human Spirit increases Spirit by 10% (was 5%).
- Dwarf: Earth Fury is removed. Dwarves get Artisan's Precision instead, 1% hit chance with spells and attacks.
- Tauren: Endurance is back to 5% increased Health only, with no hit or critical damage bonus. Plainsrunning gives 2% movement speed per stack (was 1%), up to 60% (was 30%), but no longer works while mounted.
- Orc: Savage is removed, and Command returns: Warlock and Hunter pets deal 5% more damage. Blood Fury is back to a 2-minute cooldown (was 3 minutes).
- Troll: Berserking lasts 15 seconds (was 10).
- Undead: Touch of the Grave has a 15-second internal cooldown (was 25 seconds).
- Skyborne: Wind Blessed Haste drops to 2% (was 3%). Read Leyline now gives 50% more Health and Mana regeneration for 15 seconds (was 100%) and can't be used while Innervate is active. Skysight gives 15% movement speed for 15 seconds (was 10%). Using Read Leyline at a Ley Line also grants Attuned for 1 hour, which raises Read Leyline back to 100%, and using Skysight at an elemental convergence grants Charged for 1 hour, which raises Skysight to 30%. Both buffs persist through death but are removed when you enter a raid.
For race choice, this means Dwarves now bring 1% hit toward the hit cap, Orcs are the pet pick for Hunters and Warlocks, and neither Orcs, Dwarves nor Tauren get a critical strike bonus anymore. For how the racials rank now, see our WoW Forever race tier list.
October 15 Beta Build
The October 15 build is the biggest balance pass of the beta. It rewrote most racials, made several class buffs raid-wide and added a stand-still delay to ranged attacks.
October 15 Racial Changes
Weapon specialization racials are gone and critical strike bonuses took their place. The changes below are the ones most likely to shift race choice. The October 26 update changed several of them again, see the section above.
- Tauren: Endurance now gives 2% increased critical damage and healing instead of 1% hit chance. Plainsrunning also grants 3% mounted speed but needs real movement to stay active. Cultivation cooldown drops to 15 minutes (was 60) and War Stomp to 90 seconds (was 2 minutes).
- Human: Sword Specialization is replaced by Ruthless, 2% increased critical strike chance.
- Orc: Axe Specialization is replaced by Savage, 1% increased critical strike chance. Blood Fury cooldown rises to 3 minutes and Shatter Curse now dispels Curses and Banes.
- Dwarf: Mace Specialization is replaced by Earth Fury, 2% increased critical damage and healing. Find Treasure can now find extra items in most chests.
- Skyborne: Wind Blessed Haste rises to 3% (was 1%), Skysight and Read Leyline can be cast while moving, and Walk on Air drops to a 90 second cooldown.
- Gnome: Eureka! becomes an 8 second buff with no charges and now also benefits Power Word: Shield.
- Troll: Regeneration health regeneration bonus rises to 20% (was 10%).
- Undead: Touch of the Grave gets a 30% proc chance for casters and 20% for Paladins, Rogues and Warriors, with a 25 second internal cooldown.
For how the new racials rank, see our WoW Forever race tier list.
October 15 Class Changes
Wands and Hunter Auto Shot now require you to stand still for 0.5 seconds before shooting, as in early World of Warcraft. Raid-wide buffs are the other theme of the build.
- Druid: Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack are now raid-wide. Shred Rank 1 is learned at level 20.
- Hunter: Trueshot Aura is raid-wide, and you can keep one Fire Trap and one Ice Trap active at once. Pet abilities Dismember, Sonic Blast and Mine! were nerfed.
- Mage: new spell Frost Blast at level 24 replaces the slowing role of Rank 1 Frostbolt. Arcane Blast was redesigned and Arcane Wrath is a new 16-point talent. Fire Power and Winter's Chill were redesigned, and Ice Lance deals 200% more damage to Frozen targets (was 300%).
- Paladin: Blessing of Salvation is replaced by Salvation and Mass Salvation, with Revoke to remove it. Righteous Fury Holy threat rises to 90% (was 60%). Reckoning stores up to 4 charges again.
- Priest: Devouring Plague cooldown drops to 24 seconds and Shadow Word: Death rises to 18 seconds. Shadow gains the new talent Dark Inspiration.
- Shaman: Grace of Air Totem, Strength of Earth Totem, Windfury Totem and Flametongue Totem are raid-wide. Elemental Mastery returns as the 31-point talent and Lava Burst moves to the 21-point slot. Chain Lightning costs about 35% less Mana.
- Warlock: Malediction is replaced by Grim Reach, and Shadow Mastery now gives 2 to 10% Shadow damage.
- Warrior: Battle Shout is raid-wide and Slam is no longer pushed back.
October 15 Item, Legacy and PvP Changes
Scrolls now trigger the global cooldown, many crafted items sell to vendors for less, and Draught of Predatory Senses became a combat potion. On the Legacy side, Bartering no longer discounts training and repairs. In PvP, battleground Marks of Honor now stack to 30 (was 20).
October 15 Interface Changes
A new tutorial for new players arrived with this build, along with an Auto Attack and Auto Shot switch for Hunters, an Auction House column for equippable level and restored level-up messages.
October 8 Beta Build
The October 8 build opened the City of Dalaran dungeon and made dungeon leveling much faster.
October 8 Leveling and Dungeon Changes
Experience from killing creatures in dungeons went up by about 20%. A bug that cut experience for everyone in a party with a higher-level player was fixed, so only your own level now matters, as in Classic Era. Classic looting also returned: creatures that dropped nothing can still be interacted with.
October 8 Class Changes
Rage was the main fix. Several bugs had reduced the Rage Warriors and Druids gained from taking damage, and Rage gains were rebalanced around questing armor values.
- Druid: Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat bonus rises to 50% (was 30%). Thorns went back to Vanilla base damage.
- Paladin: Retribution Aura went back to Vanilla base damage and now uses the Paladin's spell power. Reckoning got a 1.5 second trigger cooldown.
- Priest: Penance damage and healing were fixed to match a 2 second channel, and its Mana cost now stays cheaper than the Heal family.
- Mage, Priest, Shaman and Warlock: the early ranks of Frostbolt, Fireball, Arcane Missiles, Smite, Lightning Bolt and Shadow Bolt were adjusted so every new rank is an upgrade.
- Warrior: Demoralizing Shout generates threat again, and Deep Wounds is once more required to reach Impale.
October 8 Legacy and Interface Changes
All beta players received 16 Legacy Points to test the system, and Legacy respecs now cost 1 silver during the beta. Voice chat can use Discord Voice, quest types and level requirements show in the quest log, and View Talents was added to the target menu.
October 1 Beta Build
The October 1 build raised the level cap to 30 and made the first big changes to PvP costs and Fury Warriors.
October 1 New Content
The beta level cap rose to 30 with a new dungeon, Excavation Site: Wetlands (26 to 31), plus Razorfen Downs and Uldaman. Barbershops opened in Darnassus and Thunder Bluff.
October 1 PvP and Leveling Changes
Most Honor costs for PvP gear and upgrade tokens rose by about 50%, and the Honor cap went from 15,000 to 25,000 to match. Dungeon quests now give 50% less extra experience, a change Blizzard tied to feedback on leveling speed.
October 1 Class Changes
Two specs were reshaped in this build, Feral Druid and Fury Warrior.
- Druid: Tiger's Fury was removed. Feral gets Shifting Power, which converts 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16 second cooldown. Shapeshift forms are immune to Disarm.
- Warrior: critical strikes with basic attacks generate 100% more Rage. Fury lost Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage, gained Lingering Rage, Furious Precision and Gore Drinker, and Bloodthirst scales with 45% of Attack Power (was 35%). Whirlwind always hits with both weapons.
- Mage: Hot Streak was renamed Heating Up and Combustion went back to 3 charges.
- Paladin: Holy Shield block chance rises to 30% and Redoubt drops to 4 to 20%.
October 1 Camping and Profession Changes
Campfires no longer burn characters below level 5. The Boosted Rest debuff from the Camp Tent got a clearer icon and tooltip. Skinned creatures disappear after one skin again. For more on camps, see our WoW Forever camping guide.
September 24 Beta Build
The first patch of the beta fixed campfires and started the class balance pass.
September 24 Camping and Talent Changes
Crafting or casting no longer stands you up while you wait for your campfire buff, and sitting, lying down, sleeping and kneeling all count. Talent respecs cost 1 silver during the beta.
September 24 Class and Racial Changes
The first balance pass touched every class.
- Druid: Mangle was renamed Primal Bite and Wrath base damage rose by about 50%.
- Paladin: Holy Strike gained damage on every rank and Improved Holy Strike was removed, its cooldown reduction made baseline for Holy.
- Mage: Hot Streak and Wake of Fire last longer, and Arcane Missiles checks line of sight only once.
- Shaman: totem stacking was cleaned up so Windfury, Tranquil Air and Grace of Air no longer stack.
- Warrior: Protection gets Focused Rage earlier, and Arms Bloodthrill procs twice as often.
- Tauren: Cultivation now needs a character level equal to the herb's Herbalism skill divided by 5.
- Gnome: Eureka! became a 10% discount on Mana, Rage or Energy abilities for every class.
