Cooking in WoW Forever is a secondary profession, which means it does not take up one of your two primary profession slots. It is also easy to level while questing because many recipes use meat, eggs, clams, or fish that you can collect naturally while moving through different zones.
This WoW Forever Cooking leveling guide covers the full route from 1 to 300, trainer locations for every faction and starting zone, the Forever campfire system, Expert and Artisan unlocks, and several recipe choices for each skill range. The goal is simple: use whichever ingredients are easiest or cheapest to get on your realm.
Cooking is much more flexible than most crafting professions. There is rarely one mandatory ingredient list. If you already have meat or fish from leveling, use the recipe that matches what is in your bags instead of buying an entirely different set of materials. This matters most between 50 and 225, where several recipes overlap across the same skill ranges.
Cooking also provides the campfire used by the Forever camping system. The Basic Campfire Kit gives you a portable cooking fire and supports up to three additional camp features. The higher-tier Journeyman Campfire Kit and Expert Campfire Kit expand that limit to five and ten additional features.
Buying every recipe path at once wastes gold fast. Cooking has overlapping routes, so one bad shopping list can leave you with stacks of ingredients you never use.
Apprentice Cooking has no character-level requirement. Standard Cooking trainers can also teach Journeyman Cooking, so once you reach 50 skill there is no need to search for a separate Journeyman-only NPC.
| Faction | City | Trainer |
|---|---|---|
| Horde | Orgrimmar | Zamja |
| Horde | Undercity | Eunice Burch |
| Horde | Thunder Bluff | Aska Mistrunner |
| Alliance | Stormwind City | Stephen Ryback |
| Alliance | Ironforge | Daryl Riknussun |
| Alliance | Darnassus | Alegorn |
| Race | Zone | Closest Trainer |
|---|---|---|
| Orc / Troll | Durotar | Cook Torka - Razor Hill |
| Tauren | Mulgore | Pyall Silentstride - Bloodhoof Village |
| Undead | Tirisfal Glades | William Pickman - Brill |
| Human | Elwynn Forest | Tomas - Goldshire |
| Dwarf / Gnome | Dun Morogh | Gremlock Pilsnor - Kharanos |

| Skyborne | Zephras Isle | Nyalah Brightfire - Valanaar; Zerril Softbreeze - Shen'dar Village |
You need a cooking fire for Cooking recipes. In WoW Forever, the basic version comes from the Basic Campfire Kit. Crafting it requires Simple Wood and uses Flint and Tinder as a crafting tool. Once the Campfire Kit is already in your bags, placing the campfire does not consume Flint and Tinder.
| Campfire | Use Requirement | Camp Feature Slots | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Campfire Kit | Cooking 1 | 3 | Cooking fire and base camp. |
| Journeyman Campfire Kit | Cooking 140 to use | 5 | Larger campfire with more feature slots. |
| Expert Campfire Kit | Cooking 220 to use | 10 | Largest campfire tier. |
Cooking Supply vendors near trainers sell the common ingredients used by many recipes. Buy these directly from vendors whenever your route needs them. There is usually no reason to pay an Auction House markup.
The shopping list below follows one complete 1-300 route, which makes it useful if you want to prepare most ingredients before starting. This version uses the fish-heavy path where possible, then switches to Curiously Tasty Omelet for 150-175, Spotted Yellowtail for 225-275, and Poached Sunscale Salmon for 275-300.
The quantities are estimates because yellow recipes can miss a skill point. Alternative meat and fish routes are still listed in the leveling sections below, but their ingredients are not added to this shopping list. Otherwise, you could easily end up buying materials for two routes at once.
