WoW Forever has 23 mounts on its current list, and only about half of them can be planned for today. The Galestriders of the Skyborne, the Spectral Bear from the Legacy track, the Pack Kodo from the supply factions, the two Forsaken Paladin horses and the two edition mounts all have a known source. The other eleven, from the Skeletal Horses to the Venomhide Ravasaur, exist in the game files but have no confirmed way to get them yet.
Before any of them matters, you need the riding skill. Forever moves the cost of your first mount into riding training, Burning Crusade style: you pay the trainer at level 40 and the mount comes with the skill. Below you will find what riding costs and when you can learn it, every mount with its requirements and price, 3D models of each one, and the sources that are still unknown before launch on November 4.
The table lists every mount on the current Forever list with its source, the level and riding skill it needs, and the price where one is known. Mounts without a confirmed source are grouped at the bottom and covered in their own section.

In original Classic you paid twice: a small fee to learn riding and a larger one for the mount itself. WoW Forever flips this the way The Burning Crusade did. Almost all of the gold goes into the riding skill, and learning it grants you a mount of your race on the spot, so there is no separate first purchase at the stable.
Riding has two ranks. Apprentice Riding opens at level 40 and makes you 60% faster. Journeyman Riding opens at level 60 and raises that to 100%. The prices below are from the beta build and may still move before launch.
| Riding Rank | Level | Speed | Training Cost (Beta) | What You Get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Riding | 40 | +60% | 100 gold | Riding skill plus a racial mount |
| Journeyman Riding | 60 | +100% | 1,000 gold | Riding skill plus a swift racial mount |
Beta players also saw Journeyman Riding offered for 900 to 960 gold, which points to reputation discounts at your home city. There is no flying in Forever, so 100% ground speed is the top tier for the whole game.
Every riding trainer teaches both ranks and also teaches the riding type of your race. For the Skyborne that is Galestrider Riding, learned from Genn Fairweather, the stable master and riding trainer on Zephras Isle.
If you would rather skip the gold farm before level 40 or 60, our WoW Forever Mount Unlock covers the riding training for either speed tier.
Forsaken Paladins are new in Forever, and they get their own pair of class mounts instead of the Alliance horses. Both are skeletal horses in gold barding: the Summon Warhorse spell at level 40, and the epic Summon Forsaken Charger at level 60 with spiked plate and a horned skull helm.
Per beta client data, the Warhorse comes from the quest A Trusty Steed and the Charger from Justice and Retribution, which Blizzard frames as the Forsaken answer to the Alliance quest for a charger in the name of Redemption. The full step-by-step chain has not been published yet, so do not follow the old Alliance Paladin route for it.
| Mount | Level | Speed | Quest (Beta Client) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summon Warhorse | 40 | +60% | A Trusty Steed |
| Summon Forsaken Charger | 60 | +100% | Justice and Retribution |
Two mounts come from the paid Forever packs rather than from anything in game. Both are account-wide and are also usable in modern WoW, but neither replaces riding training.
The Cerulean Prideclaw is a blue Skyborne-style cat included with every Forever pack, starting with the $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack. It needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding. The Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion is a saddled bear that starts at the $59.99 Skyborne Epic Pack, and you can ride it from level 40 with Apprentice Riding.
| Edition | Price | Cerulean Prideclaw | Loyal Companion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | $29.99 | Yes | No |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | $59.99 | Yes | Yes |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | $79.99 | Yes | Yes |
| Collector's Edition | $150 | Yes | Yes |
Every pack is compared item by item, with the Skyborne unlock and the collectibles, in our WoW Forever editions and price guide.
The Reins of the Spectral Bear is the top reward of the Legacy track. Legacy Points come from Legacy Challenges across your account: class levels, profession skill, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons, raids and exploration. At 55 points the bear unlocks, and because it is account-wide, you only earn it once.
The mount itself needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding, so it is an endgame ride even if you reach 55 points early. The smaller milestones on the way give a toy, a pet and a tabard in the same spectral theme.
| Legacy Points | Reward | Type |
|---|---|---|
| 15 | Holstered Replica Ironforge Air Rifle | Toy |
| 25 | Spectral Bear Cub | Pet |
| 40 | Spectral Bear Tabard | Tabard |
| 55 | Reins of the Spectral Bear | Mount |
Which challenges are worth the most points, and how to spend them on perks, is covered in our WoW Forever Legacy Points guide.
Galestriders are the long-legged cranes of the Skyborne, the new race of Forever. Genn Fairweather on Zephras Isle teaches Galestrider Riding and sells three colors, each in a standard and a swift version. A standard Galestrider costs 20 gold and needs level 40. A swift one costs 200 gold and needs level 60.
Since riding training already grants a racial mount, these prices are for extra colors. A Skyborne player who wants all six spends 660 gold on top of training. A fourth color, Regal, is in the files with the same requirements but is not sold by Genn Fairweather yet.

Stormy Galestrider

Regal Galestrider
Source not confirmed yet
The Regal Galestrider and Swift Regal Galestrider need level 40 and 60 with Galestrider Riding, like the other colors, but no vendor or reward lists them yet. Do not plan gold for them until a source appears.
Racials, classes and the Zephras Isle starting zone are covered in our WoW Forever Skyborne race guide.
The Reins of the Pack Kodo is the reward at the end of the new supply reputations. The Alliance works for the Azeroth Commerce Authority in Redridge Mountains, the Horde for Durotar Supply and Logistics in The Barrens. Both pay in Merchant's Favor, a currency you earn alongside reputation by filling supply orders.
The kodo is a long-term goal. It requires Exalted with your faction's supply reputation, level 60 and Journeyman Riding, and costs the same 6,000 Merchant's Favor on both sides.
| Faction | Reputation | Vendor | Zone | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alliance | Azeroth Commerce Authority, Exalted | Huey Sunnydale | Redridge Mountains | 6,000 Merchant's Favor |
| Horde | Durotar Supply and Logistics, Exalted | Okamache | The Barrens | 6,000 Merchant's Favor |
To plan the grind to Exalted and see what else the vendor sells along the way, read our Azeroth Commerce Authority reputation guide.
Eleven mounts on the Forever list have names, models and item pages, but no quest, vendor, drop or reward attached to them. Some of them, like the Whistle of the Venomhide Ravasaur, came from long quest chains in later Classic versions, but that does not mean Forever will use the same chain.
Datamining also found about a dozen more mount spells that are not on the list yet, including Devilsaurs, Druid Moose, Warden Sabers, more Prideclaw colors, a Caravan Kodo and a Swift Hyjal Stag. Most of them are encrypted, so they have no models or sources so far.
A few habits save gold and time once Forever goes live, especially if you plan to play more than one character.
Quick answers to the questions players ask most about mounts and riding in Forever.
Level 40 for your first mount with Apprentice Riding, and level 60 for a swift mount with Journeyman Riding.
In the beta build, Apprentice Riding costs 100 gold and Journeyman Riding costs 1,000 gold before reputation discounts. A mount of your race is included with each rank.
No. Forever uses the Burning Crusade model: the cost sits in the riding training, and learning to ride grants you a racial mount. You only buy mounts for extra looks, such as the Galestrider colors.
The current list has 23 mounts. Twelve have a confirmed source, and eleven have item pages but no confirmed way to get them yet.
Earn 55 Legacy Points to unlock the Reins of the Spectral Bear. The mount is account-wide and needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding to ride.
From Genn Fairweather on Zephras Isle. Standard Empyrean, Stormy and Umber Galestriders cost 20 gold at level 40, and the swift versions cost 200 gold at level 60. All of them need Galestrider Riding.
Reach Exalted with the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) or Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde), then buy the Reins of the Pack Kodo for 6,000 Merchant's Favor from Huey Sunnydale or Okamache. It needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding.
Every Forever pack, starting with the $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack. The Cerulean Prideclaw is account-wide and needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding.
Buy the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99), the Warcraft Forever Collection or the Collector's Edition. The Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion is account-wide and needs level 40 and Apprentice Riding.
Yes. Forsaken Paladins get Summon Warhorse at level 40 and Summon Forsaken Charger at level 60, both skeletal horses from their own class quests.
No. Both have item pages, but no source is confirmed for either, so there is nothing to farm yet.
These guides cover the systems behind the mounts above, from the packs that grant them to the reputations that sell them.
