WoW Forever PvP Ranks and Rank 14 Guide

Updated 09 Oct 2026 | Author: Kir | ~7 min

Rank 14 is back in WoW Forever, but the round-the-clock grind that made it infamous in Classic is gone. There is no server ladder and no decay: your rank depends only on the Rank Points you earn yourself, and a weekly ceiling means a player with two evenings a week reaches Grand Marshal or High Warlord in the same week as someone who never logs off. That week is week 10 of a season at the earliest, at 24,750 Rank Points, and everything starts over when the season ends. Below, we explain how Rank Points and Honor split the work, what each of the 14 ranks unlocks, the week-by-week route to the top, where the points come from and what you keep after a season.

How PvP Ranks Work in WoW Forever

PvP progression runs on two separate currencies that you earn from the same matches and quests. Rank Points fill your rank bar: they are never spent, and they decide which title you hold and which rewards you may buy. Honor is the money you then spend at PvP vendors on those rewards.

Because the two are tracked separately, spending Honor never costs you rank. The table below sums up the difference.

Detail Rank Points Honor
Does Fills your rank bar Buys items from PvP vendors
Spent? Never, only accumulates Yes
Limit Weekly cap on the highest rank you can reach 25,000 held at once
Resets At the end of each season No reset announced

Compared with Classic's honor system, three things work differently.

  • No ladder. Your rank no longer depends on beating other players' weekly totals. Other people's points don't affect yours.
  • No decay. Points you earn stay for the whole season. Skipping a week costs you nothing except time.
  • A weekly ceiling. Each week of the season raises the highest rank anyone can reach, so no-lifers and two-evenings-a-week players arrive at Rank 14 in the same week.

The rank bar works like a Renown track from modern WoW: each rank costs a little more than the last.

You can track your rank, Rank Points and the next reward in the Player vs. Player tab of the Character pane (C).

All 14 PvP Ranks, Titles and Unlocks

Every rank comes with its own title and opens a new item at the PvP vendor. Reaching a rank doesn't hand you the reward; it unlocks the right to buy it with Honor. Rank 1 costs 750 Rank Points, and each rank after that costs 150–350 more.

Rank Alliance title Horde title RP for this rank RP total Unlocks for purchase
1 Private Scout 750 750 Faction tabard (Private's Tabard / Scout's Tabard)
2 Corporal Grunt 900 1,650 PvP insignia trinket
3 Sergeant Sergeant 1,050 2,700 Faction cloak
4 Master Sergeant Senior Sergeant 1,200 3,900 Faction necklace (Premier Master Sergeant's Insignia)
5 Sergeant Major First Sergeant 1,350 5,250 Combat Healing Potion and Combat Mana Potion
6 Knight Stone Guard 1,500 6,750 Elite tabard (Knight's Colors / Stone Guard's Herald)
7 Knight-Lieutenant Blood Guard 1,650 8,400 Alliance Battle Standard / Horde Battle Standard (+15% health to nearby allies, 10 min cooldown)
8 Knight-Captain Legionnaire 1,800 10,200 Premier Emboldened Wrist Seal, Premier Emboldened Belt Seal
9 Knight-Champion Centurion 1,950 12,150 Premier Emboldened Feet Seal
10 Lieutenant Commander Champion 2,100 14,250 Premier Emboldened Hands Seal
11 Commander Lieutenant General 2,350 16,600 Black War mounts
12 Marshal General 2,500 19,100 Premier Emboldened Legs Seal, Premier Emboldened Shoulder Seal
13 Field Marshal Warlord 2,650 21,750 Premier Emboldened Chest Seal, Premier Emboldened Head Seal
14 Grand Marshal High Warlord 3,000 24,750 Epic weapons (Weapon Arsenal)

The Rank Point values per rank are datamined from the beta and may change before launch. The 24,750 total for Rank 14 also shows in the game's own PvP tab.

Emboldened Seals upgrade a rare PvP piece in that slot to its epic (Elite) version.

To see what each seal and PvP armor piece costs in Honor, check our PvP gear and Honor costs guide.

Week-by-Week Route to Rank 14

The weekly ceiling, not your playtime, sets the pace. The ceiling climbs one or two ranks a week, with a jump from Rank 9 to Rank 11 in week 7.

Mapped onto the calendar, the ceiling turns into a handful of milestones worth planning around.

  • Weeks 1–3: easy early ranks. Buy the rare PvP set as soon as you're 55 - it has no rank gate.
  • Week 4: Rank 7, the Battle Standard and your second PvP Legacy Point (the first comes at Rank 3).
  • Weeks 5–6: the first epic upgrades - wrist and belt at Rank 8, boots at Rank 9.
  • Week 7: Rank 11 and the Black War mount; gloves came at Rank 10 on the way.
  • Week 9: Rank 13 completes the epic armor set for transmog.
  • Week 10+: Rank 14, the epic weapons and the last rank Legacy Point.

The ceiling limits rank, not points, so a late start can catch up to the current week's ceiling - if the datamined values hold. If season 1 starts at launch on November 4, week 10 lands in early January 2027.

Battlegrounds and Other Ways to Earn Rank Points

Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests, not from killing players in the open world. Most activities pay Honor and Rank Points together, and the Field of Honor season journey adds weekly PvP tasks on top. Exact amounts per match or quest aren't published yet, so the table shows which activities count rather than how much they pay.

Source Rank Points Honor Notes
Battlegrounds Yes Yes Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Darkspear Islands. Blizzard evened out Honor rates so AV isn't the only efficient map
Holiday-week battleground Bonus Bonus The featured map of the week pays more of both
PvP quests Yes Yes Includes battleground quests and, per game data, tasks handed out in Gadgetzan
Field of Honor season journey Yes Yes Weekly tasks; the week 4, 7 and 10 quests also give a Legacy Point
World PvP kills No (game data) Yes The game's description says Honor comes from killing players of the other faction; Blizzard names only battlegrounds and quests for Rank Points

Because rank is capped weekly, the efficient plan is simple: reach the week's ceiling, then spend the rest of your PvP time on Honor and Marks of Honor for gear.

What Resets When a PvP Season Ends

Ranks reset to zero when a season ends, and the next season brings a new armor set, weapons and Black War mount. Past-season rewards can't be earned once that season is over.

Resets Stays
Rank and Rank Points Legacy Points from ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14 (account-wide, one-time)
Access to that season's rewards Items you already bought
Nothing else announced Your Honor balance (no reset announced)

Blizzard hasn't said how long a season lasts or whether old gear gets outclassed. Community estimates based on the roadmap put a season at 20–25 weeks.

WoW Forever PvP Rank FAQ

The new system breaks a few habits from Classic, so the same handful of questions keeps coming up.

Does Honor raise my rank? No. Only Rank Points do. Spending Honor never slows your rank.

Can I reach Rank 14 faster by playing more? No. The weekly ceiling is the same for everyone; extra play only earns Honor and marks.

I missed a few weeks. Am I locked out of Rank 14? Likely not. The cap limits the highest rank, not the points you earn, so you can catch up to the current ceiling.

Do I need Rank 14 every season? Only for that season's weapons and title. Rank 13 already gets you the full epic armor set, and the rank Legacy Points count once.

Is there a ladder or rating? No ladder, no rated battlegrounds, no arena announced.
