Tailoring in WoW Forever turns the cloth you pick up from humanoid enemies into armor, bags, shirts, and high-level crafted gear. Unlike Mining, Herbalism, or Skinning professions, it does not need a gathering profession alongside it. Enchanting is still a natural pairing, since many of the items you make while leveling can be disenchanted instead of sold to a vendor.
This WoW Forever Tailoring leveling guide takes you from 1 to 300 step by step. It covers the materials needed for each skill range, Tailoring trainer locations, useful recipe notes, and an Artisan route built around the actual Forever skill ranges rather than older Classic values.
Most of the profession revolves around Linen Cloth, Wool Cloth, Silk Cloth, Mageweave Cloth, and Runecloth. Thread and dye usually come from Tailoring Supply vendors, so buy those materials as you move between trainers rather than paying an Auction House markup.
If you are leveling Enchanting at the same time, belts, shoulders, gloves, bags, and other green-quality Tailoring crafts can be disenchanted for dusts and essences. That is what makes the pairing so convenient: neither profession forces you to take Mining, Herbalism, or Skinning.
Do not vendor cloth bolts you still need for later steps. Recrafting bolts is one of the fastest ways to waste gold and cloth.
The list below covers the complete 1-300 route used in this guide. Treat the totals as practical estimates, not fixed numbers. Once recipes turn yellow or green, every craft is no longer guaranteed to award a skill point, so keeping a little extra cloth and thread is sensible.
The shopping list follows the main route only. Crafted cloth bolts are not listed separately because you make them while leveling, and materials used only by alternative paths are left out.

| Expert | 125 Tailoring, level 20 | Josef Gregorian - Undercity | Georgio Bolero - Stormwind City |
| Artisan | 200 Tailoring, level 35 | Daryl Stack - Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills | Timothy Worthington - Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh |
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-30 | 30x Bolt of Linen Cloth | 60x Linen Cloth | Turns yellow at 25. Keep the bolts for Linen Belt. |
| 30-55 | 28x Linen Belt | 28x Bolt of Linen Cloth; 28x Coarse Thread | Yellow from 50, so keep a few extra materials available. |
Train Journeyman before you start mass-crafting Wool bolts. Otherwise, a lucky run of skill-ups can hit the profession cap and some of those gains will simply be wasted.
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 55-80 | 45x Bolt of Woolen Cloth | 135x Wool Cloth | Yellow at 70 and green at 77. Make the full batch because the bolts are reused immediately. |
| 80-85 | 6x Woolen Cape | 6x Bolt of Woolen Cloth; 6x Fine Thread | If the bolts already pushed you above 80, craft only until 85. |
| 85-95 | 11x Gray Woolen Shirt | 22x Bolt of Woolen Cloth; 11x Fine Thread; 11x Gray Dye | Yellow from 90; one or two extra crafts may be needed. |
| 95-100 | 5x Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders | 15x Bolt of Woolen Cloth; 10x Fine Thread | Straightforward bridge to the Silk route. |
| 100-120 | 170x Bolt of Silk Cloth | 680x Silk Cloth | You only need part of the batch for skill-ups, but the full 170 bolts are consumed through 180. |
| 120-125 | 5x Azure Silk Hood | 10x Bolt of Silk Cloth; 10x Blue Dye; 5x Fine Thread | Train Expert at 125. |
Expert Tailoring requires 125 skill and level 20. Horde players train with Josef Gregorian in Undercity. Alliance players need Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City.
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 125-135 | 12x Azure Silk Hood | 24x Bolt of Silk Cloth; 24x Blue Dye; 12x Fine Thread | Yellow from 130. |
| 135-140 | 5x Formal White Shirt | 15x Bolt of Silk Cloth; 10x Bleach; 5x Fine Thread | Use this short range before preparing Mageweave. |
| 140-150 | 192x Bolt of Mageweave | 960x Mageweave Cloth | Craft the full batch; the route consumes every bolt through 225. |
| 150-170 | 20x Crimson Silk Vest | 80x Bolt of Silk Cloth; 40x Red Dye; 40x Fine Thread | Keep following the Silk crafts before switching fully to Mageweave. |
| 170-180 | 10x Crimson Silk Pantaloons | 40x Bolt of Silk Cloth; 20x Red Dye; 20x Silken Thread | Orange through the range. |
| 180-190 | ~12x Orange Mageweave Shirt | 12x Bolt of Mageweave; 12x Orange Dye; 12x Heavy Silken Thread | Yellow from 185; keep materials for one or two extras. |
| 190-215 | ~38x Black Mageweave Gloves | 76x Bolt of Mageweave; 76x Heavy Silken Thread | Yellow from 195 and green from 210. |
| 215-225 | ~26x Mageweave Bag | 104x Bolt of Mageweave; 52x Silken Thread | Yellow throughout and green from 220, so the last points take most of the crafts. |
The 225-300 bracket consumes far more cloth than the early profession ranks. Buy Runecloth in stages instead of locking all your gold into one Auction House purchase.
Train Artisan Tailoring at 200 skill and character level 35. Horde players use Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, while Alliance players train with Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle. This route follows the Forever-specific skill ranges and uses the newer Earthenweave crafts instead of Classic-era breakpoints.
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 225-230 | ~7x Mageweave Bag | 28x Bolt of Mageweave; 14x Silken Thread | Finish the remaining orange/yellow Mageweave range. |
| 230-235 | ~12x Black Mageweave Headband | 36x Bolt of Mageweave; 24x Heavy Silken Thread | Use until 235. |
| 235-240 | ~12x Red Mageweave Bag | 48x Bolt of Mageweave; 24x Red Dye; 24x Heavy Silken Thread | Moves you into the final Mageweave segment. |
| 240-243 | 4x Admiral's Hat | 12x Bolt of Mageweave; 24x Long Elegant Feather; 8x Heavy Silken Thread | Pattern craft used as a short bridge before Earthenweave. |
| 243-255 | ~18x Earthenweave Boots | 72x Bolt of Runecloth; 36x Essence of Earth; 36x Rugged Leather; 18x Rune Thread | New Forever Earthenweave recipe. |
| 255-260 | 6x Earthenweave Mantle | 36x Bolt of Runecloth; 6x Essence of Earth; 6x Rune Thread | Efficient orange/yellow step. |
| 260-267 | ~8x Earthenweave Leggings | 48x Bolt of Runecloth; 16x Essence of Earth; 8x Rune Thread | Continue the Earthenweave set. |
| 267-270 | 4x Runecloth Cuffs | 20x Bolt of Runecloth; 4x Ironweb Spider Silk; 4x Rune Thread | Short bridge into the 270 recipes. |
| 270-285 | ~21x Earthenweave Cuffs | 105x Bolt of Runecloth; 21x Essence of Earth; 21x Rune Thread | Turns yellow later in the range, so exact craft count can vary. |
| 285-296 | ~24x Earthenweave Crown | 144x Bolt of Runecloth; 72x Essence of Earth; 24x Rune Thread | Strong 285+ skill-up option. |
| 296-300 | ~6x Mooncloth Boots | 36x Bolt of Runecloth; 24x Mooncloth; 12x Black Pearl; 6x Rune Thread | Use the final crafts only until 300; stop immediately when capped. |
Craft cloth bolts where the route needs them, then move through the cheapest orange and yellow item recipes for each skill bracket. The route above progresses from Linen and Wool into Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth, and the Forever-specific Earthenweave recipes.
Enchanting is one of the most convenient pairings because Tailoring does not require a gathering profession, and many of the cloth items you craft can be disenchanted into dusts, essences, and shards.
Journeyman Tailoring requires 50 Tailoring and level 10. Horde trainers include Magar, Rhiannon Davis, and Tepa. Alliance trainers include Sellandus, Jormund Stonebrow, and Me'lynn.
Expert Tailoring requires 125 skill and level 20. Horde players train with Josef Gregorian in Undercity, while Alliance players train with Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City.
Artisan Tailoring requires 200 skill and level 35. Horde players learn it from Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills. Alliance players learn it from Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh.
For the main 1-300 route, prepare approximately 65 Linen Cloth, 135 Wool Cloth, 680 Silk Cloth, 1,580 Mageweave Cloth, and 2,305 Runecloth. Yellow and green skill-ups can change the exact total slightly.
The Artisan route shown here uses approximately 2,305 Runecloth after converting the required Bolt of Runecloth crafts back into raw cloth. Keep some extra because yellow recipes can require additional attempts.
The guide intentionally makes large bolt batches before the later item ranges. Those bolts are consumed by Azure Silk Hood, Crimson Silk pieces, Orange Mageweave Shirt, Black Mageweave Gloves, Mageweave Bag, and the early Artisan steps.
The route uses Earthenweave Boots, Earthenweave Mantle, Earthenweave Leggings, Earthenweave Cuffs, and Earthenweave Crown as Forever-specific high-skill options.
Yes. Cloth drops from humanoid enemies rather than coming from a gathering skill, so Tailoring can be combined with any profession. Farming your own cloth while leveling simply lowers the amount of gold you need to spend at the Auction House.
Once a recipe turns yellow or green, a craft is no longer guaranteed to grant a skill point. The number of items you need depends partly on skill-up luck, so the shopping totals in this guide should be treated as estimates.
