The Legacy system in World of Warcraft: Forever ties your characters together through shared progression. By completing challenges, you earn Legacy Points that unlock useful perks for your characters and, at the same time, move you along a separate track of collectible rewards.
This guide breaks down how Legacy Points actually work, which activities award them, what you can find in the three Legacy trees, and which rewards become available as your total continues past the character spending limit.
Legacy Points are earned across your account, but every character decides independently where to spend the points you have unlocked. In other words, your characters can run completely different perk setups without fighting over one shared pool of consumable points.
At launch, players can earn up to 65 Legacy Points. A single character, however, can allocate no more than 16 points across the three Legacy trees combined. Those points still have to be earned through challenges; creating a new character does not simply hand them to you. Reaching the full cap is a long-term account progression goal that requires substantial time investment.
What does that mean in practice? If you have earned 16 points, your Paladin, Mage, and Warrior can each allocate all 16. Spending them on the Paladin does not leave the Mage or Warrior with fewer points. Even if your account reaches 32 earned points, each character still keeps the same 16-point allocation limit.
Anything you earn beyond those 16 points still matters. Extra points continue pushing the Legacy reward track forward, so you can keep completing challenges for collectibles without having to clear every available challenge just to finish your perk setup.
Legacy Challenges cover a fairly wide spread of activities: class leveling, professions, exploration, PvP, dungeons, and raids. There is no single list of 16 challenges that everyone has to complete. However, the later milestones demand significantly more time, especially when progression involves multiple classes, reputations, PvP ranks, and endgame content.

It is worth checking the wording of every challenge before planning around it. First-time milestones, in particular, should not be treated as repeatable farms: nothing in that wording confirms that another character of the same class can earn the same reward again.
A sensible starting point is to target challenges that already overlap with the character and professions you planned to play. Class progression and profession milestones can naturally stack together, giving you several objectives to work on during the same leveling journey.
Before rolling another character or diving into a long reputation grind, take a look at what is still unfinished. Sometimes the next useful milestone is already close, and chasing it makes far more sense than starting an unrelated activity from zero.
There is no claim here that this is the guaranteed fastest route. It is simply a flexible way to plan. Pick the perks you actually want first, then work backward and choose challenges that fit your available time and preferred content.
Adventure is one of the three WoW Forever Legacy trees, alongside Professions and Resourcefulness. This branch is built around faster leveling, earlier class talent progression, travel, outdoor recovery, camping, and general utility. Each perk has its own rank limit, and higher ranks improve the effect without changing the normal cap on class talent points.

Resourcefulness is more about the things you notice throughout normal play: reputation, Honor, recovery after death, and everyday convenience.
The Quick and the Dead - Improves movement while dead and temporarily reduces resource expenses after resurrection.
Reinforce - Reduces durability loss upon death.
Diplomat - Improves reputation gains.
For Great Honor - Improves Honor gains.
Permanence - Extends qualifying class buffs and camp benefits.
Gourmand - Extends food benefits.
Reagent Economy - Removes vendor-reagent requirements from class abilities and reagent costs from Tier 1 camp features.
Talented has five ranks, and every rank pushes your first class talent point one level earlier. What it does not do is raise the final cap: you still end up with a maximum of 51 class talent points.

With Talented at 5/5, your class build starts coming together five levels earlier. That does not mean five extra points are added to the final level-60 build. Before spending toward it, check the prerequisites shown in the Legacy tree and make sure the path fits your planned allocation.
WoW Forever also has a separate Legacy reward track. Collectibles unlock automatically as your total number of earned Legacy Points reaches specific milestones.

The important part here is that these rewards are tied to your total earned points, not to a currency you spend. The final reward milestones sit far beyond a basic 16-point build and can take a considerable amount of time to reach. Unlocking the pet at 25 points does not remove those 25 points from your progress.
Hardcore uses a separate Legacy progression rule from the other WoW Forever rulesets. Legacy Points earned in Normal, PvP, or Roleplaying cannot be used by Hardcore characters, so progression completed outside Hardcore will not give a newly created Hardcore character access to those points. The rule works in the other direction, however: Legacy Points earned through Hardcore progression can become available to characters in the other supported rulesets.
The same one-way rule also applies more broadly to account progress, collections, and rewards earned in Hardcore. Hardcore remains its own enclosed ecosystem, with no cross-ruleset grouping, and Blizzard has announced that the mode will become available after launch. If a Hardcore character dies, that character can be transferred out of Hardcore to another ruleset, including PvP.
There is no single Legacy setup that fits every character. A leveling character may get more immediate value from Adventure, while a gathering or crafting-focused character may lean toward Professions. Resourcefulness, meanwhile, covers reputation, Honor, and a number of smaller convenience bonuses that matter during regular play.
Before allocating your points, look beyond the final perk you want and check the full path leading to it, including any earlier ranks that are required. It is also worth checking the reset options available in-game. Do not build your plan around free resets or preset switching unless the game actually provides those options.
From there, the approach is straightforward: build around the role of the character, earn enough points to finish the setup you want, then keep progressing toward the Legacy reward milestones that interest you.
