Herbalism in WoW Forever still starts with a flower by the side of the road, and it still pays its way from the first zone you quest in. What Forever builds around that flower is the part worth learning, from the extra things a node drops to the camp objects a herbalist sets down by a fire.
Location does most of the work. The hours go into finding the right zone for each stage of the climb to 300 and knowing when to head back to a trainer. Later questions are quieter ones, about what the extra drops are worth and how much a herbalist can carry, and tauren players get a twist of their own.
Picking a herb has not changed: walk up to the node, cast, loot. Forever's additions all sit around that cast.
The trainers come first. A Junior Herbalism Trainer stops at Apprentice, so Journeyman at 50 skill means a trip to one of the 25 full trainers listed in the next section.
Herbalism has four ranks. A full trainer teaches all of them, and each rank waits for the skill shown below, so train Journeyman at 50 rather than heading out with a skill that stops at 75. Look, nodes picked at the cap add nothing to the skill.
| Rank | Skill Range | Train At | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Herbalism | 1-75 | Any time | 10c |
| Journeyman Herbalism | 75-150 | Herbalism 50 | 5s |
| Expert Herbalism | 150-225 | Herbalism 125 | 50s |
| Artisan Herbalism | 225-300 | Herbalism 200 | 5g |
There are 31 herbalism trainers. Twenty-five teach every rank, and 24 of those also sell the Incense Candle recipe for 1 silver; the six Junior Herbalism Trainers in the starting areas teach Apprentice only. Outside the capitals the full trainers stand in towns along the leveling road, from Loch Modan and Redridge Mountains down to Stranglethorn Vale and Feralas.
Every Alliance capital has a herbalism trainer, and Stormwind has three. Eight more stand in Alliance towns between Elwynn Forest and Dustwallow Marsh, all listed with coordinates in the table at the end of this section.
Shylamiir teaches in the Park at 31.4, 62.8, and Tannysa in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind City at 54.4, 84. Tel'Athir, an alchemist a few steps from Tannysa at 55.5, 85.5, teaches all four herbalism ranks as well.
Reyna Stonebranch stands just east of the Great Forge in Ironforge, at 55.6, 58.8. One version of Camping 101: Herbalism ends at Reyna's side.
Firodren Mooncaller teaches in Darnassus at 48, 68.5. Teldrassil has a full trainer of its own, listed with the starting zones below.
The three Horde capitals each have a trainer. Five more stand on the leveling road between Durotar and Feralas, among them Faruza in Tirisfal Glades, who teaches all four ranks despite the Apprentice Herbalist title.
Komin Winterhoof teaches in Thunder Bluff at 49.7, 39.5.
Martha Alliestar teaches in Undercity at 54.4, 49.9.
Six of the seven starting zones have their own Junior Herbalism Trainer, and none of those teaches past Apprentice Herbalism, while Zephras Isle, Forever's own island, has no Junior trainer at all. Four of the six add a full trainer. Both Zephras Isle trainers serve either faction.
Nancy Songflower is the Junior Herbalism Trainer at 52.4, 43.7, and Herbalist Pomeroy teaches every rank at 39.8, 48.4.
Emrys Flintbeard teaches Apprentice Herbalism at 28.8, 66.5; the higher ranks wait in Ironforge.
Eleyna Duskbreeze stands at 59.8, 41.5. Malorne Bladeleaf teaches every rank at 57.5, 60.6, and one version of the camp quest ends there.
In Mulgore the Junior Herbalism Trainer is Garan Sunstrider, at 44.2, 77.8.
Florence Nightshade covers Apprentice Herbalism from 32.4, 65.2, and Faruza teaches every rank at 59.8, 52.
Both trainers on Zephras Isle teach every rank. Halassa Fernbreeze stands at 43, 43.5 and Syriel Nightrain at 57.8, 75.4, where the island's version of Camping 101: Herbalism ends, and the island has its own Wild Harvest quest as well as more Peacebloom spawn points than any other zone.
No trainer is needed at all. An early quest in each starting zone offers a choice of three gathering manuals, and Wild Harvest is the herbalism one: it teaches Herbalism if you know fewer than two professions and adds 2 skill, up to 15, using one of your two profession slots.
| Starting Zone | Quest That Offers Wild Harvest |
|---|---|
| Elwynn Forest | Rascally Rodents |
| Dun Morogh | Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery |
| Teldrassil | The Woodland Protector |
| Durotar | Galgar's Cactus Apple Surprise |
| Mulgore | A Humble Task |
| Tirisfal Glades | Marla's Last Wish |
| Zephras Isle | Harvesting Windstones |
With 20 skill in hand, take Camping 101: Herbalism (open from level 4) to a herbalism trainer for the Incense Candle. The campfire comes first, and cooks teach it.
All 31 trainers by faction and zone; the coordinates use each zone's Forever map frame. Four of them serve either faction: the two on Zephras Isle, Flora Silverwind in Booty Bay and Malvor in Moonglade.

Herbalism levels by picking herbs, and every herb has a skill floor below which you cannot pick it. The route below runs in six brackets, each named for the herbs that open inside it, and points you to the zones where those herbs overlap most on the map.
Two habits pay off early. Keep Find Herbs active so nearby herbs show on the minimap, and visit a trainer before each rank cap, because a capped skill cannot climb past it. Find Herbs tracks one kind of thing at a time. A herbalist who also mines swaps trackers by hand.
Each herb opens at the skill shown. Zones are ordered by how many spawn points the map holds for that herb, most first, and two herbs keep to one kind of ground: Stranglekelp grows only underwater, and Wintersbite only in the snow of Alterac Mountains.
| Herb | Skill | Where It Grows Most |
|---|---|---|
| Peacebloom | 1 | Zephras Isle, Mulgore, Tirisfal Glades, Teldrassil |
| Silverleaf | 1 | Mulgore, Zephras Isle, Tirisfal Glades, Elwynn Forest |
| Earthroot | 15 | Mulgore, The Barrens, Zephras Isle, Tirisfal Glades |
| Mageroyal | 50 | The Barrens, Silverpine Forest, Loch Modan, Westfall |
| Briarthorn | 70 | The Barrens, Duskwood, Silverpine Forest, Redridge Mountains |
| Stranglekelp | 85 | Wetlands, Stranglethorn Vale, Ashenvale, Desolace |
| Bruiseweed | 100 | Stonetalon Mountains, The Barrens, Ashenvale, Duskwood |
| Wild Steelbloom | 115 | Stranglethorn Vale, Stonetalon Mountains, Arathi Highlands, Wetlands |
| Grave Moss | 120 | Desolace, Duskwood |
| Kingsblood | 125 | Stranglethorn Vale, Wetlands, Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale |
| Liferoot | 150 | Dustwallow Marsh, Stranglethorn Vale, Swamp of Sorrows, Wetlands |
| Fadeleaf | 160 | Dustwallow Marsh, Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, Alterac Mountains |
| Goldthorn | 170 | Stranglethorn Vale, Feralas, Arathi Highlands, Dustwallow Marsh |
| Khadgar's Whisker | 185 | Stranglethorn Vale, Feralas, Dustwallow Marsh, Arathi Highlands |
| Wintersbite | 195 | Alterac Mountains |
| Firebloom | 205 | Tanaris, Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Badlands |
| Purple Lotus | 210 | Azshara, The Hinterlands, Feralas, Tanaris |
| Arthas' Tears | 220 | Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands, Felwood |
| Sungrass | 230 | Feralas, Azshara, The Hinterlands, Un'Goro Crater |
| Blindweed | 235 | Swamp of Sorrows, Un'Goro Crater |
| Ghost Mushroom | 245 | The Hinterlands |
| Gromsblood | 250 | Felwood, Blasted Lands, Desolace, Ashenvale |
| Golden Sansam | 260 | Azshara, Un'Goro Crater, Eastern Plaguelands, Felwood |
| Dreamfoil | 270 | Azshara, Eastern Plaguelands, Un'Goro Crater, Felwood |
| Mountain Silversage | 280 | Winterspring, Eastern Plaguelands, Azshara, Un'Goro Crater |
| Plaguebloom | 285 | Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands, Felwood |
| Icecap | 290 | Winterspring |
| Black Lotus | 300 | Burning Steppes, Silithus, Winterspring, Eastern Plaguelands |
Peacebloom and Silverleaf open at 1 and Earthroot at 15. All three grow in every starting zone. Zephras Isle, Mulgore, Tirisfal Glades and Teldrassil carry the most points, with The Barrens and Elwynn Forest close behind, so the zone you quest in is the right one. The starting areas also hold Wilted Peacebloom and Stunted Silverleaf, small nodes that give a single herb per pick.
Train Journeyman at 50.
Mageroyal opens at 50, Briarthorn at 70 and Stranglekelp at 85. The Barrens wins this bracket easily. It carries all three herbs and far more spawn points than any other zone, though the Wetlands and Westfall carry all three too, as do Silverpine Forest, Ashenvale and Darkshore for anyone questing elsewhere. Mageroyal and Briarthorn also drop Swiftthistle from time to time.
Bruiseweed opens at 100, Wild Steelbloom at 115, Grave Moss at 120 and Kingsblood at 125. Stonetalon Mountains leads here. It carries Bruiseweed, Wild Steelbloom and Kingsblood, and the Wetlands and Stranglethorn Vale come next, then Hillsbrad Foothills, Duskwood and Ashenvale; Duskwood is the one zone among them that also carries Grave Moss in numbers.
Train Expert at 125.
Liferoot opens at 150, Fadeleaf at 160, Goldthorn at 170, Khadgar's Whisker at 185 and Wintersbite at 195. Stranglethorn Vale holds the most points for this stretch, with the first four herbs all growing there in numbers, while Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows and Arathi Highlands carry the same four and Feralas skips only Fadeleaf. Wintersbite is the odd one out. It grows nowhere but Alterac Mountains, which makes Alterac the only zone with all five.
Train Artisan at 200.
Firebloom opens at 205, Purple Lotus at 210, Arthas' Tears at 220, Sungrass at 230, Blindweed at 235 and Ghost Mushroom at 245. Fair warning: this bracket spreads out. No zone carries more than three of the six in numbers — The Hinterlands reaches three with Purple Lotus, Sungrass and Ghost Mushroom, while Feralas and Azshara pair Purple Lotus with Sungrass.
Firebloom keeps to Tanaris, Searing Gorge, the Blasted Lands and the Badlands. Blindweed is a Swamp of Sorrows herb first and an Un'Goro Crater one second, and Arthas' Tears grows in both Plaguelands and in Felwood.
Gromsblood opens at 250, Golden Sansam at 260, Dreamfoil at 270, Mountain Silversage at 280, Plaguebloom at 285, Icecap at 290 and Black Lotus at 300. Honestly, Eastern Plaguelands is the strongest finish, with Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom and Black Lotus on one map. Felwood matches it. It swaps Black Lotus for Gromsblood.
Icecap grows only in Winterspring, which also holds Mountain Silversage and Black Lotus. Azshara, Un'Goro Crater and Burning Steppes fill the gaps with Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil and Mountain Silversage.
A Forever herb node can drop more than its herb. Two kinds of extra show up: seeds, which grow into herbs in a Greenhouse, and Scarce materials, which go straight into recipes.
Seeds come in four tiers. Commonplace Herb Seeds drop from Peacebloom and Silverleaf, and Uncommon Herb Seeds from Briarthorn.
| Seed | Item Level | Seen On | Plant | Hybridize |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Commonplace Herb Seeds | 5 | Peacebloom, Silverleaf | Plant Seeds (1 seed) | Hybridize Seeds (2 seeds) |
| Uncommon Herb Seeds | 20 | Briarthorn | Plant Seeds (1 seed) | Hybridize Seeds (2 seeds) |
| Unusual Herb Seeds | 36 | - | Plant Seeds (1 seed) | Hybridize Seeds (2 seeds) |
| Scarce Herb Seeds | 46 | - | Plant Seeds (1 seed) | Hybridize Seeds (2 seeds) |
A Greenhouse sets out a planter box. Plant Seeds puts one seed into it from up to 10 yards away, and the herb is ready to harvest 8 minutes later; since a Greenhouse stands for 15 minutes, the same as a campfire, that leaves room for one harvest per Greenhouse. Commonplace Herb Seeds have grown Peacebloom and Earthroot, and Uncommon ones Silverleaf and Kingsblood.
Hybridize Seeds takes two seeds of one tier at a Seed Hybridizer, which multiplies seeds or combines them into a rarer tier, so breeding is one road to the upper tiers. Seeds fit in any herb bag. Hold on to them.
Frilled Lichen, Rosecap and Stranglevine carry the Scarce tag on their tooltip, the tag the Bountiful Harvest perk increases. Frilled Lichen turns up early: it drops from Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Bruiseweed and Kingsblood.
| Item | Type | Used In |
|---|---|---|
| Frilled Lichen | Scarce material | Enchanting: Enchant Weapon - Insight; Alchemy: Cerulean Dye |
| Rosecap | Scarce material | Enchanting: Enchant Necklace - Healing Power; Alchemy: Magenta Dye |
| Stranglevine | Scarce material | Enchanting: Enchant 2H Weapon - Mighty Healing Power; Alchemy: Viridian Dye |
| Marefoil | New herb | Engineering: Stealthman 52; Alchemy: Flask of Natural Precision, Flask of Natural Swiftness |
| Demonsage | New herb | Alchemy: Flask of Natural Accuracy, Flask of Natural Aggression |
| Death Lotus | New herb | Enchanting: Enchant Gloves - Natural Power, Enchant Gloves - Lotus Claw; Blacksmithing: Legionite Glaive; Engineering: Ultrasafe Rechargeable Battery, Gnomish Weather Machine; Alchemy: Flask of Natural Accuracy, Flask of Natural Aggression, Flask of Natural Precision, Flask of Natural Swiftness |
Marefoil, Demonsage and Death Lotus are different. They are herbs in their own right rather than extra drops, and Death Lotus is the busiest of the three, a reagent in nine recipes across Alchemy, Enchanting, Engineering and Blacksmithing. Enchant Gloves - Lotus Claw gives a small chance of Death Lotus whenever you gather any herb in Mount Hyjal.
A herbalist's three camp recipes each make one object. All of them need a campfire. Each stands for 15 minutes, every camp object shares a one-hour cooldown, and the Greenhouse or the Seed Hybridizer can go down over an Incense Candle, replacing it without losing the candle's Intellect.
| Camp Object | Herbalism | What It Does | Learned From | Reagents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Incense Candle | 20 | Intellect for everyone sitting at the camp, not with Arcane Intellect | Trainer or Camping 101: Herbalism | Peacebloom, Silverleaf |
| Greenhouse | 140 | Grows herbs from planted seeds, keeps the candle buff | Blueprint: Greenhouse | Simple Wood (2), Arthas' Tears, Purple Lotus |
| Seed Hybridizer | 300 | Multiplies seeds or combines them into rarer tiers, keeps the candle buff | Blueprint: Seed Hybridizer | Mountain Silversage (4), Crystal Vial, Runecloth (2) |
The Incense Candle's Intellect depends on the level of the herbalist who places it: 2 below level 14, 6 below 28, 12 below 42, 18 below 56 and 25 from 56 on. It does not stack with Arcane Intellect.
Blueprint: Greenhouse drops from Shadetooth, an elite beast in the Excavation Site: Wetlands dungeon, at a 6.85% drop chance — about one Blueprint every 15 kills. Blueprint: Seed Hybridizer needs Herbalism 300 to learn.
WoW Forever ProfessionsAlchemy still eats most herbs. Purple Lotus feeds four professions and Firebloom three; the table below counts every crafting recipe that takes each herb, and six of the herbs also turn up in First Aid.

Dreamfoil sits in more recipes than any other herb, 24, all of them Alchemy. Kingsblood and Goldthorn follow with 17 and 16.
Two of the smaller professions lean on herbs harder than they did in Classic. First Aid brews healing potions, from the Minor one on Peacebloom up to the Major one on Golden Sansam. Cooking adds six teas Classic never had. Each tea is a mana drink that leaves you Well Fed with 2 to 44 Healing Power for 15 minutes, plus 5% more experience from kills.
| Recipe | Profession | Herb |
|---|---|---|
| Peace Tea | Cooking | 2 Peacebloom |
| Royal Tea | Cooking | 2 Mageroyal |
| Root Tea | Cooking | 2 Liferoot |
| Triage Tea | Cooking | 2 Fadeleaf |
| Sunny Tea | Cooking | 2 Sungrass |
| Sage's Tea | Cooking | 2 Mountain Silversage |
| Minor Healing Potion | First Aid | Peacebloom |
| Lesser Healing Potion | First Aid | Briarthorn |
| Healing Potion | First Aid | Bruiseweed |
| Greater Healing Potion | First Aid | Liferoot |
| Superior Healing Potion | First Aid | Sungrass |
| Major Healing Potion | First Aid | Golden Sansam |
Herbs go in a Waylaid Crate too. Read the label to identify the lost shipment, and the herb crates take any one bundle from the lists below. A sealed Apprentice crate is worth 5 or 10 Merchant's Favor at hand-in and a Journeyman crate 10 or 20 — and the Performance Bonus perk can double either.
| Waylaid Crate | Level | Fill It With Any One Bundle |
|---|---|---|
| Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Herbs | 10 | 20 Peacebloom, 20 Silverleaf, 10 Earthroot, 10 Mageroyal, 10 Briarthorn |
| Waylaid Crate: Journeyman Herbs | 10 | 10 Stranglekelp, 10 Bruiseweed, 10 Wild Steelbloom, 10 Grave Moss, 10 Kingsblood |
| Waylaid Crate: Earthly Expert Herbs | 20 | 20 Liferoot, 10 Fadeleaf, 10 Goldthorn, 10 Khadgar's Whisker |
| Waylaid Crate: Flowering Expert Herbs | 20 | 10 Wintersbite, 10 Firebloom, 20 Purple Lotus, 10 Arthas' Tears |
| Waylaid Crate: Earthly Artisan Herbs | 35 | 10 Golden Sansam, 20 Sungrass, 10 Blindweed, 10 Ghost Mushroom, 10 Gromsblood |
| Waylaid Crate: Flowering Artisan Herbs | 35 | 20 Dreamfoil, 20 Mountain Silversage, 20 Plaguebloom, 20 Icecap |
Herbalism needs no tool. A few items raise the skill on top of what you trained, though, and one of them is a cup of tea.
| Item | Herbalism | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
| Herbalist's Gloves | +5 | Crafted with Pattern: Herbalist's Gloves (Leatherworking 110) |
| Enchant Gloves - Herbalism | +2 | Formula: Enchant Gloves - Herbalism (Enchanting 145) |
| Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism | +5 | Formula: Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism (Enchanting 225) |
| Goldthorn Tea | +15 for 15 min | Cooked with Goldthorn Tea (Cooking 175) |
Herbalist's Gloves are leather. They need level 22. The pattern is sold by Harlown Darkweave in Ashenvale for 18 silver, so an Alliance leatherworker at 110 can buy it, and the WoW Forever Leatherworking guide covers the route there. For what it's worth, put the Advanced Herbalism enchant on the gloves and the two give +10 together. Goldthorn Tea needs level 25 and ten seconds of drinking before the 15 Herbalism kicks in, and it adds 5% experience from kills on top.
Herb bags take herbs, seeds and Scarce materials — and Forever made the two big ones bigger.
| Herb Bag | Slots | Classic Era Slots | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice's Herb Pouch | 4 | New in Forever | General and trade goods vendors, 26c |
| Herb Pouch | 12 | 12 | Herbalism suppliers, 10s |
| Cenarion Herb Bag | 26 | 20 | Tailoring, Pattern: Cenarion Herb Bag (Tailoring 230, Cenarion Circle Friendly) |
| Satchel of Cenarius | 32 | 24 | Tailoring, Pattern: Satchel of Cenarius (Tailoring 255, Cenarion Circle Revered) |
The two big bags are tailoring work. Both patterns come from Mishta in Silithus, for 2 gold 25 silver and 5 gold 62 silver 50 copper, and each recipe takes Purple Lotus or Black Lotus on top of the cloth: 10 Purple Lotus for the Cenarion Herb Bag, one Black Lotus for the Satchel of Cenarius. The two pouches are vendor goods.
The tauren racial Cultivation grows a duplicate of a nearby herb that you can harvest without Herbalism skill. Each herb can be cultivated only once.
No joke, there is a catch. Cultivating a herb needs a character level equal to the herb's required skill divided by 5, so Kingsblood (125) wants level 25, Purple Lotus (210) level 42 and Black Lotus (300) level 60. Herbs that need more than 300 skill can be cultivated at level 60. A tauren herbalist gets a second herb out of the node, and a tauren with no Herbalism at all still gets the duplicate.
Four perks of the Legacy Professions tree touch Herbalism, the fourth only through crates.
| Perk | Ranks | Effect by Rank | Points Spent to Open |
|---|---|---|---|
| Working Overtime | 5 | 4% / 8% / 12% / 16% / 20% skill-up chance | 0 |
| Bountiful Harvest | 5 | 20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 100% more Scarce materials | 0 |
| Performance Bonus | 3 | 5% / 10% / 15% chance of double Merchant's Favor from a crate | 5 |
| Dedicated Study | 1 | +1 to your lowest tradeskill | 10 |
Working Overtime raises the chance of a skill point from any tradeskill, picking herbs included. Bountiful Harvest is the one built for gatherers, and at its last rank it doubles the Scarce materials a herbalist finds, Frilled Lichen from the early herb nodes among them. Performance Bonus opens at 5 points spent and gives a crate hand-in a 5%, 10% or 15% chance of double Merchant's Favor. Dedicated Study waits for 10 points. It is a 25-second cast with a 23-hour cooldown that adds a point to your lowest tradeskill. Herbalism itself earns no Legacy points. Tradeskill points come only from non-gathering professions at 150, 225 and 300.
No. Find Herbs tracks one type of thing at a time, so a character with Herbalism and Mining switches trackers by hand.
Take Wild Harvest from the early gathering-manual quest in your starting zone. It teaches Herbalism if you know fewer than two professions and adds 2 skill, up to 15.
Peacebloom and Silverleaf drop Commonplace Herb Seeds and Briarthorn drops Uncommon Herb Seeds. A seed planted in a Greenhouse is ready to harvest after 8 minutes.
From Shadetooth in the Excavation Site: Wetlands dungeon, at a 6.85% drop chance. It needs Herbalism 140.
No. The Herbalism skill line holds the ranks, Find Herbs, the camp recipes and its gathering spells, and none of them is a passive bonus, so herbalists get no extra resistance.
No. Tradeskill Legacy points come from non-gathering primary professions at 150, 225 and 300 skill. Herbalism benefits from the Professions tree through Bountiful Harvest and Working Overtime instead.
