Since the very launch of World of Warcraft, dungeons have been one of the most exciting parts of the game and a great alternative to questing during leveling, while also allowing players to prepare for endgame content with quality PvE gear. WoW Forever will also continue to develop this direction in the updated Azeroth — from launch, players will have access to nine new adventures in addition to the preserved and slightly reworked old ones, and more in the future. We'll talk about what dungeons look like in WoW Forever in our guide.
Unlike the Classic raids, which apart from Onyxia's Lair will not be available at the launch of WoW Forever, the situation with dungeons is different. All of them remain in the game, which will surely help brighten up the leveling process for players through their quests and gear. Let's refresh our memory on the list of Classic dungeons in World of Warcraft:
According to current information, they haven't undergone serious reworking, offering players the already familiar gameplay experience. However, some loot from dungeons has become far more interesting. We don't have a full list yet due to the level cap on the Beta, but even right now we can highlight the following novelties:
Surely, many more amazing discoveries await us in the future after the game's release — stay with us to keep track of them.
In addition to all the old dungeons, from November 4 players will be able to explore nine completely new ones. Let's take a look at the list:
Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, and Excavation Site became available during the Beta and showed that the new encounters allow for a new experience in terms of lore, but hardly in terms of gameplay — they're completed exactly like the old dungeons.
However, the expanded pool of dungeons in WoW Forever is definitely positive news, because they provide an opportunity to greatly diversify leveling. That's partly why the developers made certain changes to the amount of experience characters can get from runs: now mobs and bosses in dungeons give less XP, while quests give far more. This way it's worth visiting them once during leveling, but not spamming one after another, hiding other interesting activities in the open world from yourself.
As is known, WoW Forever will certainly be a game with horizontal development in the near future — characters won't be able to level above 60, but new content will be added to the game periodically. This also applies to dungeons: from the developers' plans, which you can find in our separate WoW Forever Roadmap, it's already clear that in spring and summer 2027 we'll get at least two new dungeons each. There are no details about them yet, but as soon as the information is made public, we'll update this article right away.
