Enchanting in WoW Forever gives unwanted gear a second use: instead of vendoring it, you can turn it into valuable Dust, Essences, and Shards, then use those materials for permanent weapon and armor upgrades. Disenchanting supplies a good portion of what you need while leveling, and several Forever-specific recipes also make the early skill ranges cheaper than the routes players may remember from older versions.
This WoW Forever Enchanting leveling guide covers the full route from 1 to 300, including approximate material totals, trainer locations, Runed Rod requirements, important vendor formulas, and cheaper alternatives for the ranges where reagent prices can quickly get out of hand.
Enchanting does not need a gathering profession of its own. Most reagents come from disenchanting uncommon and rare gear or simply buying Dust, Essences, and Shards from other players. Tailoring works especially well alongside it because crafted cloth gear gives you a steady source of items to disenchant.
WoW Forever also changes several of the early Enchanting recipes and their reagent costs. Mote of Magic appears right at the beginning of the profession, while the Runed Copper Rod is made from a Copper Rod and Mote of Magic. Later brackets require upgraded Runed Rods, so keep every rod you make. You will need them again.
Enchanting can burn through a lot of Dust and Essences if you follow the wrong recipe range or ignore cheaper alternatives.
The list below covers the complete 1-300 route used in this guide. The totals are approximate rather than absolute because yellow recipes do not guarantee a skill point on every craft. Keeping a small reserve of the main Dusts and Essences can save you an extra Auction House trip later.
The shopping list follows the main route only. Materials needed exclusively for alternative recipes are intentionally left out, so you are not buying reagents for two different paths at once.
You can learn Apprentice Enchanting immediately. Capital cities cover every faction, and several races also have convenient trainers close to their starting zones.
| Faction / Race | Location | Trainer |
|---|---|---|
| Horde | Orgrimmar | Jhag |
| Horde | Undercity | Malcomb Wynn |
| Horde | Thunder Bluff | Mot Dawnstrider |
| Orc / Troll | Sen'jin Village, Durotar | Pa'zula |
| Undead | Brill, Tirisfal Glades | Vance Undergloom |
| Alliance | Stormwind City | Betty Quin |
| Alliance | Ironforge | Thonys Pillarstone |
| Alliance | Darnassus | Lalina Summermoon |
| Night Elf | Oracle Glade, Teldrassil | Alanna Raveneye |
| Skyborne | Valanaar, Zephras Isle | Eaysaa Brightgust |
| Skyborne | Shen'dar Village, Zephras Isle | Nasalanna Windsinger |
Tauren characters can simply use Mot Dawnstrider in Thunder Bluff. Humans have Betty Quin in Stormwind, while Dwarves and Gnomes can train with Thonys Pillarstone in Ironforge.
| Rank | Requirement | Horde | Alliance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Journeyman | 50 Enchanting, level 10 | Godan - Orgrimmar; Lavinia Crowe - Undercity; Teg Dawnstrider - Thunder Bluff | Lucan Cordell - Stormwind; Gimble Thistlefuzz - Ironforge; Taladan - Darnassus |
| Expert | 125 Enchanting, level 20 | Hgarth - Sun Rock Retreat, Stonetalon Mountains | Kitta Firewind - Tower of Azora, Elwynn Forest |
| Artisan | 200 Enchanting, level 35 | Annora - Uldaman | Annora - Uldaman |
If you are applying the same enchant over and over, this macro can save a lot of repetitive clicking by pressing Create and confirming replacement of the existing enchant:
/run ProfessionsFrame.CraftingPage.CreateButton:Click() /run StaticPopup1Button1:Click()
Open Enchanting, choose the recipe you want, place the target item into the optional target slot, and then press the macro repeatedly.
The first 70 skill points use the new low-level Forever reagents. Pick up a Copper Rod and Mote of Magic from an Enchanting Supply vendor near one of the capital-city trainers before you start.
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | 1x Runed Copper Rod | 1x Copper Rod; 1x Mote of Magic | Keep the rod. It is required for low-level enchants. |
| 2-20 | 18x Enchant Bracer - Inferior Stamina | 18x Mote of Magic | Straightforward opening range. |
| 20-70 | 50x Enchant Chest - Inferior Stamina | 50x Strange Dust | You can disenchant low-level green items instead of buying all the dust. |
Train Journeyman once you reach 50 Enchanting and character level 10. From skill 70 onward, start checking the prices of Lesser Magic Essence and Strange Dust before buying everything for one route. This is one of the first places where the cheaper option can change from realm to realm.
Greater Magic Wand can be sold to a vendor for about 15 Silver. Each one costs 2 Lesser Magic Essence, so compare the effective wand cost against the Strange Dust route before deciding. If Lesser Magic Essence costs 7s 50c or less, the vendor value can effectively cover what you spent on the Essences.
| Skill | Default Route | Required Materials | Alternative / Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70-130 | 67x Greater Magic Wand | 67x Simple Wood; 134x Lesser Magic Essence | Yellow from 110. Sell the finished wands to a vendor. |
| 70-100 | 30x Enchant Bracer - Minor Stamina | 60x Strange Dust | Use this branch instead if Strange Dust is cheaper. |
| 100-101 | 1x Runed Silver Rod | 1x Silver Rod; 3x Strange Dust; 4x Lesser Magic Essence; 1x Shadowgem | Only needed on the Strange Dust branch at this point; keep the rod. |
| 101-110 | 10x Enchant Cloak - Minor Protection | 20x Strange Dust | Strange Dust branch. |
| 110-130 | 20x Enchant Cloak - Minor Agility | 20x Lesser Astral Essence | Alternative: 20x Enchant 2H Weapon - Minor Impact using 20x Strange Dust + 20x Small Glimmering Shard. |
| 130-131 | 1x Runed Silver Rod | 1x Silver Rod; 3x Strange Dust; 4x Lesser Magic Essence; 1x Shadowgem | Craft here if you used the wand route. |
| 131-150 | 19x Enchant Bracer - Lesser Stamina | 19x Soul Dust | If Soul Dust is expensive, use Enchant Boots - Minor Stamina at 4x Strange Dust each. |
Before heading into the next bracket, buy Formula: Enchant Bracer - Lesser Strength from Kulwia in Stonetalon Mountains if you are Horde, or Dalria in Ashenvale if you are Alliance. Those same vendors also sell Formula: Enchant Cloak - Minor Agility, so there is little reason to make a second trip later.
Expert Enchanting requires 125 skill and character level 20. Horde players need Hgarth at Sun Rock Retreat, while Alliance players train with Kitta Firewind at the Tower of Azora.
| Skill | Craft | Required Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150-151 | 1x Runed Golden Rod | 1x Golden Rod; 1x Iridescent Pearl; 1x Greater Astral Essence; 1x Soul Dust | Keep the rod. |
| 151-165 | 14x Enchant Bracer - Lesser Strength | 14x Soul Dust | Uses the vendor formula purchased earlier. |
| 165-185 | ~22x Enchant Boots - Lesser Agility | ~22x Soul Dust | Yellow from 180. Alternative: Enchant Bracer - Spirit using 1x Lesser Mystic Essence each. |
| 185-200 | 15x Enchant Bracer - Strength | 15x Vision Dust | Use Vision Dust unless Soul Dust remains significantly cheaper. |
| 200-201 | 1x Runed Truesilver Rod | 1x Truesilver Rod; 1x Black Pearl; 1x Greater Mystic Essence; 1x Vision Dust | Keep the rod for Artisan recipes. |
| 201-220 | ~35x Enchant Bracer - Strength | ~35x Vision Dust | Yellow through this range, so actual crafts vary. |
| 220-225 | 5x Enchant Cloak - Greater Defense | 5x Vision Dust | Finishes Expert Enchanting. |
Do not leave important vendor formulas for later. Extra travel and repeat dungeon trips can make Enchanting much slower to finish.
To unlock Artisan Enchanting, reach 200 Enchanting and character level 35, then find Annora inside Uldaman. She also teaches several recipes used throughout the 225-300 range, so this is one trip where arriving prepared matters. Bring enough gold and learn everything you expect to need before leaving.
Use the back entrance to Uldaman in the Badlands. Annora appears after every enemy in her room has been killed. Since several Artisan recipes are taught only by her, check the list you need and train them before walking out of the dungeon. Coming back just because one recipe was forgotten is a painful detour.

| 225-230 | 5x Enchant Gloves - Agility | 5x Vision Dust | Short guaranteed opening stretch. |
| 230-235 | 5x Enchant Boots - Stamina | 10x Vision Dust | Trainer recipe. |
| 235-250 | ~20x Enchant Chest - Superior Stamina | ~60x Vision Dust | Yellow from 240, so prepare extra. Formula: Enchant Bracer - Greater Stamina can be a strong alternative from 245. |
| 250-265 | ~20x Lesser Mana Oil | 20x Dream Dust; 20x Purple Lotus; 20x Crystal Vial | Formula sold by Kania in Silithus. Alternative: Enchant Bracer - Greater Strength. |
| 265-294 | ~32x Enchant Shield - Greater Stamina | ~192x Dream Dust | Formula sold by Daniel Bartlett in Undercity or Mythrin'dir in Darnassus. Yellow from 285. |
| 294-295 | 1x Runed Arcanite Rod | 1x Arcanite Rod; 1x Golden Pearl; 10x Illusion Dust; 4x Greater Eternal Essence; 4x Small Brilliant Shard; 2x Large Brilliant Shard | Formula sold by Lorelae Wintersong in Nighthaven, Moonglade. |
| 295-300 | 5x Enchant Cloak - Superior Defense | 40x Illusion Dust | Formula also sold by Lorelae Wintersong. You can continue Greater Stamina if Dream Dust is much cheaper. |
Use the cheapest orange recipes through each skill bracket and switch to yellow recipes only when you need to. Before buying materials, compare the Greater Magic Wand, Strange Dust, Soul Dust, and Dream Dust options. The tables above give the complete 1-300 route.
Tailoring is one of the easiest pairings. Neither profession needs a gathering profession, and many crafted cloth items can be disenchanted into Dust, Essences, and Shards for Enchanting.
Journeyman requires 50 Enchanting and level 10. Horde trainers include Godan, Lavinia Crowe, and Teg Dawnstrider. Alliance trainers include Lucan Cordell, Gimble Thistlefuzz, and Taladan.
Expert Enchanting requires 125 skill and level 20. Horde players train with Hgarth at Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon Mountains. Alliance players train with Kitta Firewind at the Tower of Azora in Elwynn Forest.
Artisan Enchanting is learned from Annora inside Uldaman. You need 200 Enchanting and character level 35. Clear every enemy in Annora's room so she appears, then learn the recipes you need before leaving.
Mote of Magic is sold by Enchanting Supply vendors and can also be produced through the Enchanting reagent conversion that turns Strange Dust into Motes. The opening route uses Mote of Magic for the Runed Copper Rod and Inferior Stamina enchants.
Compare the net cost on your realm. Greater Magic Wand costs two Lesser Magic Essence and can be sold back to a vendor, while the alternative route consumes Strange Dust. Whichever has the lower effective cost is the better route for your realm.
Kulwia in Stonetalon Mountains sells it for Horde characters, while Dalria in Ashenvale sells it for Alliance characters. The formula is bind on pickup, so make sure you buy it on the character that is actually leveling Enchanting.
Kania sells Formula: Lesser Mana Oil in Silithus. The recipe is used around 250-265 and requires Dream Dust, Purple Lotus, and Crystal Vials.
Daniel Bartlett sells the formula in Undercity for Horde players, while Mythrin'dir sells it in Darnassus for Alliance players. It is one of the main recipes used from 265 toward 300.
Lorelae Wintersong in Nighthaven, Moonglade sells Formula: Runed Arcanite Rod. She also sells Formula: Enchant Cloak - Superior Defense, so pick up both formulas while you are there.
Yes. Keep your Runed Copper, Silver, Golden, Truesilver, and Arcanite Rods. Some enchants call for a specific rod instead of simply accepting the highest-level one you own.
