WoW Forever Krol'dok Stronghold Guide
Krol'dok Stronghold is the new level 40–45 dungeon of WoW Forever, a huge open-air ogre fortress on a hill in the north of the Riverglades. Ogre raiders have been kidnapping travelers across the zone, and inside the walls Twilight's Hammer cultists work side by side with them. The run winds uphill, crosses a long wooden bridge and ends at the top with Overlord Mugg.
The dungeon opened with the launch on November 4, and the first groups cleared it a few days later. The Horde has three dungeon quests, the Alliance four, and both factions can turn a moulding that drops inside into the Krol'dok Compound Key. Below you will find the entrance and both keys, every quest with its giver, coordinates, experience and rewards, the lead-in quests that unlock them, the six bosses, all 17 known drops with the Krol'dok Battlegear plate set, and the tips the first groups learned the hard way.

How to Get to Krol'dok Stronghold
Krol'dok Stronghold sits on a hill north of Sunnyglade, in the new zone between the Badlands, Redridge Mountains and the Swamp of Sorrows. The large fortress gates stand at about 43.5, 39.5 and stay closed: the portal is in a small cave to the west of them, at 37.5, 37.2. Walk west from the gates along the hillside, and you pass a meeting stone at about 39, 39 halfway to the cave.
The Krol'dok Stronghold portal sits in a small cave west of the gates, at about 37.5, 37.2
Horde players fly to Rog'mar in the middle of the zone, ride north and keep left around the mountains until the river and the gates come into view; the road is almost free of mobs. The Alliance flies to Farholde Keep in the south-east (flight master at 60.6, 81.6) and has a longer ride north. From Kalimdor, the ship from Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris docks at Powderfuse Port on the east coast, and you can also walk in from the south of the Badlands past Twilight's Shroud or from Redridge Mountains through Blackrock Pass.
Riverglades: 1 portal cave, 2 meeting stone, 3 gates, 4 Rog'mar (Krom'rosh, Kreza Darkthorn, Horde flight master), 5 Da'grosh, 6 Sergeant Riftan, 7 Farholde Keep givers, 8 Alliance flight master
No attunement is needed to enter. The dungeon counts toward Experienced Spelunker, the account-wide achievement for ten dungeons that earns 1 Legacy Point. Our WoW Forever new zones guide covers the rest of the zone, from its quest hubs to the goblin port.
Krol'dok Compound Key and Krol'dok Ogre Key
Two keys belong to the dungeon, and neither is needed to enter. The Krol'dok Ogre Key drops from Overlord Mugg. Its icon is a hammer, and the first group that looted it says it opens a shortcut door down the hill, so on the next run you skip the walk up and over the bridge. The Krol'dok Compound Key starts as a Krol'dok Moulding, party loot that every group member can pick up. Which mob drops it is not confirmed, but in the first recorded run a "key casting" piece dropped right after Tunk, an elite ogre blacksmith on the way up. Take it.
The moulding starts Krol'dok Moulding (Horde) or Krol'dok Moulding (Alliance), which sends you to Kreza Darkthorn at Rog'mar (59.8, 46.0) or Alphonse Dumas at Farholde Keep (64.4, 82.0). In Key Ingredients (Horde) or Key Ingredients (Alliance) the smith takes 4 Thick Leather and 12 Iron Bars and makes the key, which is not consumed when used. Each step pays 3,300 experience and 55 silver. What the key opens is not confirmed yet; the first group found a locked door after Tunk that may be its lock. More keys are in our WoW Forever attunements and dungeon keys guide.
Krol'dok Stronghold Quests
Almost every giver stands in the Riverglades, so you can pick everything up on the way. Quest experience is not split in a group, so everyone with a quest gets the full amount. Some givers are not on Wowhead yet, and the table says where we are not sure.
Krol'dok Stronghold Quests by Faction
Horde Quests
3 dungeon quests, 30,750 XP
Eye of Mugg is the main quest and the only one with blue rewards. Tome of Twilight and A Token of Vengeance still have no confirmed giver, so read the chain notes under the table before you leave Rog'mar.
| Quest | Level | Starts | XP | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eye of Mugg | Level 45, from 40 | Krom'rosh at Rog'mar, 59.4, 45.5 | 11,500 | Choice of Rock on Stick (blue), Bigger Rock on Bigger Stick (blue) or Stick No Rock (blue), plus 1 gold 30 silver |
| Tome of Twilight | Level 44, from 39 | Giver not known yet | 11,050 | Choice of Indoctrinated Choker (green) or Convert's Bindings (green) |
| A Token of Vengeance | Level 42, from 38 | Not confirmed, most likely Da'grosh at 33.4, 38.0, after Bring Me His Head | 8,200 | Semblance of Twilight (green neck) |
Alliance Quests
4 dungeon quests, 44,250 XP
Three quests come from the Riverglades, one from Dalaran, and all four pay Brotherhood of the Horse reputation. The follow-ups are explained under the table.
| Quest | Level | Starts | XP | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eye of Mugg | Level 45, from 40 | Commander Demar Brant at Farholde Keep, 66.5, 80.9 | 11,500 | The same three blue weapons, plus 1 gold 30 silver and 150 reputation |
| Tome of Twilight | Level 44, from 39 | Ashe Amberhall at Farholde Keep, 66.6, 81.0, after A Small Favor | 11,050 | Choice of Twilight Initiate's Belt (green) or Torn Cultist Cloak (green), plus 150 reputation |
| Twilight Mementos | Level 42, from 38 | Most likely Sergeant Riftan at 30.5, 48.9, after Bring Me His Head | 10,200 | No item, 150 reputation |
| Vengeance of the Highborne | Level 45, from 37 | Ranath Nightstride in the inn of Dalaran, Alterac Mountains 17.8, 66.0 | 11,500 | 65 silver, 250 Kirin Tor and 150 reputation |
Horde Quest Chains in the Riverglades
Horde players arriving in the zone get Report to Rog'mar, which leads to Krom'rosh at Rog'mar (59.4, 45.5). He gives Eye of Mugg: kill Overlord Mugg and bring back the Eye of Mugg. The reward is the best of the dungeon, a choice of three blue ogre weapons, including the caster staff Stick No Rock with up to 101 healing.
A Token of Vengeance asks for 15 Cultist Ears from the cultists inside, and Wowhead does not list its giver. Its text speaks for the warriors the Horde freed from the cult, the same story as Bring Me His Head, where Da'grosh (33.4, 38.0) sends you to kill Overlord Kilgar in the Twilight's Shroud. The Alliance twin of this quest opens only after that kill, so do Bring Me His Head first and look for A Token of Vengeance at Da'grosh; this is not confirmed yet. The giver of Tome of Twilight, which takes the Tome of Twilight from Nar'gurk, is not known either.
Alliance Quest Chains from Farholde Keep
The Alliance Tome of Twilight has a lead-in that is easy to miss. Ashe Amberhall at Farholde Keep (66.6, 81.0) first sends you to Sunnyglade for Scraps of Knowledge (5 Twilight Pages) and Curious Trinkets (25 Twilight Charms from Twilight Shadowmancers and Neophytes). Then comes A Small Favor: take Amberhall's Soulstone to a conduit in the Twilight's Shroud, summon a Twilight Thrall, weaken it and capture it. The quest is not sharable and pays 3,750 experience and 100 reputation, and the thrall's answers point her to Nar'gurk.
Twilight Mementos asks for 8 Twilight Bangles. Players report it unlocks after you hand Kilgar's Head to Sergeant Riftan (30.5, 48.9) in Bring Me His Head, so most likely he gives it too. The satchels lead on: Lingering Essence, most likely its follow-up, takes the Satchel of Cursed Mementos to Ashe Amberhall, and her Curios of Curiosity takes the Satchel of Mementos to the enchanter Melanie Sable (66.2, 83.2) for the blue Curio-Adorned Necklace. Each pays 3,450 experience, 55 silver and 100 reputation.
Vengeance of the Highborne comes from Ranath Nightstride in the Dalaran inn (17.8, 66.0 in the Alterac Mountains). He wants Zalfan Moonshadow dead, a highborne who joined the cult, and the quest is sharable. The first groups met Zalfan Moonshadow after Tunk, on the way to the bridge.
The quests are also in our tool below, which updates as the game data fills in. Every dungeon quest from level 10 to 60 is in our WoW Forever dungeon quests guide.
Quest Items Inside Krol'dok Stronghold
Most quests ask for items rather than kills. Since the November 6 hotfix, quest item drops in the Riverglades are shared by the whole party.
- Eye of Mugg: from Overlord Mugg.
- Tome of Twilight: from Nar'gurk.
- Cultist Ears (Horde, 15) and Twilight Bangles (Alliance, 8): from the Twilight's Hammer cultists. Kill every cultist on the way.
- Krol'dok Moulding: party loot, starts the key quests.
Krol'dok Stronghold Bosses
The game data lists five encounters: Slavecrusher Grox, Twilight Commander Zarmok, War Handler Ashka, Nar'gurk and Overlord Mugg. Bossman Toof is not among them, but he has his own loot and stands on the road to the last boss, so we count him as the sixth. Two elites matter too: Tunk, the blacksmith, and Zalfan Moonshadow, the quest target. These notes come from the first recorded clears.
Krol'dok Stronghold map; the entrance is in the south-west corner (map: Atlas de Azeroth: Forever by Santiago Reyes)
| Order | Boss | Level | What we know |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Slavecrusher Grox | 42 | After a long trash section with patrols |
| 2 | Twilight Commander Zarmok | 43 | Heavy bleed, his death opens the next gate |
| 3 | War Handler Ashka | Not known | Shown with two wolves, not met in the first runs |
| 4 | Nar'gurk | 44 | Takes control of a player |
| 5 | Bossman Toof | 42 | Not one of the five encounters |
| 6 | Overlord Mugg | 45 | Last boss, jumps around the room |
Our dungeon tool shows the bosses and their loot and fills in as the game data is updated.
Slavecrusher Grox
Slavecrusher Grox waits after several ogre packs and a patrol that walks a long way. Let the patrol pass before you pull. The first groups saw no special ability; the trash before him is the hard part. He drops Resistance Breaker Spaulder, Chain of Binding and Slavecrusher Scepter.

Twilight Commander Zarmok
Twilight Commander Zarmok leads the cultists. His bleed hits hard, so keep the tank topped up and remove bleeds if your class can. The big gate behind him opens when he dies. The game data also has a Head of Zarmok that no known quest asks for yet. He drops Zarmok's Plated Signet and Shadowlight Athame.

War Handler Ashka
War Handler Ashka is the ogre handler Blizzard showed with two wolves. None of the first recorded groups found her, so she may stand off the main road. Players have looted Bloodied Gutslicer from her, and War Handler's Gaze is most likely hers too.
Nar'gurk
Nar'gurk, "The Corruptor", takes control of a player. In the first recorded kill the charmed player turned on the group, so fight near cover to break line of sight and keep crowd control ready. He drops the Tome of Twilight, Chain of the Corruptor and the Krol'dok Warplate Chest.
Nar'gurk, "The Corruptor": "Puny. Pathetic. You suffer now!"
Bossman Toof
Bossman Toof waits after the bridge, before the climb to the last boss. He drops Toofbreaker and Big-Belly Belt.

Overlord Mugg
Overlord Mugg fights at the top of the hill with a weapon in each hand. He jumps around the room, so spread out, and kill his adds first: they put a healing reduction on the tank. He drops the Eye of Mugg, the Krol'dok Ogre Key, Emblem of Slamming and Mugg's Jabber.

Krol'dok Stronghold Loot
Every boss drops blue items of item level 44 to 47. Twelve of the 17 items have been seen dropping in the first clears. The other five are new items in the game data, matched to a boss by name or set, so treat them as probable. Drop chances are not recorded yet.

Krol'dok Battlegear Plate Set
Krol'dok Battlegear is the dungeon's own plate set for tanks. Only the chest has been seen dropping, from Nar'gurk. Nobody has posted where the other four pieces drop, and one group mentioned plate set shoulders near Bossman Toof. These are the bonuses:
- 2 pieces: +100 armor.
- 3 pieces: +5 Defense.
- 4 pieces: chance on block to heal you for 14 to 23, doubled in strongholds and cities.
- 5 pieces: taking damage can raise your Stamina by 1 for 30 seconds, stacking up to 20 times.
Tips for Krol'dok Stronghold
The first groups were above the dungeon's level and still had close calls. These are the lessons from those runs.
- Do Bring Me His Head (Alliance) or Bring Me His Head (Horde), and the Alliance A Small Favor, first. They are done outside, in the Twilight's Shroud, and unlock dungeon quests.
- Watch the ogre cleaves. Many ogres hit everyone around them in a full circle, so melee should stand behind and the tank should turn packs away.
- Kill the peons fast. They yell for help and bring more ogres.
- Crowd control the casters and hunters at the back of a pack, and watch for nets and disarms from the brutes.
- Wait for the long patrols to pass instead of pulling into them.
- Cross the bridge through the middle. The packs on the left join if you drift too close.
The long wooden bridge; Bossman Toof's pack waits at the far end
- Bring a decurse for Zalfan Moonshadow.
- Loot the moulding and keep the Ogre Key: the first makes the Compound Key, the second opens the shortcut on the next run.
- Ride your mount inside, the walks between bosses are long.
- Go at 42 or higher. Almost every mob is an elite, a run takes about half an hour once you know the way, and above 45 the mobs give little experience.
What We Still Don't Know About Krol'dok Stronghold
We will update the guide as more groups clear the dungeon.
- Who gives the Horde Tome of Twilight and Lingering Essence, and whether Da'grosh and Sergeant Riftan give the cultist quests.
- What the Compound Key opens, and which mob drops the moulding.
- Where War Handler Ashka stands, where the other four set pieces drop, and the drop chances.
If you would rather skip the patrols and the cleaves, our WoW Forever Krol'dok Stronghold boost clears the dungeon with an organized team, with quest rewards, gear and experience included.

WoW Forever Krol'dok Stronghold FAQ
These are the questions players ask most often about Krol'dok Stronghold.
What level is Krol'dok Stronghold in WoW Forever?
It is built for levels 40 to 45. Blizzard first showed it as 40–55 and corrected that to 40–45. The quests open at level 37 to 40 and are level 41 to 45, so a group at 42 or higher has the smoothest run.
Where is the Krol'dok Stronghold entrance?
In the north of the Riverglades, on the hill above Sunnyglade. The fortress gates are at about 43.5, 39.5, but they stay closed: the portal is in a small cave west of them, at 37.5, 37.2, with a meeting stone on the way at about 39, 39.
How many quests does Krol'dok Stronghold have?
Seven dungeon quests: three for the Horde and four for the Alliance. With the two key quests per faction, the Alliance follow-ups and A Small Favor, they are worth about 37,350 experience for the Horde and 61,500 for the Alliance.
What do the Krol'dok Compound Key and Ogre Key open?
The Krol'dok Ogre Key from Overlord Mugg opens a shortcut door down the hill. The Krol'dok Compound Key comes from the moulding quests, and what it opens is not confirmed yet. Neither key is needed to enter.
Can both factions run Krol'dok Stronghold?
Yes. It is contested, both factions use the same portal, and each has its own quest givers.
What does Krol'dok Stronghold drop?
17 blue items of item level 44 to 47 are known so far, 12 of them seen dropping, plus the five-piece Krol'dok Battlegear plate set. Eye of Mugg pays a choice of three blue ogre weapons.
