WoW Forever Maraudon Guide

Updated 15 Oct 2026 | Author: Kir | ~10 min

Maraudon is the sacred cave of the centaur in Desolace, where Princess Theradras and her corrupted children poison the land. It is a big dungeon of the late 40s in WoW Forever with three parts: the purple Wicked Grotto, the orange Foulspore Cavern and the waterfall halls of Earth Song Falls. All of its quests are open to both factions or have a version for each side, and the Scepter of Celebras opens a shortcut straight to the last bosses.

Maraudon is not open on the WoW Forever beta yet, so this guide covers the original version of the dungeon: how to get there, every quest, all bosses and the loot. The Forever database already shows reworked items with new effects, such as a Fist of Stone that restores three times more mana against earth elementals and golems, and a much faster bleed on the Gatorbite Axe. We describe everything known so far and will add the rest after the November 4 launch.

Where Is Maraudon and How to Get There

Maraudon lies in the Valley of Spears in Desolace, north of Shadowprey Village and west of the Kodo Graveyard. Horde players fly to Shadowprey Village and ride north. Alliance players fly to Nijel's Point in the north of Desolace and ride south along the road.

Outside the instance, two tunnels lead into the mountain: one lined with purple crystals and one with orange crystals. The purple path leads to the Wicked Grotto, the orange path to the Foulspore Cavern, and both meet at the waterfall of Poison Falls. Several quest objectives sit in the outer caves, so collect them on the way in.

Part of Maraudon Levels in WoW Forever Bosses
Wicked Grotto (purple) 45 to 53 Lord Vyletongue, Khans
Foulspore Cavern (orange) 45 to 53 Noxxion, Razorlash
Earth Song Falls 48 to 57 Celebras the Cursed, Landslide, Tinkerer Gizlock, Rotgrip, Princess Theradras

Maraudon Quests

Maraudon has eight quests, and every one of them is available to both factions, either as one quest or as a separate version for each side. The quests to prioritize are Corruption of Earth and Seed, which pays the best weapons for killing Princess Theradras, and the Legends of Maraudon chain, which ends with the Scepter of Celebras.

Quests for Both Factions

These four quests are the same for both factions:

Quest Level Quest Giver Objective Reward
Legends of Maraudon and The Scepter of Celebras 49, requires 41 Cavindra on the orange side outside the instance Bring the Celebrian Rod from Noxxion and the Celebrian Diamond from Lord Vyletongue, then defeat Celebras the Cursed Scepter of Celebras
Twisted Evils 47, requires 41 Willow in Desolace Collect 25 Theradric Crystal Carving from the demons and elementals of the purple side Acumen Robes, Sprightring Helm, Relentless Chain or Hulkstone Pauldrons
The Pariah's Instructions 48, requires 39 The Centaur Pariah in southern Desolace Collect the gems of the five centaur Khans inside and the amulet from The Nameless Prophet outside Mark of the Chosen
Seed of Life 51, requires 39 Zaetar's Spirit, who appears after Princess Theradras dies Bring the Seed of Life to Keeper Remulos in Moonglade Gold, experience and Cenarion Circle reputation

After the fight, the spirit Celebras the Redeemed combines both parts into the scepter. It opens a portal from the entrance area straight to Earth Song Falls on later runs.

Quests With an Alliance and a Horde Version

These three quests have one version for each faction with the same objective and reward:

Quest Level Alliance Quest Giver Horde Quest Giver Objective Reward
Corruption of Earth and Seed 51, requires 45 Keeper Marandis at Nijel's Point Selendra in Desolace Kill Princess Theradras Thrash Blade, Resurgence Rod or Verdant Keeper's Aim
Vyletongue Corruption 47, requires 41 Talendria at Nijel's Point Vark Battlescar in Shadowprey Village Fill the Coated Cerulean Vial at the orange lake outside, use it on corrupted plants on the orange side and kill the scions Woodseed Hoop, Sagebrush Girdle and Branchclaw Gauntlets
Shadowshard Fragments 42, requires 39 Archmage Tervosh in Theramore Uthel'nay in Orgrimmar Collect ten Shadowshard Fragment from the shadowshard elementals in the purple caves outside the instance Zealous Shadowshard Pendant or Prodigious Shadowshard Pendant

What We Already Know About Maraudon in WoW Forever

The Forever database already lists Maraudon with its loot and quests. The bosses show no changes so far, and no new drops or new quests have appeared yet. Several quest rewards, such as the Shadowshard pendants and the Woodseed Hoop, are still hidden in the Forever data, so expect new versions at launch.

Reworked Loot With New Effects

Almost every Maraudon drop has new stats. These items changed the most:

Item Classic WoW Forever
Fist of Stone Restores 50 mana on hit Restores 32 mana on hit, three times as much against earth elementals, golems and titan-forged enemies
Gatorbite Axe Bleed for 230 damage over 30 seconds Bleed for 210 damage over 7 seconds

Caster gear gained Spell Power across the board: Soothsayer's Headdress, Nature's Embrace, Rotgrip Mantle and Satyrmane Sash. The Eye of Theradras gained critical strike, and the Megashot Rifle became slower but hits harder.

Maraudon Bosses and Strategy

Maraudon has eleven bosses including the five Khans. The order below follows the usual full clear.

Lord Vyletongue

Lord Vyletongue waits at the end of the purple side with two guards. He shoots and teleports away, so the whole group stacks on the tank and moves together when he blinks. Kill Vyletongue first, then his guards. He drops Satyrmane Sash, Infernal Trickster Leggings and Satyr's Lash, and the Celebrian Diamond.

Noxxion

Noxxion lives in a toxic pool on the orange side. He uses Toxic Volley and Uppercut, and after a while he splits into small copies. Kill the copies, and he returns. Pulling him out of the pool makes the adds easier. He drops Noxious Shooter, Heart of Noxxion and Noxxion's Shackles, and the Celebrian Rod.

Razorlash

Razorlash is a giant plant with a cleave and a painful bleed. Casters stay at maximum range, and the tank faces him away from the melee. He drops Vinerot Sandals, Phytoskin Spaulders and more.

Celebras the Cursed

Celebras the Cursed fights like a Druid and keeps summoning treants. Interrupt his Wrath, burn him first and then kill the treants. After the fight, talk to his spirit for The Scepter of Celebras. He drops Claw of Celebras, Grovekeeper's Drape and Soothsayer's Headdress.

Meshlok the Harvester

Meshlok the Harvester is a rare in Poison Falls. Tank him away from the group, spread out against his War Stomp and watch for his Earth Shock interrupts. He drops Nature's Embrace and more.

Landslide

Landslide throws players around. Tank him with the back to a wall, and keep ranged players at distance. His rock shards despawn when he dies. He drops Fist of Stone, Helm of the Mountain and more.

Tinkerer Gizlock

Tinkerer Gizlock uses a dragon gun in front of him, so the tank faces him away, and everyone else stacks in melee range to stop his ranged attacks. He drops Megashot Rifle and Inventor's Focal Sword.

Rotgrip

Rotgrip is a huge crocolisk with a bleed and a hard bite. Make sure the tank has threat before the group attacks, and keep the tank topped off. He drops Gatorbite Axe, Albino Crocscale Boots and Rotgrip Mantle.

Princess Theradras

Princess Theradras is the last boss. She fears the group with Repulsive Gaze and knocks players back with Dust Field, so fight her near the back of her cavern, use Fear Ward or Tremor Totem, and keep ranged players at maximum range. After her death, Zaetar's Spirit appears for Seed of Life. She drops Princess Theradras' Scepter, Blackstone Ring, Charstone Dirk, Eye of Theradras, Bracers of the Stone Princess and more.
