How to Get Legacy Points from PvP in WoW Forever

Updated 09 Oct 2026 | Author: Kir | ~5 min

In WoW Forever, battlegrounds pay for more of your character's Legacy perks than anything else in the game. Twelve of the 29 Legacy Points a single character can earn come from PvP, while each character can spend at most 16 at launch on November 4, 2026. Eight of those twelve follow the season calendar, so a player who hits the weekly rank ceiling and does the Field of Honor quests finishes them by week 10 of the first season. The other four come from reaching Exalted with the four battleground factions, Darkspear Islands included, and depend only on how much you play. Below, you'll find how the Legacy system works, all 12 PvP challenges with the earliest week for each, the perks worth taking as a PvP player and the fastest route through the first season.

Why PvP Matters for WoW Forever Legacy

Legacy is WoW Forever's account-wide progression: 65 Legacy Challenges, each worth one point, spent on per-character perks and collected for account rewards. Points are shared by all your non-Hardcore characters and never reset. Not every challenge fits on one character, though, and that is where PvP stands out.

Category Legacy Points On one character?
Classes (25, 45, 60 per class) 27 3
Tradeskills (150, 225, 300 per profession) 18 Up to 6
Player vs. Player 12 All 12
Dungeons and raids 6 6
Adventure 2 2
Total 65 29

The system unlocks with your first Legacy Point - usually at level 25 - and opens with the Y key.

All 12 PvP Legacy Challenges

Eight of the twelve are tied to the season calendar, so the earliest you can finish them is week 10 of your first season. The four reputation points depend only on how much you play.

Challenge Points Earliest week (datamined cap)
Reach Rank 3 (Sergeant) 1 Week 1
Reach Rank 7 (Knight-Lieutenant / Blood Guard) 1 Week 4
Reach Rank 10 (Lieutenant Commander / Champion) 1 Week 7
Reach Rank 13 (Field Marshal / Warlord) 1 Week 9
Reach Rank 14 (Grand Marshal / High Warlord) 1 Week 10
Field of Honor journey: week 4 quest 1 Week 4
Field of Honor journey: week 7 quest 1 Week 7
Field of Honor journey: week 10 quest 1 Week 10
Exalted: Warsong Gulch reputation 1 Depends on play time
Exalted: Arathi Basin reputation 1 Depends on play time
Exalted: Alterac Valley reputation 1 Depends on play time
Exalted: Darkspear Islands reputation (Darkspear Raiders / Theramore Expeditionary Force) 1 Depends on play time

All twelve are one-time per account. The Field of Honor tasks stay available in later seasons, so a missed week isn't lost. The earliest weeks for ranks assume the datamined beta weekly rank cap holds at launch.

Five of these points come from ranks, and our WoW Forever PvP ranks guide explains how the weekly cap shapes the climb to Rank 14.

Legacy Perks Worth Taking for PvP

Perks are bought per character, so a PvP main can specialise. These are the ones that touch PvP; Blizzard hasn't published exact values yet.

Perk Tree What it does for PvP
For Great Honor Resourcefulness Increases Honor gains from PvP - more gear per hour of battlegrounds
Diplomat Resourcefulness Increases reputation gains - faster Exalted with the four battleground factions, which are 4 more Legacy Points
High Alert Adventure Better stealth detection outside battlegrounds - useful against rogues and druids in world PvP
The Quick and the Dead Resourcefulness Faster corpse runs, free party and raid buffs after resurrecting - helps after a world PvP wipe
Reinforce Resourcefulness Less durability damage from dying
Gourmand Resourcefulness Longer food buffs

Field Medicine shortens Recently Bandaged, but it doesn't work in battlegrounds. Legacy perks are allowed in The Forever Open duel tournament.

Fastest Route to All 12 PvP Legacy Points

The order below assumes you play every week of your first season and want every PvP point on your account as early as the calendar allows.

  1. Reach the weekly rank ceiling every week of your first season. That alone gives the five rank points by week 10.
  2. Do the Field of Honor quest in weeks 4, 7 and 10. Three more points, and the tasks stay open in later seasons if you miss one.
  3. Spread your battlegrounds across all four maps. Your gear already needs marks from each one, and every match moves its reputation.
  4. Turn spare Marks of Honor into reputation. Battleground quests trade marks for reputation; take Diplomat to speed up the four Exalted points.
  5. Do it once. All twelve are account-wide and one-time, so later seasons are only for that season's gear, mount and title.

The reputation part takes the longest. If you'd rather not grind it yourself, WoW Forever Reputations covers the battleground factions, and WoW Forever Marks of Honor Farm gets you the marks to trade in.

Our WoW Forever Honor farming guide covers the fastest ways to earn the Honor and marks this route runs on.
