Undead Paladins are new in WoW Forever, and they get a class weapon quest of their own. At level 18 the chain starts in Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades, pulls you into a rescue on Fenris Isle, sends you through three dungeons for materials and ends with Old Fire-Eye, an elite worgen that cannot be hurt by ordinary weapons. The reward is Wolfsbane, an item level 31 two-handed sword with +9 Stamina, +10 Intellect and a Holy proc that hits wolves and worgen three times as hard. Alliance Paladins still do the Classic chain from Jordan Stilwell for Verigan's Fist, which picked up a new proc of its own during the beta.
Below you will find every step for both factions with coordinates, where each material drops, how to beat Old Fire-Eye at level 20, and how Wolfsbane compares with Verigan's Fist. Everything is checked against the beta build of October 15, 2026.
Both chains open at level 20 and give an item level 31 two-hander, roughly ten levels ahead of anything that drops around you. The Horde chain is longer because it adds a story part in Silverpine Forest and an elite fight at the end, while the Alliance chain adds an escort-style defense in Westfall and an extra trip to Loch Modan. Here is how the two compare:
| Detail | Horde (Undead) | Alliance (Human, Dwarf) |
|---|---|---|
| Reward | Wolfsbane, two-hand sword | Verigan's Fist, two-hand mace |
| Required level | 18 for the first quests, 20 from A Moon-Kissed Blade on | 20 for every step |
| First quest | Diplomatic Incident from Danitha Morr in Bandarion Keep | The Tome of Valor from your Paladin trainer |
| Dungeons | The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep and the entrance of Blackfathom Deeps | The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep and the entrance of Blackfathom Deeps |
| Hardest step | Old Fire-Eye, level 25 elite | The trip to The Deadmines and the Defias waves at Daphne's house |
| Smith | Ott in Tarren Mill | Jordan Stilwell outside Ironforge |
The Horde chain has 13 quests plus one side quest for the Kor Gem. Most of them are short talks, so the time goes into three dungeon runs, the travel between two continents and the final fight. Pick up each quest before you leave for the next zone, because the materials are quest items that only drop while the quest is in your log. The table shows the full order:
| Step | Quest | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Diplomatic Incident | Danitha Morr, Bandarion Keep, Tirisfal Glades (22.0, 44.6) |
| 2 | A Curious Pair | Trevan Rol, The Sepulcher (43.4, 41.0) |
| 3 | A Grim Fate | Deathguard Baldren, The Sepulcher (45.6, 41.8) |
| 4 | Into Fenris Keep | Charred Remains, Fenris Isle (65.0, 34.2) |
| 5 | Lumina Windsinger | Lumina Windsinger, cellar of Fenris Keep |
| 6 | The Windshaper's Wrath | Escort from Fenris Keep, turn in at The Sepulcher |
| 7 | The Debt | Lumina Windsinger, The Sepulcher (43.2, 41.0) |
| 8 | A Moon-Kissed Blade | Materials from The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep and Blackfathom Deeps |
| 8a | Seeking the Kor Gem | Ulric Frostveil, Zoram'gar Outpost, Ashenvale (11.8, 34.5) |
| 9 | An Underrated Talent | Ott, Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills (60.5, 26.0) |
| 10 | Ott's Masterwork | Ott forges the blade |
| 11 | The Moonsilver Blade | Back to Trevan Rol in The Sepulcher |
| 12 | Old Fire-Eye | Old Fire-Eye at the Greymane Wall (49.7, 87.9) |
Bandarion Keep is the new Undead Paladin area in the west of Tirisfal Glades, north of the lake. Once you reach level 18, Danitha Morr gives you Diplomatic Incident: two envoys of the Earthen Ring have gone missing in Silverpine Forest on their way to Tarren Mill, and the Forsaken Paladins want to prove their worth by finding them. Travel south to The Sepulcher and speak with Trevan Rol in the crypt.
Trevan sends you to Deathguard Baldren at the entrance of The Sepulcher (A Curious Pair), who saw gnolls burn a large body on Fenris Isle (A Grim Fate). Swim east to the island and click the Charred Remains on the shore: the body is a tauren, but there is no sign of the elf. Into Fenris Keep then sends you into the cellar of Fenris Keep, where Lumina Windsinger, a Skyborne of the Windshapers, is locked in a cage.
For Lumina Windsinger you kill Rot Hide Gnolls in the keep until one drops the Fenris Isle Key, then use it on the cage. The Windshaper's Wrath is an escort: Lumina walks out of the keep and down to the landing while new gnolls attack, and she must survive the trip. Fenris Keep is crowded and respawns fast, so take a friend or two if you can. The Lumina Windsinger quest can be shared, which helps when several Paladins go together.
Back in The Sepulcher, Lumina tells you in The Debt what really happened: a worgen attacked them on the road, and her companion Banon was bitten and turned before the gnolls caught them. She wants the beast that doomed him dead.
Lumina Windsinger gives you A Moon-Kissed Blade, and Trevan Rol hands you Trevan's Weapon Notes with the list of materials. Keep the notes in your bags until the end of the chain. You need three items, and you can collect them in any order:
The most efficient route for the Horde starts with the zeppelin from Brill to Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale. From there, swim north along the coast to Westfall and walk to the mine entrance in Moonbrook. Every Deadmines quest is Alliance-only, so ask your group to clear to Sneed and the woodcarvers, and expect Alliance players along the way on PvP realms.
Everything about the dungeon route, the bosses and the loot is in our WoW Forever Deadmines guide.
Shadowfang Keep is the Horde's home dungeon and the hardest of the three at level 20. Archmage Arugal teleports around the room and drops his threat after each teleport, so stop attacking until the tank picks him up again, and break line of sight around the corners to dodge his Void Bolts. The ingot is on a table in his room once he is dead. For the full route and boss tactics, read our WoW Forever Shadowfang Keep guide.
For the Kor Gem, travel to the Crossroads in The Barrens, run north into Ashenvale and grab the Splintertree Post flight path on the way. Ulric Frostveil waits at Zoram'gar Outpost on the western coast. The Blackfathom Tide Priestesss and Blackfathom Oracles that drop the gem stand outside the dungeon, around the ruins at the entrance, so you do not have to zone in. Seeking the Kor Gem can be shared, but the gem does not drop for everyone in the group from the same kill.
If you want to run the dungeon itself on the same trip, our WoW Forever Blackfathom Deeps guide covers the bosses and the quests inside.
Return to Trevan Rol with the three materials. He sends you to Ott, an orc weaponsmith in Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills whose plain blades surprised even the smiths of Undercity (An Underrated Talent). Ott takes the Bundle of Blacksmithing Materials, walks to his anvil and forges your blade while you watch (Ott's Masterwork). If you do not have the Tarren Mill flight path yet, follow the road east from The Sepulcher into Hillsbrad Foothills and turn north to the town.
Bring Ott's Masterwork back to Trevan in The Moonsilver Blade. He inspects it and rewards you with the Moonsilver Blade: item level 31, 57 to 86 damage at speed 3.40, +7 Stamina and +7 Intellect. It is already a good weapon at level 20, and its proc is the key to the last fight.
Speak with Lumina Windsinger for Old Fire-Eye, the last quest of the chain. Old Fire-Eye hunts in a large area south of The Sepulcher and is usually found near the gates to Gilneas, at the Greymane Wall around 49.7, 87.9. Kill him with the Moonsilver Blade equipped, return to Lumina, and she infuses the blade with the magic of her people. The result is Wolfsbane, plus 2,650 experience and reputation with Undercity, Orgrimmar and the Earthen Ring.
Old Fire-Eye is a level 25 elite worgen, five levels above the Paladin who usually fights him. He is protected by an aura of unnatural resilience that keeps him from taking damage, which players on the beta saw as a purple barrier around him. The Moonsilver Blade is the answer. Its proc burns the aura away, and the debuff it leaves makes him take double damage from Holy attacks and spells.
These steps make the fight much easier:
Players on the beta did solo him at level 20, but it is slow and painful without full weapon skill. If someone has just killed him, wait for the respawn near the wall. It is a good idea to do the fight at 22 to 24 if you are not in a hurry.
Human and Dwarf Paladins get the Classic chain, with the same quest givers and the same steps. It starts with your Paladin trainer at level 20 and ends in Dun Morogh, where Jordan Stilwell forges Verigan's Fist for you.
The Tome of Valor sends you to Duthorian Rall in the Cathedral of Light in Stormwind City (39.9, 30.5). He gives you The Tome of Valor, which leads to Daphne Stilwell in a small house at the end of Westfall's Longshore (42.2, 88.4).
In The Tome of Valor the Defias attack the house in waves. Daphne fights with her gun, and the quest fails if either of you dies, so stay close to her and heal her when the waves arrive. Speak with her afterwards and bring the news back to Duthorian (The Tome of Valor). He teaches you Sense Undead and gives you Bastion of Stormwind, a shield.
The Test of Righteousness takes you to Jordan Stilwell, who works outside the gates of Ironforge in Dun Morogh (52.5, 36.8). In The Test of Righteousness he gives you Jordan's Weapon Notes and asks for four items:
Shadowfang Keep is the step that holds most Alliance Paladins back. Silverpine is deep in Horde territory, so plan the trip with a full group, or run Blackfathom Deeps and The Deadmines first and leave the hammer for last. Hand everything to Jordan, and in The Test of Righteousness he forges Verigan's Fist at his anvil.
The two rewards are built as mirror images. Both are item level 31, bind when picked up and deal almost exactly the same damage per second. Their procs deal the same 39 to 59 damage and triple it against different targets. The difference is in speed, top-end damage and stats:
| Stat | Wolfsbane | Verigan's Fist |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Two-hand sword | Two-hand mace |
| Damage and speed | 69-105, speed 3.40 (25.6 DPS) | 65-99, speed 3.20 (25.6 DPS) |
| Stats | +9 Stamina, +10 Intellect | +5 Stamina, +6 Intellect, +10 Spirit |
| Proc | Blazewind Blast: 39-59 Holystorm damage, triple against wolves and worgen | Holy Forgefire: 39-59 Holyfire damage, triple against fire and earth elementals |
| Faction | Horde (Undead) | Alliance (Human, Dwarf) |
Wolfsbane comes out slightly ahead for Retribution. It is the slower weapon with the higher top-end damage, which makes Seal of Command and Holy Strike hit harder, and its Stamina and Intellect are worth more to a leveling Paladin than Spirit. Its triple damage also fits the levels you get it at: wolves and worgen fill Silverpine Forest, Duskwood and Hillsbrad Foothills. Verigan's Fist puts most of its stats into Spirit, which helps mana between pulls, and its proc shines against elementals.
The Alliance mace got its proc in a beta update in early October, soon after the new Horde sword arrived with one. Without it, Verigan's Fist would have been clearly weaker. For talents that make the most of a slow two-hander, see our WoW Forever Paladin leveling guide.
If you would rather skip the grind to level 20 and go straight for your weapon, our WoW Forever leveling service gets your Paladin there.
These are the questions players ask most often about the Paladin weapon quests.
No. Verigan's Fist is the reward of the Alliance chain for Human and Dwarf Paladins. Undead Paladins get Wolfsbane from their own chain in Silverpine Forest.
The first quests open at level 18, and A Moon-Kissed Blade and everything after it need level 20. Old Fire-Eye is a level 25 elite, so many players finish the chain at 22 to 24.
No. The naga that drop the Corrupted Kor Gem stand outside, around the dungeon entrance in Ashenvale. You only need the quest from Ulric Frostveil (Horde) or Tandaan Lightmane (Alliance) before you kill them.
His aura of unnatural resilience protects him until the Moonsilver Blade burns it away. Equip the blade from The Moonsilver Blade and keep hitting him until the message appears, then use Holy attacks while his debuff is up.
Yes, for most of it. The dungeons need a group anyway, Lumina Windsinger, Seeking the Kor Gem and Bailor's Ore Shipment can be shared, and every party member with Old Fire-Eye gets credit for Old Fire-Eye. The materials are quest items, so each Paladin has to loot their own.
No. Some early write-ups list +10 Strength, but the item has +9 Stamina and +10 Intellect, the same as in the beta tooltip.
