The Cozy Sleeping Bag quest chain opens at level 14 and sends you across both continents: Westfall and The Barrens for the opening note, Stonetalon Mountains for two hidden objects, the dam in Loch Modan, and finally Thoradin's Wall in Hillsbrad Foothills. There are no NPCs to talk to: every step is a small clickable object in the world. Alliance and Horde visit the same two opening locations in reverse order, and once both factions pick up Stepping Stones, the rest of the route is shared.
The payoff is more than the bag itself. Along the way you also pick up two 12-slot bags, a profession tool, five Student Fodder and a solid chunk of quest experience. Below you will find the exact starting order for both factions, every /way coordinate, each clickable object, the optional campfire quest, the bugs reported on the beta, and the final steps to claim the bag.
The Cozy Sleeping Bag is a reusable item from Season of Discovery that came back in WoW Forever. Unfurl it and lie inside for at least one minute to gain a 1% experience bonus. Every extra minute adds another stack, up to three stacks for a maximum 3% bonus experience, and the buff lasts for one hour. Your character also becomes rested while lying inside the bag, and players on the beta report that the buff persists through death.
3% sounds small on its own, but it stacks with other experience buffs, including the ones from camping. To see every campfire buff and camp object, read our WoW Forever camping guide.
The table below sums up the requirement and the effect of the bag.
| Requirement / Effect | Details |
|---|---|
| Minimum Level | 14 |
| Experience Bonus | 1% per minute of rest, stacking up to 3% |
| Buff Duration | 1 hour |
| Sleeping Bag Cooldown | 1 hour |
| Other Chain Rewards | Sturdy Lunchbox, Old Toolbox, Mining Pick or Farmer's Shovel, Student Fodder x5 |
This route crosses both continents. Missing a small clickable object can mean a long trip back, so check the coordinates before leaving each zone.
Alliance and Horde visit the same two opening locations, just in reverse order. At the first location, the Burned-Out Remains start ... and that note you found. At the second, the note is nailed to a plank next to another pile of remains: click the Nailed Plank to turn the quest in and pick up Stepping Stones. The two factions get separate versions of the first quest with the same name, so take the one your client offers.
Alliance players begin in Westfall, then travel to The Barrens for the second step.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Go to Westfall and head to Alexston Farmstead at /way 37, 50. |
| Investigate | Find the wreckage of a cart and click the Burned-Out Remains in the rubble. |
| Quest | Accept ... and that note you found. |
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Go to The Barrens and follow the road south of Camp Taurajo to /way 46, 74. |
| Investigate | Find the burnt tower and click the Nailed Plank next to the remains in the rubble. |
| Quest | Turn in ... and that note you found and accept Stepping Stones. |
Horde players begin in The Barrens, then travel to Westfall for the second step.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Go to The Barrens and follow the road south of Camp Taurajo to /way 46, 74. |
| Investigate | Find the burnt tower and click the Burned-Out Remains in the rubble. |
| Quest | Accept ... and that note you found. |
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Go to Westfall and head to Alexston Farmstead at /way 37, 50. |
| Investigate | Find the wreckage of a cart and click the Nailed Plank next to the remains in the rubble. |
| Quest | Turn in ... and that note you found and accept Stepping Stones. |
From here on, Alliance and Horde follow exactly the same route. The first quest alone rewards 1,750 experience, a Swiftness Potion and a Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir.
Head to Stonetalon Mountains and look for the path northeast of Sun Rock Retreat at /way 50.9, 52.3. Follow it deeper into the mountains until you reach the abandoned camp at /way 40.6, 52.4. The steps are below.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Enter the mountain path northeast of Sun Rock Retreat at /way 50.9, 52.3. |
| Camp | Follow the trail to the abandoned camp at /way 40.6, 52.4. |
| Quest | Click the Pocket Litter lying on top of a box to complete Stepping Stones and accept Scramble. |
Stepping Stones is the most valuable step before the final reward. Per beta data, it gives you a choice of a Mining Pick or a Farmer's Shovel and also hands out two 12-slot bags, the Sturdy Lunchbox and the Old Toolbox. At level 14 that is a clear upgrade over a Linen Bag. You also receive Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder for the optional campfire quest.
The firepit in the middle of the abandoned camp offers the optional Rekindle quest. Click the firepit and use the Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder from Stepping Stones to light it. The quest gives the Flint and Tinder back and does not block the Cozy Sleeping Bag chain, so you can skip it.
If the firepit shows a blue question mark but cannot be clicked, someone else has lit it already. Wait until the fire goes out, then click the question mark.
The second Stonetalon object sits on a ledge just north of the camp. Getting to it takes one careful jump.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Climb | From the abandoned camp, head straight north and climb the hill. |
| Jump | From the edge, locate the Mound of Dirt at /way 39.6, 49.8 and jump across to the ledge. |
| Quest | Click the Mound of Dirt to complete Scramble and accept Wet Job. |
The Stonetalon jump is easy to overshoot. Find the Mound of Dirt first, line up the ledge, and only then make the jump.
Scramble is also the first quest that pays out Student Fodder; the rest comes with the final quest.
Travel to the Loch Modan Dam at /way 49.4, 12.9 in Loch Modan. The quest object is built into the dam on the side facing the Wetlands, so it is easy to miss if you stay on the road.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Reach the Loch Modan Dam at /way 49.4, 12.9. |
| Figurine | Jump onto the carved heads facing the Wetlands to reach the eagle-shaped Carved Figurine. |
| Quest | Click the Carved Figurine to complete Wet Job and accept Eagle's Fist. |
Horde characters should be more careful here because this part of the chain runs through Alliance territory.
The last section of the route takes place at Thoradin's Wall, right on the border between Hillsbrad Foothills and the Arathi Highlands. The steps are below.
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Travel | Head to Thoradin's Wall and approach from the Hillsbrad Foothills side. Facing the gate toward the Arathi Highlands, turn left and follow the wall. |
| Climb | Find the fallen cart at /way 87.3, 49.6 and use it to climb into the wall. |
| Route | Go through the room inside the wall, under the cargo netting, and look outside to the right. |
| Bag | Find and click the hanging Messenger Bag. |
| Quest | Complete Eagle's Fist and accept This Must Be The Place. |
On the beta, male Night Elves cannot pass under the cargo netting inside the wall, even in Cat Form, Bear Form or as a Wisp. Other races go through without trouble.
After accepting This Must Be The Place from the Messenger Bag, look directly underneath it for the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel. Click the satchel to finish the last quest, and the Cozy Sleeping Bag is yours along with 1,950 experience and the rest of your Student Fodder.
The main chain has six quests. The first one has an Alliance and a Horde version with the same name; everything after it is shared.
| # | Quest | Zone | Objective |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ... and that note you found (Alliance) / ... and that note you found (Horde) | Westfall + The Barrens | Burned-Out Remains, then Nailed Plank in the other zone |
| 2 | Stepping Stones | Stonetalon Mountains | Pocket Litter at the abandoned camp |
| 3 | Scramble | Stonetalon Mountains | Mound of Dirt at /way 39.6, 49.8 |
| 4 | Wet Job | Loch Modan | Carved Figurine at the dam |
| 5 | Eagle's Fist | Hillsbrad Foothills | Messenger Bag at Thoradin's Wall |
| 6 | This Must Be The Place | Hillsbrad Foothills | Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel; Cozy Sleeping Bag reward |
Optional quest: Rekindle at the abandoned Stonetalon camp. It sits outside the six-quest main chain and can be skipped.
The sleeping bag is the headline reward, but the bags from Stepping Stones are just as useful at this level. Student Fodder gave rested experience in Season of Discovery; in WoW Forever it only restores health, with a 5-minute cooldown. Here is everything the chain gives you.
| Reward | Quest | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Cozy Sleeping Bag | This Must Be The Place | Rest inside for 1 minute per stack; up to 3% bonus experience for 1 hour. |
| Sturdy Lunchbox and Old Toolbox | Stepping Stones | 12-slot bags. |
| Mining Pick or Farmer's Shovel | Stepping Stones | Choice reward. |
| Student Fodder x5 | Scramble and This Must Be The Place | Restores health in WoW Forever. |
| Swiftness Potion and Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir | ... and that note you found | Consumables. |
A few things that save time and trouble on this route.
If you are leveling several characters, every one of them can run this chain. We show how to fit it into a whole roster in our WoW Forever alt leveling guide.
The questions below cover the most common Cozy Sleeping Bag searches: minimum level, Alliance and Horde starting locations, the optional Rekindle quest, experience bonus, coordinates, and the final reward.
You need to be level 14 or higher.
Only the first quest differs. Alliance starts in Westfall and then goes to The Barrens; Horde starts in The Barrens and then goes to Westfall. Both factions continue together from Stepping Stones onward.
Alliance starts at Alexston Farmstead in Westfall at /way 37, 50, where you click the Burned-Out Remains.
Horde starts south of Camp Taurajo in The Barrens at /way 46, 74, where you click the Burned-Out Remains.
No. Rekindle is optional and is not required to continue the main quest chain. If the firepit cannot be clicked, wait until the fire goes out.
Each minute of rest in the sleeping bag grants 1% bonus experience, stacking up to 3%. The buff lasts for one hour.
Stepping Stones rewards the Sturdy Lunchbox and the Old Toolbox, both 12-slot bags.
It is on a ledge at /way 39.6, 49.8, north of the abandoned camp.
Go to the Loch Modan Dam at /way 49.4, 12.9 and use the carved heads facing the Wetlands to reach the Carved Figurine.
It is at Thoradin's Wall on the Hillsbrad Foothills side. Use the cart at /way 87.3, 49.6 to climb into the wall, click the Messenger Bag, then click the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel below it.
The sleeping bag is one of several hidden rewards and leveling helpers in WoW Forever. These guides go with it.
