Boss Lair Keys are the access items required to open a Lair Boss's Hoard chest after the kill. Each boss tier uses a different key — without the right one, the boss dies but the Hoard stays locked and the loot is inaccessible. The key is consumed on use, meaning one key per kill per Hoard opening. Every key type is tradeable through standard face-to-face player trade.
Each boss tier requires a specific key. Initiate bosses — Varshan, Grigoire, Beast in the Ice, Lord Zir, and Urivar — use the Initiate Lair Key. Greater bosses — Duriel, Andariel, Harbinger of Hatred, and The Butcher — use the Greater Lair Key. Corrupted Reaper and Echo of Mephisto are Exalted tier — Corrupted Reaper uses the Superior Lair Key, Mephisto requires the Crux of the False Prophet. Superior Lair Key is the access item for the Corrupted Reaper — the new Exalted tier Lair Boss introduced in Season 14. It drops from Deathtoll Chamber runs, a mini-dungeon unlocked through Pandemonium Rupture gameplay. To access Deathtoll Chamber, you need to complete Pandemonium Ruptures in Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix, or defeat a Realmwalker. Drop rates are significantly lower than Initiate or Greater keys — making Superior Lair Keys one of the harder key types to stock up on consistently in the current season.
Delivery completes within 15 minutes of order confirmation. Supplier is assigned immediately, in-game friend request follows, and the face-to-face trade happens in any capital city.
