There are a total of 14 ranks for both factions. Each rank requires a minimum amount of Rating Points to be calculated every week, then calculated compared to other players on your server. With Season of Discovery, you will no longer experience honor decay due to not meeting your rank's minimum honor requirements. Decay is not the same as the penalties incurred by earning dishonorable kills, which is now the only way to lose rank progress.
In SoD Phase 8, you can only get PvP Rank 14 at level 60. Nonetheless, it will take a lot of your time to get even to Phase 8 max PvP Rank, grinding various PvP activities, and opposing skilled players with more PvP experience.
