Patch 12.1 introduces a hefty roster of new mounts tied to nearly every corner of the game — Delves, Mythic+, raid, PvP, open-world content, and faction reputation. Some are straightforward purchases or drops, while others demand serious dedication over weeks or even months. Below, we've broken down every new mount in Midnight Season 2, organized by source, so you can plan your grind accordingly.
The new patch has introduced 21 new mounts to the game — some of them can only be obtained during Midnight Season 2, while many others will remain in the game permanently. As usual, they can be earned from a variety of sources: from open-world activities to PvP, dungeons, and raids. In the article below, we'll break down each new mount based on its acquisition source.
This one requires you to defeat Azta'rec, the Season 2 Nemesis boss, solo on ?? difficulty. If you're comfortable with Delve mechanics and have a solid build, it's an achievable challenge — but expect a real fight. For a full breakdown of Azta'rec's abilities and recommended strategies, check out our dedicated Apophic Soul Crusher guide.
This is essentially the participation trophy version of the Apophic Soul Crusher. Once you hit Rank 5 in your Delver's Journey, swing by Telemancer Astrandis and grab it for a handful of Voidlight Marl. If you're still working on your Delver's Journey and want to know the fastest way to Rank 5, our Corroded Soul Crusher guide covers everything.
Requires a Mythic+ rating of 2000. Standard Keystone Master fare — push keys, time them, and you'll get there. For tips on which dungeons are the most forgiving this season and how to hit 2000 rating without burning out, see our Breath of Blight guide.
Requires a Mythic+ rating of 3000. This is the deep end. Expect to run high keys with a coordinated group if you want this one. Our Breath of Ruin guide includes dungeon-specific strategies and comp recommendations to make the climb smoother.
Drops from Ral'kala during the Prey hunt A Ghostly Nightmare. No currency, no vendor — just kill the boss and pray.
A straightforward vendor purchase once you've progressed far enough in the Prey Journey track. The cost is steep, so start saving early if you plan to pick this up.
Win 50 3v3 games while at Elite rank. This is the seasonal Gladiator mount, and it's not handed out lightly. If you're chasing this, you already know what you're signing up for. For the current meta comps and gearing advice to reach Elite, check our Venomous Gladiator's Goredrake guide.
Two variants exist — one for Horde, one for Alliance. Both require winning Rated PvP matches at 1000+ rating on the respective faction. You'll only unlock the version tied to your character's faction, so plan accordingly if you want both. Our Vicious Lightbloom Boar guide explains the fastest way to complete the achievement on both factions without losing your sanity.
Complete the full achievement set inside The Venomous Abyss. As with all Glory meta-achievements, this requires coordination, patience, and a group willing to wipe for the sake of a mount.
Drops from Ula'tek on Mythic difficulty. No achievement, no vendor — just kill the final boss on the hardest setting and hope.
Drops from Zul'jan in Altar of Fangs. Since this is a regular dungeon boss, you can farm it as many times as your patience allows. Our Writhing Brood guide details the fastest route to the boss and what you can skip along the way.
A faction mount locked behind a high Renown rank. The vendor's location is in the Amani Foothold, so you'll pass by regularly while doing Vaults content. If you're looking for the most efficient way to push Zul'jarra's Forces Renown, our Indigo Coiled Horror guide covers the best weekly activities to prioritize.
Same vendor, higher rank, higher price. If you're already grinding Zul'jarra's Forces for other rewards, this one will come naturally. Our Violet-Backed Skyfang guide includes a full Renown breakdown and tips for optimizing your rep gains.
This one's tied to a time-gated questline that starts with Ancestral Gems and ends with The Innocent Essence. Expect to log in over multiple days to finish the chain — it's six quests total, so don't plan on knocking it out in one sitting. Our Spirit of Tok'jara guide walks you through every step of the questline, including all the materials you'll need.
A reward for reaching Bloodsworn status with Captain Tokka. If you're already fishing for the Coiled Huntress pole or working on Cursed Fishing, this mount is a natural pickup along the way. For a complete breakdown of the Captain Tokka friendship track and the fastest way to Bloodsworn, see our Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent guide.
Discover all hidden treasures across the Coiled Isle. This is the treasure hunt achievement mount for the zone — check our dedicated guide for every location. If you'd rather not stumble around blind, our Auriferous Venomfang guide has coordinates for all seven treasures and step-by-step instructions for the tricky ones.
Rare drop from any rare enemy on the Coiled Isle. No specific boss — just kill rares whenever you see them and hope for luck. Our Ruby Writhe guide includes a full route for farming Coiled Isle rares efficiently, including spawn timers and pathing.
Same deal as the Ruby Writhe. Another rare drop from Coiled Isle rares. If you're farming for one, you might as well kill everything and see which one drops first. Check our Topaz Skyfang guide for the best farming route and tips to maximize your kills per hour.
The Skull of Er'inye sits right next to the Altar of Corrosion in the Vaults. 10000 coins is a serious chunk of change, but if you're deep into the Corrosive Coin economy, this is one of the few direct purchases available.
Complete 250 Temple Patrols in the Vaults of Atal'Utek. This is a pure grind achievement — at least three patrols are active every ten minutes, so it's just a matter of time. The mount is solid, but don't expect to finish this in a weekend.
Complete the full achievement set in the Vaults of Atal'Utek. This meta-achievement covers everything from patrols and strikes to lore objects and hidden interactions.
Midnight Season 2 spreads its mounts across every playstyle. If you're a raider, you've got Ula'tek on Mythic. If you PvP, the Gladiator mount is waiting. If you prefer solo content, the Delves and open-world achievements have you covered. The nice part is that most of these overlap with other progression systems — Renown, Delver's Journey, Prey Journey — so you're rarely grinding just for the mount. Pick your targets, plan your weekly routine, and the collection will fill itself out over time.
Good luck out there, and don't forget to check back for more Midnight guides as the season unfolds.
