Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent Mount Guide

Updated 17 Aug 2026 | Author: Invord | ~7 min

The Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent is a mesmerizing oozing serpent whose translucent, venomous form and sinuous movements make it one of the most unique mounts on the Coiled Isle. Its eerie, glistening appearance and the gentle hum of its venomous scales make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with an unconventional, primal aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its temperamental nature: "This oozing serpent has a taste for fish. As long as you can feed them, they should remain friendly. Should." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a reputation grind, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to Captain Tokka and his crew.

Introduced in patch 12.1.0 as part of the Midnight Season 2 update, the Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent offers one of the most unique acquisition paths among the zone's mounts. This oozing serpent isn't obtained through combat or rare drops — instead, it's the reward for building a reputation with a pirate captain, mastering the art of venom fishing, and learning to extract a rare currency from the waters of the Coiled Isle. The journey blends traditional reputation grinding with fishing mechanics and resource management, creating a refreshingly different experience for collectors. For players who appreciate mounts that require a mix of activities rather than a single-minded grind, the Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent stands out as one of the most distinctive rewards of Midnight Season 2.

  • Added in patch: 12.1.0 "Curse of Ula'tek"
  • Mount type: Flying
  • Source: Vendor purchase
  • Requirements: Bloodsworn Crew with Captain Tokka
  • Time to complete: 1-2 weeks of daily quests + fishing

How to Get Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent

Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent

The Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent is purchased from Second Mate Sluggs for 2,500 Coiled Filament, but only after reaching the Bloodsworn Crew reputation level with Captain Tokka. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply reach the required reputation, gather enough Coiled Filament, and buy the mount.

The journey consists of several phases:

  • Phase 1: Unlock The Coiled Isle.
  • Phase 2: Complete the quest chain to unlock Captain Tokka's reputation.
  • Phase 3: Reach Bloodsworn Crew (8,400 reputation).
  • Phase 4: Purchase The Coiled Huntress fishing rod for 6,000 Voidlight Marl.
  • Phase 5: Fish for Coiled Filament (2,500 required).
  • Phase 6: Purchase the mount.

Unlocking Access to the Island

To begin your journey, you must first gain access to The Coiled Isle. The island becomes available during the main campaign questline The Curse of Ula'tek in Patch 12.1.0 during Chapter 2. The quest What Lies Beyond the Fog sends you to the island.

Once you've completed the introductory questline, you are able to fly over to the island on every character that is part of your Warband. If you haven't completed the campaign on your main character, you will need to do so before you can access the island on your alts.

Building Reputation

Once you have completed Chapter 2 of the campaign and are on The Coiled Isle, you can find Captain Tokka inside the main encampment, at Tokka's Landing.

Captain Tokka

He will give you the Venom Fishing: Proof is in the Ooze quest. If you complete this quest and the following quest chain up until Venom Fishing: My Second-Best, it will unlock daily quests so that you can start earning daily reputation.

You will need to reach the maximum reputation of Bloodsworn Crew to purchase The Coiled Huntress fishing rod, which is needed to farm the Coiled Filament currency. Reaching the Bloodsworn Crew reputation level with Captain Tokka requires you to earn 8,400 reputation.

Daily Quests

You can earn reputation by doing the Daily Quests from Second Mate Sluggs or Brinedrinker Gills, both of which can be found on Tokka's Folly.

World Quest

Completing the Open Sea Fishing World Quest will reward 500 reputation. It can usually be found in the North East of the zone, which seems to appear weekly.

Fishing for Reputation

The final way to farm Captain Tokka reputation is by fishing. When you fish on The Coiled Isle you will occasionally loot quest items, which you can hand in for 150 reputation each. There are a total of 10 of these items, and if you find all of them you will receive the Treasures of the Damned achievement.

Note: You can only receive these reputation rewards once per Warband.

Acquiring The Coiled Huntress Fishing Rod

Once you have reached the Bloodsworn Crew reputation level with Captain Tokka, you can purchase The Coiled Huntress fishing rod from Second Mate Sluggs, who can be found at Tokka's Folly near the center of the Coiled Isle.

  • /way #2512 51.62 49.84 – Second Mate Sluggs

It costs 6,000 Voidlight Marl. By the time you reach Bloodsworn Crew, you will likely have accumulated enough Voidlight Marl from natural gameplay. However, if you find yourself short, here are the most efficient sources:

  • Prey – hunting rare creatures
  • Daily Rares – defeating rare spawns on the island
  • World Quests – completing rotating quests
  • Bountiful Delves – running Delves with keys
  • Weekly Quest Rewards – Pinnacle Cache rewards
  • Capping Weekly Crests – from various endgame activities

Farming Coiled Filament

Once you have obtained The Coiled Huntress fishing rod, make sure you have it equipped. When The Coiled Huntress is equipped, every time you fish successfully on The Coiled Isle you will add 1 stack to the venom counter, which you can only see on the tooltip for your Coiled Huntress. To find that tooltip, you need to hover over the Profession equipment in the top right of the Fishing Profession Journal interface.

Note: Catching grey items doesn't count as a successful fishing attempt.

We recommend just farming in the venom that is around the Coiled Isle, as hunting for pools will be much slower at gaining stacks of venom.

You will then need to siphon any venom that you have accumulated from your Coiled Huntress fishing rod by visiting Seasage Polo, who can be found on Tokka's Folly on The Coiled Isles.

  • /way #2512 51.55 49.92 – Seasage Polo

Talking to Seasage Polo will give you the option to commune with the statue, which will turn any stored venom into Coiled Filament at a 1 to 1 ratio.

Purchasing the Mount

Once you have collected 2,500 Coiled Filament, you can then purchase the Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent mount from Second Mate Sluggs. Second Mate Sluggs can also be found in Tokka's Folly on The Coiled Isles.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Complete the quest chain fully: Make sure you complete all quests up to Venom Fishing: My Second-Best to unlock daily reputation sources.
  • Don't skip the fishing reputation items: The 10 fishing quest items are a one-time source of 1,500 reputation (150 each). Make sure you fish them up before the grind becomes tedious.
  • Farm venom, not pools: Fishing in open venom water is much faster than hunting for pools when building your venom counter. Pools are slower and less efficient.
  • Voidlight Marl isn't a concern: By the time you reach Bloodsworn Crew, you'll have accumulated enough Voidlight Marl from natural gameplay. Don't stress about farming it separately.
  • Use the Fishing Profession Journal: To see your venom counter, hover over the Profession equipment slot in the top right of the Fishing Profession Journal interface.

Useful Addons for Fishing and Reputation Farming

Farming reputation with Captain Tokka and fishing for Coiled Filament requires patience and efficiency. The right addons can help you track your progress, locate fishing spots, and never miss a daily quest.

  • FishingBuddy or BetterFishing: Enhances the fishing interface with additional features. Some addons can auto-click on the bobber, making the fishing grind much less tedious.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to Captain Tokka, Second Mate Sluggs, Seasage Polo, and other key locations.
  • World Quest Tracker: Shows all available world quests on a single panel, helping you quickly see if the weekly Open Sea Fishing quest is up.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed daily quests and the weekly world quest. Useful if you're farming reputation on multiple alts.
  • HandyNotes – The Coiled Isle (plugin): Displays points of interest on your map, including fishing spots and NPC locations.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up over a long grind.

Pro tip: Use a fishing addon like FishingBuddy to make the Coiled Filament farm more bearable. It can help you stay focused and track your progress more effectively.
