The Mechacycle Model W is the ultimate symbol of mechanical mastery in World of Warcraft. This sleek, jet-black motorcycle isn't just a mount—it's the prestigious reward for completing the monumental Mecha-Done meta-achievement, a testament to your dedication across every corner of the junkyard paradise known as Mechagon.
Earning this mount represents one of Battle for Azeroth's most comprehensive collection challenges, requiring you to become a true citizen of Rustbolt by mastering tinkering, hunting rare schematics, collecting music, and contributing to the island's endless construction. It's a journey that transforms you from a visitor to a legendary Junkyard Architect.
The path to the Mechacycle Model W is paved with gears, blueprints, and sheer persistence. You must complete the Mecha-Done achievement, which consists of ten smaller achievements covering every aspect of life on Mechagon Island—from the main story and daily visitors to rare hunting, tinkering, and even building a music collection. While daunting, systematic progress makes this legendary mount attainable.
Your journey begins by gaining access to Mechagon. If you've never experienced Battle for Azeroth content, start at your faction's command board:
Alliance: Go to the Hero's Call Board in Stormwind's Trade District at /way #84 63.0, 71.6. Speak to the Hero's Herald and accept Battle for Azeroth: Tides of War.
Horde: Head to the Warchief's Command Board in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength at /way #85 49.7, 76.7. Speak to the Warchief's Herald and accept Battle for Azeroth: Mission Statement.
Complete the introductory questline until you reach your faction's capital (Boralus or Dazar'alor) and finish the initial foothold, earning either Come Sail Away (Alliance) or Welcome to Zandalar (Horde).
Then, find the Mechagon questgiver:
Accept and complete The Legend of Mechagon to unlock the island and the Rustbolt Resistance faction.
Below is your complete checklist. Tackle these achievements in any order, but some naturally complement each other. We recommend starting with the main story and then working on dailies, rares, and blueprints concurrently.
Achievement: The Mechagonian Threat
This is your starting point. Simply complete the main campaign questline on Mechagon, which begins with "The Legend of Mechagon." The chain has under 20 quests and serves as a fantastic introduction to the island's story and characters.
Pro Tip: The final quest traditionally required completing the Operation: Mechagon dungeon. You can now skip this requirement by speaking to Prince Erazmin after accepting the quest and selecting the skip dialogue option.
Achievement: Outside Influences
Greatly Simplified in The War Within! This achievement now requires completing only 15 daily quests from Mechagon's rotating visitors, down from all 32. Three random visitors appear daily. Check the front page of Wowhead's BFA section to see who's up without traveling.
The most complex visitor is Elise Starseeker. Her quest Clues Abound leads to a chain of seven quests that count toward this achievement. You'll need Elise to visit three times to complete them all. Follow the clues in the Outflow area:
Achievement: Junkyard Apprentice
Craft 250 items via Junkyard Tinkering at Pascal-K1N6 (unlocked via the main story). Note: Consumable crates like the S.P.A.R.E. Crate do NOT count. This achievement will progress naturally as you craft items for other achievements (like the Scrapforged Mechaspider mount) and daily tasks. Don't focus on it exclusively early on.
Achievement: Available in Eight Colors
Despite the name, you need to collect seven paint schematics for your X-995 Mechanocat mount. The eighth color, Battletorn Blue is the achievement reward itself. The paints are acquired from various sources: vendors, rare drops, and quests. Start this early by purchasing the available paints from Cork Stuttguard and keeping an eye out for others as you complete other activities.
Achievement: Junkyard Architect
Account-wide and Reduced in The War Within! This is one of the most time-consuming parts but is now more manageable. You need to collect and turn in 30 out of 37 possible blueprints to Pascal-K1N6. Progress is shared across all your characters. Start this immediately after unlocking Pascal. Use the complete table below to target your farming.

Achievement: Making the Mount
This is a rewarding side quest. Complete the twelve-step quest chain to build your own Scrapforged Mechaspider mount. The chain begins with Shop Project from Recycler Kerchunk in Rustbolt. Fortunately, with the removal of daily locks, you can complete the entire chain in one dedicated session.
Achievement: Rest in Pistons
Defeat all 36 special rare encounters across Mechagon. Most are straightforward spawns, but some have specific conditions (like requiring a Drill Rig project). An addon like RareScanner or SilverDragon is essential for this hunt.
Complete TomTom Coordinates for All Single-Spawn Rares: (Use the Paste addon to import all at once)
Achievement: Junkyard Machinist
Contribute to 100 construction projects. You must be nearby when the project completes. Check with Waren Gearhart in Rustbolt (73.1, 33.3) daily to see which projects are active.
Optimal Farm: The Broken Flame Turret projects are the cheapest at 100 Spare Parts each. Only one turret per cluster is active at a time. Farm Spare Parts from mobs, then repair turrets at these locations:
Achievement: Junkyard Melomaniac
Collect all six vinyl records for the Rustbolt Gramophone. First, unlock the gramophone by killing Steel Singer Freza (~15% drop for the blueprint). Craft it at Pascal, then install it in The Tipsy Tinkerer. After installation, hunt for the remaining vinyls.
| Vinyl Record | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ode to Tinkertown | Installing the Gramophone | Automatically received when you install the Rustbolt Gramophone. |
| Mimiron's Brainstorm | Strange Recycling Requisition / Recycling Requisition or Steel Singer Freza (rare) |
Boxes are obtained from the Reclamation Rig event or the Even More Recycling repeatable quest. |
| Depths of Ulduar | Rares: Steel Singer Freza, Ol' Big Tusk, Boilburn, Gemicide, Earthbreaker Gulroc, The Kleptoboss | Besides Freza, these rares all require the drill rig construction project to be active, as you use a drill rig to get into their respective caves. Drill rig spawns also appear to spawn in a random order. |
| Gnomeregan Forever | Mechagonian Nullifier or Boggac Skullbash (rares) | Boggac Skullbash is spawned by killing A LOT of troggs in the Scrapbone Den. Summoning Mechagonian Nullifier requires the trinket Pocket-Sized Computation Device with the Remote Circuit Bypasser in the blue punchcard slot. You will then be able to see Hackable Nullifier Relay when it is equipped. |
| Battle of Gnomeregan | Data Anomaly event or Steel Singer Freza (rare) | Requires daily quest Discs of Norgannon to be active to loot required items (Cracked Numeric Cylinder, Large Storage Fragment, Rust Covered Disc & Scorched Data Disc) to summon Data Anomaly bosses. Make sure to abandon the associated quest(s) after killing an Anomaly so you can keep the item(s) and use them repeatedly daily |
| Triumph of Gnomeregan | Steel Singer Freza (rare) or Guaranteed drop from Irradiated Box of Assorted Parts |
Irradiated Box of Assorted Parts comes from the “hardmode” version of the Reclamation Rig event. To activate hardmode, you have to use the Supercollider on all 20 of the Irradiated Elemental mobs that spawn from the event. The Supercollider requires 4 completions of Toys For Destruction daily quest and can be picked up from the associated workbench or Rustbolt Armories. |
Achievement: Armed for Action
Complete the daily quest Toys For Destruction five times. This quest is given randomly by Rocket-Chief Fuselage in Rustbolt's west crafting area.
How to Complete: After accepting the quest, click Fuselage to start. Four ingredient piles are behind him. NPCs will call out an order. Click the ingredients in the exact sequence called (enable speech bubbles or watch chat). If you fail, speak to Fuselage to restart.
