Venomous Coiler Mount Guide

Updated 31 Aug 2026 | Author: Invord | ~10 min

The Venomous Coiler is a terrifying, multi-headed serpent whose venomous presence and writhing form embody the deadly essence of the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Its sickly green scales, multiple heads, and the toxic miasma that surrounds it make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a dark, monstrous aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its lethal nature: "A native of the deadly venom pits within the Vaults of Atal'Utek, this monstrosity poisons the air it slithers past." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of completing a challenging meta-achievement, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your mastery over the Vaults' most demanding content.

Introduced in patch 12.1.0 as part of the Midnight Season 2 update, the Venomous Coiler is the ultimate reward for completing the Assault the Vault meta-achievement. This isn't a mount you can simply farm or buy — it's a badge of honour earned by completing 10 distinct achievements tied to the Vaults of Atal'Utek's repeatable content. The journey requires you to engage with every aspect of the Vaults: patrols, strikes, incursions, Ancient Foes, and even mastering the Altar of Corrosion system. For players who enjoy a varied and comprehensive challenge, the Venomous Coiler represents one of the most prestigious rewards of Midnight Season 2.

  • Added in patch: 12.1.0 "Curse of Ula'tek"
  • Mount type: Ground
  • Source: Meta-achievement reward
  • Time to complete: 2-4 weeks (depending on activity rotation)

How to Get Venomous Coiler

Venomous Coiler

The Venomous Coiler is awarded upon completing the Assault the Vault meta-achievement, which requires you to complete 10 sub-achievements related to content within the Vaults of Atal'Utek. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply complete all 10 achievements, and the mount is yours. Many of these achievements can be completed passively through regular gameplay in the Vaults. We recommend checking your current achievement status in your Achievements tab to track your progress.

This meta-achievement consists of 10 sub-achievements:

Below we will cover how to complete all of these achievements and earn the mount.

Unlocking Access to the Vaults of Atal'Utek

Before you can begin working on these achievements, you must first gain access to The Coiled Isle. The island becomes available during the main campaign questline The Curse of Ula'tek in Patch 12.1.0 during Chapter 2. The quest What Lies Beyond the Fog sends you to the island.

Once you've completed the introductory questline, you are able to fly over to the island on every character that is part of your Warband. If you haven't completed the campaign on your main character, you will need to do so before you can access the island on your alts.

As you progress through the main campaign, you will automatically unlock access to the Vaults of Atal'Utek, the subterranean heart of the island's repeatable content. The Vaults house Temple Patrols, Strikes, Incursions, and the Altar of Corrosion. No additional quests are required — simply follow the campaign until the Vaults become available, and you'll have full access to all activities needed to progress the achievement.

Roll the Patrol

To complete Roll the Patrol, you'll need to complete the following patrols within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

  • Congealed Venom
  • Vengeance for the Dead
  • Calming the Dead
  • Slay the Restless
  • Siphon Venom
  • Breath and Bile
  • Dragged Below
  • Ash to Ash
  • Laid to Rest

Temple Patrols are marked on the map with a circular star icon. Each location will have a Temple Patrol NPC to chat with, and doing so will give you a bonus objective to complete in the area. Temple Patrols rotate every 10 minutes.

Submerge the Incursion

To complete Submerge the Incursion, you'll need to complete the following incursions within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

  • Cache of the Three
  • Summoning Ritual
  • Supplies Must Flow

Temple Incursions are world events that temporarily replace Temple Strikes and appear on the map as a snake icon. Incursions only last for 10 minutes, so a group is highly recommended.

Submerge the Incursion

There will be a message at the top of your screen when a new Temple Incursion becomes available, and in order to start it you must complete the current active Temple Strike. Successfully completing each of the 3 different Temple Incursion events will award the achievement.

A Lone Wanderer

To complete the A Lone Wanderer achievement, you'll need to collect the large wandering Soul Globes during the Earth and Sky event within the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

During the Temple Strike: Purifying Earth and Sky, you'll use the Shrine of Sky to transform into a Spiritwing and collect the floating orbs. Large blue orbs called Wandering Soul Globes will also be drifting through the area. Simply fly into one to gain the achievement.

Ritual Behaviour

To complete Ritual Behavior, you'll need to deliver one of each of the following offerings to the Summoning Ritual event within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

  • Petrified Egg
  • Venomous Ooze
  • Spirit Urn

The Summoning Ritual event is a Temple Incursion that lasts for 10 minutes and is marked on the map with a snake icon. This particular Temple Incursion won't always be available, as they rotate between multiple.

During this world event, you'll need to gather 3 items to throw into the Ritual Cauldron. The Ritual Altar can be found just outside of the Amani Foothold within the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

  • /way #2509 47.22 54.42

Each item comes from a different location inside the Vaults: Venomous Ooze drops from Venomous Giants, Petrified Eggs are found on the ground, and Spirit Urns are also found on the ground.

Simply gather each item one by one and turn them in at the Ritual Altar to complete the achievement.

The Honored Dead

To complete The Honored Dead, you'll need to discover all Funerary Inscriptions throughout the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

The Honored Dead

These Funerary Inscriptions are scattered around the Vaults of Atal'Utek. The table below includes the coordinates for each of them.

  • Purifying Earth and Sky
  • The Underbelly
  • Overflowing Venom
  • Ruuk'jar's Clutch
  • Profane Pyres
  • Cursed Depths

Temple Strikes are world events that appear on the map as a snake head icon. Similar to other world events in Midnight, they won't move to a new location until the current strike has been completed.

Oppose the Foes

To complete Oppose the Foes, you'll need to defeat the following Ancient Foes within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

  • Congealed Malice
  • Khu'tulak
  • Susarikk

Ancient Foes are mini world bosses that spawn after a Temple Incursion has been successfully completed.

To spawn a Temple Incursion, you will need to wait for a message at the top of your screen that says "Complete the current Strike to begin an Incursion". Once you finish the active Temple Strike, a 10 minute event called a Temple Incursion will begin.

We recommend grouping with other players so you can complete the event in time and defeat the Ancient Foe.

Dance While Everyone Watches

To complete Dance While Everyone Watches, you'll need to dance while defending each of the stones in the Cache of Three event within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

  • Many Faces Stone
  • Poison Stone
  • Stone of Shackles
Dance While Everyone Watches

During the Temple Incursion: Cache of the Three event, there will be 3 shrines marked on the map you'll need to /dance near: the Shrine of Serpents, the Shrine of Shackles, and the Shrine of Venom. While the event is active, /dance in the circle surrounding the shrine for a few moments uninterrupted until confetti appears. We recommend using crowd control abilities or immunities to help avoid being interrupted.

Soft Underbelly

To complete Soft Underbelly, you'll need to eliminate the following threats inside the Underbelly within the Vaults of Atal'Utek:

The Underbelly is located underground, at the very back of the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

Soft Underbelly

3 of the threats are available during The Underbelly Temple Strike: Champion of the Scale, Priest of the First Rattle and Guardian of the Sacrifice. Once they are defeated, the threats will not respawn until Temple Strike: The Underbelly appears again in the rotation.

The other 2 threats (Szarith the Fanged and Vserix the Sneaky) are also found inside of The Underbelly area of the Vaults of Atal'Utek, but don't require The Underbelly Temple Strike to be active.

Fully Corroded

To complete Fully Corroded, you'll need to unlock every talent point at the Altar of Corrosion within the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

The Altar of Corrosion is the new player power system for WoW Patch 12.1. It can be found inside of the Amani Foothold.

  • /way #2509 51.2 62.6 – Altar of Corrosion
Fully Corroded

Each upgrade to the Altar requires Spirit Corrosion. Spirit Corrosion can be obtained by:

  • Corroding your spirit with Er'inye: Spend Corrosive Coins with Er'inye to gain Spirit Corrosion.
  • Obtaining Corrosive Relics: Find the 4 different Discoveries, each giving you 1 Spirit Corrosion. This is required to unlock 4 choice nodes, and therefore the achievement.
  • Supporting Zul'jarra's Forces: Unlock Renown level 8 and 14 with Zul'jarra's Forces.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Track your progress: Use the Achievements tab to monitor which sub-achievements you've completed and which ones are still pending.
  • Group up for Incursions and Strikes: Temple Incursions and Strikes are much easier with a group. Use the Group Finder to join or form groups for these activities.
  • Be patient with rotations: Some achievements depend on specific events that rotate. If a particular Incursion or Strike isn't available, check back later — they will eventually appear.
  • Don't forget the Funerary Inscriptions: The Honored Dead is easy to miss if you're not actively looking for the inscriptions. Use the table above to find them all.
  • Altar of Corrosion requires multiple sources: Fully Corroded isn't just about spending Corrosive Coins. You'll also need to find the 4 Corrosive Relics and reach Renown 14 with Zul'jarra's Forces.
  • This achievement is account-wide: Progress toward Assault the Vault is shared across your Warband, so you can work on different sub-achievements on different characters.

Useful Addons for Vaults of Atal'Utek Farming

Completing the Assault the Vault meta-achievement requires engagement with a wide variety of content. The right addons can help you track events, locate inscriptions, and coordinate with groups.

  • HandyNotes: Displays the locations of Funerary Inscriptions, Corrosive Relics, and other points of interest on your map. Essential for The Honored Dead and Fully Corroded achievements.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to Funerary Inscriptions, Ancient Foe locations, and Altar of Corrosion.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed which activities, useful if you're working on the meta-achievement across multiple alts.
  • RareScanner: Alerts you when Ancient Foes and other rare mobs spawn in the Vaults.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up over a long grind.
  • World Quest Tracker: Shows all available world events on a single panel, helping you quickly identify when Temple Strikes or Incursions are active.

Pro tip: Use HandyNotes to find all Funerary Inscriptions and Corrosive Relics. This will save you hours of searching and ensure you don't miss any required objectives.
