In World of Warcraft, not every mount requires a Mythic raid kill, a Gladiator push, or a months-long achievement grind. For new collectors looking to quickly expand their journal, the simplest path is often walking up to a vendor and handing over your gold. There is a surprisingly large selection of mounts that ask for nothing more than the coins in your pocket—no reputation, no quests, no RNG.
This guide covers the mounts you can purchase directly with gold, organized by faction and location. Whether you are a fresh level 10 character or a seasoned collector filling gaps, these vendors offer reliable, no-condition additions to your stable.
For players on the Horde side, several vendors in capital cities and key locations offer mounts for pure gold. These are straightforward purchases with no hidden conditions.
In Orgrimmar, you can purchase seven mounts from a single vendor. Drakma is located near the center of the city at /way 48.0 58.6. This is one of the most efficient stops for Horde collectors, as you can buy all seven flying mounts in one visit.
In the original version of Dalaran (Wrath of the Lich King), you can acquire five mounts from two different vendors. The first four are sold by Mei Francis at the Violet Rise, located at /way 58.0 43.6.
The fifth mount is sold by Mirla Silverblaze, located nearby at /way 52.6 56.4. This vendor is technically a guild vendor, but the mount requires no guild reputation to purchase.
Alliance players have a similar set of options, primarily concentrated in Stormwind City and Old Dalaran.
In Stormwind, you can purchase eight mounts. Seven of them are sold by Tannec Stonebeak, located at /way 71.6 72.6.
The eighth mount is unique to the Alliance in that it can be purchased directly, while its Horde counterpart requires guild reputation. Paulie in Stormwind's Old Town at /way 73.2 59.6 sells the Champion's Treadblade for 100,000 gold.
Alliance players have access to the same Dalaran vendors as Horde, with faction-appropriate versions of the flying mounts.

Beyond faction-specific vendors, there are several mounts available to both factions with no additional conditions.
The same guild vendor in Old Dalaran also sells three mounts that are available to both factions. These are excellent additions for any collector, regardless of allegiance.
In Kun-Lai Summit, Uncle Bigpocket sells three mounts. One of them—the Grand Expedition Yak—is a staple for any player who cares about transmogrification.
In your garrison from the Warlords of Draenor expansion, you can purchase two mounts from faction-specific vendors. The mounts are the same, but the vendors differ by faction.
Horde: Dawn-Seeker Alkset
Alliance: Trader Araanda
In Legion's version of Dalaran, the infamous Mad Merchant sells one of the most expensive gold-only mounts in the game. He is located at /way 43.6 36.8. While his spawn is not always guaranteed, the mount itself requires nothing but gold once he is present.
In Battle for Azeroth, the Palehide Direhorn is available to both factions through different vendors. There are no reputation requirements for this purchase.
Horde: Talutu in Zuldazar at /way 48.6 87.0
Alliance: Tricky Nick in Tiragarde Sound at /way 56.66 46.86
This purchase is slightly different from the others. While there are no restrictions to buy the mounts, the vendor himself—Gottum—is hidden in a secret location you will need to find. He sells three giant frog mounts in different colors.
To find Gottum, head to the western side of Nazmir, near Krag'wa's Burrow. The entrance to his cave is easy to miss because it does not look like a large cavern opening. Instead, it appears as a narrow crack or slit in the terrain leading downward.
Once inside, follow the path down until you reach Gottum. He sells all three Marsh Hopper mounts, so this single hidden vendor is the only NPC you need for the full set.
After reaching him, simply interact with the vendor and purchase whichever Marsh Hopper colors you want. If your goal is the complete set, you can buy all three in a single visit as long as you bring enough gold.
Tracking down vendors and managing your gold is easier with the right tools. These addons will help you navigate to the vendors and keep an eye on your funds.
Pro tip: If you are saving for an expensive mount like the Bloodfang Cocoon, use TSM to track your gold total across all your characters. Every copper counts when you are aiming for 2 million.
