The Regal Corpsefly is a striking, regal-hued insect mount whose iridescent green and purple carapace and translucent wings make it one of the most distinctive corpsefly variants in the Shadowlands. Its shimmering, jewel-toned shell and the soft hum of its wings make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a vibrant, insectoid aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its humorous naming: "Only the forces of Maldraxxus would call a corpsefly 'regal.'" For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a long-term Covenant progression, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to the Necrolord Covenant and your mastery over the anima reserves of Maldraxxus.
Introduced in patch 9.1.0 "Chains of Domination", the Regal Corpsefly is a vendor-purchased mount that requires reaching Renown 70 with the Necrolord Covenant. Unlike many mounts that drop from bosses or require complex achievements, this one is a straightforward milestone reward — a guaranteed purchase once you've proven your loyalty to the House of the Chosen. The journey demands consistent weekly engagement with your Covenant's activities, but the path is clear and predictable. For players who enjoy structured progression with a visible endpoint, the Regal Corpsefly offers a rewarding and attainable goal.
The Regal Corpsefly is purchased from Su Zettai in the Seat of the Primus for 7,500 Reservoir Anima, but only after reaching Renown 70 with the Necrolord Covenant. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply reach the required Renown, gather enough Anima, and buy the mount.
Su Zettai is found in the Necrolord covenant's base called Seat of the Primus. She is in the main hall on the left side, next to the Sanctum Upgrades NPC.
If you are not already a member of the Necrolord Covenant, you must first join them. This becomes available after you complete the main Shadowlands campaign and finish the quest Choosing Your Purpose in Oribos, where you pledge your allegiance to a covenant. The Necrolord Covenant is essential for this mount, as it is exclusively available to its members.
You must complete the quest Welcome To Our House and the basic tasks that unlock the sanctum Seat of the Primus.
Renown is the primary progression system for Covenants in Shadowlands. To reach Renown 70, you'll need to engage with a variety of activities. The most efficient path depends on where you are in your Covenant journey.
If you're starting from scratch: Questing through the 9.0 main campaign is highly recommended. Each chapter of the Necrolord campaign rewards 2 Renown levels, and completing the entire campaign is the fastest way to earn your first ranks. You'll also unlock other zones and earn a substantial amount of Renown along the way. After finishing the main campaign plus a bit of Korthia's campaign, you'll likely reach a high Renown level.
If you're looking to grind Renown as fast as possible: Running a normal Torghast wing (not Twisting Corridors or Jailer's Gauntlet) has a high chance to reward Renown. Any layer works, as it's relatively fast and trivial with current gear. Killing Shadowlands raid bosses also has a high chance of granting a Renown level.
Other reliable sources of Renown include:
If you've reached maximum (80) Renown with any covenant on any character on your account, you can purchase a Broker Mark of Distinction to quickly boost your current covenant's Renown.
Important: You can check if you've reached 80 Renown before by searching for the Renowned achievement in your achievements tab. If you have this achievement, you can use the Broker Mark of Distinction on any character to skip the early Renown grind and reach Renown 60 instantly. From there, you only need to grind 10 more Renown to reach 70 and purchase the mount.
Reservoir Anima is the lifeblood of the Shadowlands, and it flows from nearly every activity you can imagine. Whether you're questing, raiding, or simply exploring, you'll constantly accumulate this currency. For the 7,500 Anima needed to purchase the Regal Corpsefly, you'll want to focus on the most efficient sources to avoid an endless grind.
The fastest way to get a large chunk of Anima is by defeating all three Shadowlands world bosses, provided you've unlocked Korthia and Zereth Mortis:
Completing all three will net you a total of 1,500 Anima. However, there's a catch: you only receive the Anima from the associated world quest. If the world quest isn't active, killing the boss will not reward you with any Anima.
Raids are another excellent source of Anima. Bosses have a very high chance to drop it, and you can expect at least 500 Anima per raid — often more. As a bonus, you'll also have chances at rare raid mounts while you're at it.
If you're looking for something more frequent to grind, farming rares in Zereth Mortis is highly recommended. They have a very high chance to drop Anima in generous amounts. Treasures are also decent, and Korthia as a whole is another great place to farm — from its rares, dailies, and treasures. Finally, you can always fly around completing Anima world quests on your map. Shadowlands world quests change daily, so there will regularly be new ones available.
Farming Renown to 70 requires consistency and efficiency. The right addons can help you track your progress, identify activities that reward Renown, and manage your Covenant campaign.
Pro tip: Use AltVault: Covenants to track your Renown progress and Anima reserves. Combine with World Quest Tracker to filter only Renown-rewarding quests, and use TomTom to navigate to them efficiently.
