Preyhunter's Fury Mount Guide

Updated 28 Aug 2026 | Author: Invord | ~7 min

The Preyhunter's Fury is a sleek, spectral mount whose ethereal green flames and predatory silhouette embody the relentless spirit of the hunt. Its translucent, fiery form and the trail of fading green fire it leaves behind make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a dark, mystical aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its hunter's nature: "You don't follow tracks; you follow the fading green fire." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of progressing through the Prey system, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your mastery over Midnight's most thrilling open-world content.

Introduced in patch 12.1.0 as part of the Midnight Season 2 update, the Preyhunter's Fury is the ultimate reward for dedicated participants in the Prey system. This mount isn't about luck or rare drops — it's earned through consistent engagement with the hunt, tracking your progress through a structured seasonal journey. The path to obtaining it is a test of patience and commitment, requiring players to complete hunts week after week until they reach the highest rank of the Preyhunter's Journey. For players who enjoy the thrill of the chase and want a mount that reflects their dedication to the hunt, the Preyhunter's Fury is one of the most prestigious rewards of Midnight Season 2.

How to Get Preyhunter's Fury

Preyhunter's Fury

The Preyhunter's Fury is purchased from Construct V'anore in Astalor's Sanctum, Silvermoon City, for 2,250 Remnant of Anguish, but only after reaching Rank 10 of the Preyhunter's Journey. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply reach Rank 10, gather enough Remnant of Anguish, and buy the mount.

The Construct V'anore vendor is located in the Prey hub in Silvermoon City:

  • /way 55.8 65.8 – Construct V'anore
Tip: The real challenge is reaching Rank 10 — not the currency. Focus your efforts on completing hunts to progress the Preyhunter's Journey, and the Remnant of Anguish will accumulate naturally.

Understanding the System

The Prey system is an open-world hunting activity introduced in Midnight, where players accept hunts and track down powerful enemies across the world. To unlock Prey, you must first reach Level 90. Speak to Astalor Bloodsworn, who can be found in Silvermoon City, to begin the introductory quest Prey: Astalor's Initiative. The location of Astalor's Sanctum is marked on your map with a special icon.

  • /way 56.6 65.6 – Astalor Bloodsworn

Follow this questline until you complete To the Sanctum!, which unlocks Normal difficulty hunts at the Hunt Table in Astalor's Sanctum. Once unlocked, Normal difficulty hunts can be completed on your alts while leveling to 90. After completing the introductory questline, you will also gain access to the Hunt Table, where you can accept new hunts.

Completing Hunts

Once you have unlocked the Prey system through the introductory questline, you can begin accepting hunts. To start a Hunt, click on the Hunt Table in Astalor's Sanctum. A map will open with a list of all available Hunts, with each zone offering three Prey targets to choose from — one for each difficulty.

Selecting a Hunt will display key details, including:

  • Zone: The area where the hunt takes place.
  • Difficulty: Normal or Nightmare.
  • Active Torments: Additional modifiers that affect the hunt.
  • Rewards: What you'll earn upon completion.
Hunt Table

Once a Hunt has been selected, head to the zone where your target is located. At the top of your UI, you will see an Anguish crystal that displays the current status of your Hunt.

To draw out your target, you must complete a certain number of objectives in the zone, such as:

  • Completing World Quests — standard zone activities.
  • Looting Treasures — hidden caches and items.
  • Defeating Rares + Remnants of Anguish — killing powerful mobs.
  • Disabling Traps — interacting with Prey traps found throughout the zone.
  • Defending Against an Ambush — responding to surprise attacks.
  • Riposting Your Target — countering the prey's movements.

These objectives will be highlighted on your minimap, so keep an eye out for them to make steady progress. After completing enough objectives, the Anguish crystal will glow bright red, and your target's location will be marked on your minimap.

At your target's location, you will find an Anguish crystal that starts the boss fight when clicked. Once the boss is defeated, the Hunt will conclude with a UI summary showcasing the details of your hunt and rewarding you with Remnant of Anguish and progress toward your Preyhunter's Journey.

Earning Preyhunter's Journey Progress

Preyhunter's Journey progress is earned by completing hunts offered at the Hunt Table or by Astalor Bloodsworn. The first hunt you complete each week grants a significant bonus:

With this system, reaching Rank 10 requires approximately 3-4 weeks of consistent hunting, primarily relying on the weekly bonus hunts.

Farming Remnant of Anguish

Remnant of Anguish drops while completing Prey Hunts and can be exchanged for various rewards from Construct V'anore. By the time you reach Rank 10, you will have accumulated a significant amount of this currency from completing hunts.

Most efficient farming method: Triggering Prey traps found in the areas around a Prey World Quest. These traps appear after accepting a hunt from the Hunt Table or Astalor.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Don't skip the weekly bonus hunts: The first hunt of the week rewards 5,000 points — more than a full rank of progress. Make sure you complete it every week without fail.
  • Complete hunts efficiently: Focus on completing hunts rather than farming mobs. Each completed hunt progresses your Journey, while mob kills only provide incidental currency.
  • Use Prey traps for currency: If you find yourself short on Remnant of Anguish at Rank 10, farm Prey traps — they are the most efficient source of currency.
  • Nightmare difficulty: If you're comfortable with the challenge, Nightmare difficulty hunts offer increased rewards. However, they are solo-only and significantly harder than normal hunts.
  • Patience is key: The Preyhunter's Journey is time-gated by the weekly bonus system. Expect to spend several weeks reaching Rank 10.

Useful Addons for Preyhunter's Fury

Farming the Preyhunter's Fury requires efficient hunt completion and tracking your progress. The right addons can help you locate hunts, plan routes, and stay on top of your weekly bonuses. Here are some addons designed specifically for the Prey system, along with general-purpose tools:

  • Preydator: The most popular Prey-specific addon. Adds a clear, customizable progress bar that tracks each stage of the hunt with distinct visual and audio cues inspired by the movie Predator. The default UI doesn't show exact progress, making this addon invaluable for knowing how close you are to finding your prey.
  • Preybreaker: A lightweight alternative that mirrors the current hunt stage in a cleaner overlay. Supports radial, orb, bar, and text-only display styles. Can automatically watch, supertrack, and auto-turn-in prey quests, plus auto-purchase randomized hunts based on your preferences.
  • PreyWatch: A minimal and lightweight tracker that replaces Blizzard's default Prey widget with a cleaner, more readable display. Features segmented bar and radial display options, adjustable width and opacity, and integrates directly with WoW's Edit Mode for easy positioning.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to hunt locations, Astalor Bloodsworn, and Construct V'anore.
  • World Quest Tracker: Shows all available Prey World Quests on a single panel, helping you quickly identify hunting opportunities.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed their weekly bonus hunts, useful if you're farming on multiple alts.
  • Rarity: Tracks your progress toward the mount and other Prey rewards.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up over a long grind.

Pro tip: For the most efficient farm, combine a dedicated Prey addon like Preydator or Preybreaker with World Quest Tracker to quickly identify available hunts, and use TomTom to navigate to them efficiently.
