Predatory Plagueroc Mount Guide

Updated 11 Sep 2026 | Author: Invord | ~6 min

The Predatory Plagueroc is a fearsome, plague-ridden vulture whose tattered wings and insatiable hunger embody the grim, relentless nature of the House of Constructs. Its sickly green plumage, sharp talons, and the aura of decay that surrounds it make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a dark, predatory aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its legendary appetite: "Gieger's everlasting hunger is legendary amongst the House of Constructs, and no beast is too large or bony to fit inside its massive stomach." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a rare drop from a secretive spawn, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to the Necrolord Covenant and your mastery of the Anima Conductor system.

Introduced in patch 9.0.1 as part of the Shadowlands expansion, the Predatory Plagueroc is a mount that rewards those who have fully embraced the Necrolord Covenant's unique systems. Unlike many rare spawns that can be camped freely, this plague-ridden vulture requires a daily investment in your Sanctum's Anima Conductor and a commitment to the dark arts of Maldraxxus. The journey is one of patience and routine — a daily ritual that brings you one step closer to a truly elusive prize. For players who enjoy the rhythm of a daily hunt and the thrill of a rare drop, the Predatory Plagueroc offers one of the most engaging and rewarding mount farms in the Shadowlands.

  • Added in patch: 9.0.1 "Shadowlands"
  • Mount type: Flying
  • Source: Rare drop
  • Covenant: Necrolord required to summon (any Covenant can loot)
  • Time to complete: Depends on RNG (potentially weeks)

How to Get Predatory Plagueroc

Predatory Plagueroc

The Predatory Plagueroc has a chance to drop from Gieger, a rare elite construct in the House of Constructs area of Maldraxxus. While the mount can be looted by characters of any Covenant, summoning Gieger requires a Necrolord player with an active Anima Conductor stream directed to the House of Constructs.

This is a low drop chance mount with an estimated rate of approximately 2-3%. The mount is Bind-on-Pickup, so it must be looted and learned on the character that obtains it. Gieger can be killed once per day per character, so using multiple alts can significantly increase your daily attempts.

Tip: While only a Necrolord can summon Gieger, any player who participates in the kill has a chance to loot the mount. If you're not a Necrolord, team up with one to summon the rare.

Step 1: Join the Necrolord Covenant

If you are not already a member of the Necrolord Covenant, you must first join them. This becomes available after you complete the main Shadowlands campaign and finish the quest Choosing Your Purpose in Oribos, where you pledge your allegiance to a covenant. The Necrolord Covenant is essential for this mount, as the Anima Conductor and the ability to loot Gieger are exclusive to its members.

You must complete the quest Welcome To Our House and the basic tasks that unlock the sanctum Seat of the Primus.

Step 2: Upgrade the Anima Conductor to Tier 1

To spawn Gieger, you must first unlock the Anima Conductor system. This requires purchasing the Tier 1: Flowing Tendrils upgrade from the Sanctum Upgrades NPC, Arkadia Moa, in the Seat of the Primus.

After completing the research, you will receive a breadcrumb quest to activate the Anima Conductor. Click the glowing scroll to activate it.

Step 3: Spawn and Defeat Gieger

To summon Gieger, you first need to channel Anima to the House of Constructs using your Covenant's Anima Conductor. Once the Anima Conductor is active, you can select one location per day to channel Anima to. Each daily stream costs 25 Reservoir Anima to open, and it remains active for 24 hours or until the daily reset.

After channeling Anima to the House of Constructs, head to the area in southern Maldraxxus. Gieger lies inactive on a large slab. As a Necrolord player with the Anima Conductor stream active, you will see a small, glowing tendril called the Final Thread next to Gieger's right foot.

  • /way 31.4 35.6 – Gieger

Click on the Final Thread and move your character away from Gieger. This will cause him to activate and become hostile.

Once defeated, loot Gieger for a chance at the Predatory Plagueroc mount.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Any Covenant can loot the mount: While a Necrolord is required to summon Gieger, players from any Covenant who participate in the kill have a chance to receive the mount.
  • Daily lockout: Gieger can be killed once per day per character. Use multiple alts to increase your daily attempts.
  • Channel Anima daily: A Necrolord character must channel Anima to the House of Constructs each day to spawn Gieger. Don't forget to do this before heading to the spawn location.
  • Check the Final Thread: If you don't see the glowing tendril next to Gieger's foot, double-check that the Anima Conductor stream is active for the House of Constructs.
  • Bring a friend: While soloable, having a friend can make the fight faster and help if you're undergeared.

Useful Addons for Farming Predatory Plagueroc

Farming the Predatory Plagueroc requires daily visits to the House of Constructs and efficient tracking of your Anima Conductor streams. The right addons can help you stay organized.

  • RareScanner or SilverDragon: Alerts you when Gieger spawns nearby, making it easier to track the rare.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to Arkadia Moa, the Anima Conductor, and Gieger's spawn location.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have already killed Gieger for the day, essential if you're farming on multiple Necrolord alts.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair and auto-sell junk — small time savers during extended farming sessions.

Pro tip: Use SavedInstances to track which of your Necrolord alts have already killed Gieger for the day. This ensures you don't miss any attempts.

The Predatory Plagueroc is a rare and prestigious mount, but the daily Anima Conductor requirement and low drop rate can make the grind lengthy.
