Ironbound Wraithcharger Mount Guide

Updated 08 Apr 2026 | Author: Invord | ~9 min

The Ironbound Wraithcharger is one of the most atmospheric Timewalking mounts available for collectors who enjoy ghostly undead themes and Wrath of the Lich King aesthetics. With its spectral glow, plated barding, and heavy warhorse silhouette, it feels like a true Northrend-era reward rather than just another vendor mount. It is especially appealing to players who like darker flying mounts with a more menacing presence than the usual gryphons, drakes, or carpets.

What makes the Ironbound Wraithcharger particularly attractive is how predictable its acquisition is. There is no random drop chance, no weekly boss reset to work around, and no need to chase rare luck. Once you collect enough Timewarped Badges, the mount is guaranteed. The only real limitation is availability, because it can only be purchased during the Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking event.

  • Added in patch: 6.2.2 "Fury of Hellfire"
  • Mount type: Flying
  • Source: Timewalking vendor
  • Cost: 5000 Timewarped Badges
  • Availability: Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking only

How to get Ironbound Wraithcharger

Ironbound Wraithcharger

The Ironbound Wraithcharger can be purchased from Auzin in old Northrend Dalaran for 5000 Timewarped Badges. The vendor only appears for practical purposes during Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking, so even if you already have enough badges saved, you still need to wait for the correct event week before you can buy the mount.

Unlike low-drop raid mounts or complicated secret unlocks, this is a straightforward currency grind. That makes the route much more reliable and much easier to plan, but it also means efficiency matters a lot more. If you want to secure the Ironbound Wraithcharger quickly, your focus should be on maximizing badge income during the event rather than casually doing a few dungeons and hoping the total will somehow add up.

Farming Timewarped Badges for a 5000-cost mount can still take a long time if you start the event with no reserve at all. If you want a faster and more organized route, our Ironbound Wraithcharger service helps you prepare the currency and secure the mount without spending the entire event on repetitive farming.

Get to Auzin in WotLK Dalaran

To get to old Northrend Dalaran, head to the portal room in either Orgrimmar or Stormwind.

For Horde, the portal you need is the one closest to your right as you walk into the main portal room. It is positioned near the Jade Forest portal, making it one of the easier older-expansion portals to spot once you know where to look.

For Alliance, enter the main part of the portal room and turn to your right. The old Dalaran portal is the closest one in that direction, sitting near the Exodar portal and across from the Jade Forest portal. Once you take it, you will arrive in the Wrath version of Dalaran above Crystalsong Forest.

The Timewalking hub for Wrath of the Lich King is located in Northrend Dalaran. This is where you will find Auzin and Vormu, the vendor and quest-giver NPCs associated with the event.

Timewarped Badges farm

Timewarped Badges are the main currency behind all major Timewalking vendor rewards, and the Ironbound Wraithcharger demands the full 5000. In practice, that means this is not a mount most players will casually pick up unless they have already been stockpiling badges across earlier events. If you want to get it within a single cycle or at least make meaningful progress toward it, you need to approach the event efficiently and focus on the activities that give the best return.

The most dependable and endlessly repeatable source of badges is the Timewalking dungeon queue. Every run awards badges from bosses as well as from the final completion reward, and because there is no hard weekly cap on pure dungeon farming, repeated clears become the backbone of the grind. For a vendor mount like this, the majority of your total currency will almost always come from spamming dungeons rather than from one-off quests alone.

  • Dungeon bosses: 20 badges per boss
  • Final boss: 25 badges
  • Dungeon completion: 10 badges

The 6 dungeons available during Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking are listed below, together with the usual amount of Timewarped Badges you can expect from each run:

  • Azjol'Nerub - 65 badges
  • The Forge of Souls - 55 badges
  • Gundrak - 75 badges required bosses, 85 full run
  • Halls of Lightning - 75 badges
  • The Nexus - 75 badges
  • Utgarde Keep - 65 badges

The first Timewalking dungeon you complete on a character during the active week will also start The Unstable Prism, a quest that can be turned in to Auzin. This quest awards 500 Timewarped Badges for the first completion on your account that week, while additional completions on other characters award only 200.

That makes the very first completion dramatically more valuable than every follow-up turn-in. If your goal is to buy the Ironbound Wraithcharger during the current event cycle, claiming that first bonus as early as possible is one of the highest-value moves you can make.

Some Timewalking rotations also feature Timewalking raids, and those raids come with their own large badge quests. The most notable examples are:

  • Blackrock Depths (Classic)
  • Black Temple (The Burning Crusade)
  • Ulduar (Wrath of the Lich King)
  • Firelands (Cataclysm)

Each of these raids has a related quest, such as Disturbance Detected: Ulduar, and the first completion rewards a substantial badge payout. Even though not every one of these raids belongs to the same Timewalking rotation, they are still extremely relevant for long-term planning because many collectors build a badge reserve over several events and then spend it the moment the mount they want becomes available.

The Disturbance Detected quests generally require you to defeat the final boss of the featured raid. Because of that, many players use the Group Finder to look for skip groups, partial clears, or end-boss-focused groups instead of doing a full raid clear every single time.

Like Timewalking dungeons, completing a Timewalking raid also rewards a special quest item that can be turned in after the final boss dies for 500 Timewarped Badges. To receive that reward item, your character must be at least level 30.

After that first turn-in during the active event, all later turn-ins on the same cycle award only 300 Timewarped Badges. That massive difference is exactly why the first completion has the highest value by far and should always be prioritized if you want to optimize your total badge income.

In addition to the badges, caches from quests like Disturbance Detected: Ulduar can also contain rare expansion-themed rewards. For example, during Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking, players have a chance to receive Invincible as a bonus reward from the cache.

Tip: Queueing as a tank or healer usually cuts waiting time dramatically, which makes badge farming much more efficient than trying to complete the exact same grind entirely on DPS characters.

Best way to farm Ironbound Wraithcharger

If you are targeting the Ironbound Wraithcharger specifically, the most efficient method is to secure all large one-time rewards first and only then move into pure dungeon farming.

  • Complete your first Timewalking dungeon and turn in The Unstable Prism
  • Finish the weekly Timewalking quest during the active event
  • Complete any available Timewalking raid quest for the large first-time reward
  • Use alts for additional bonus turn-ins if you want to accelerate your badge total
  • Farm dungeons afterward until you reach the full 5000

Players who already maintain a healthy badge reserve from earlier Timewalking cycles may be able to buy this mount almost immediately once Wrath Timewalking begins. For players starting from zero, however, the grind becomes much longer, so every early quest reward matters.

It is also important to remember that having the badges is only part of the requirement. You still need to visit Auzin during the active Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking event. If you miss the event window, you will have to wait for the next rotation.

Extra tips for Ironbound Wraithcharger

Because the Ironbound Wraithcharger is purchased directly from a vendor rather than obtained as a random drop, this grind is much more predictable than the average mount farm. That removes the frustration of bad RNG, but it also means poor planning immediately turns into wasted time.

  • Save badges in advance: If you already participate in Timewalking regularly, keeping a reserve makes expensive vendor mounts much easier to buy
  • Use multiple characters: Bonus quest turn-ins on alts can noticeably speed up the total grind
  • Prioritize queue speed: Faster entry into dungeons often matters more than slightly faster kill times
  • Do not wait until the final day: The mount is only purchasable while Wrath Timewalking remains active

Another useful detail is that Auzin offers more than one collector-friendly Wrath-themed reward. If there are other items, pets, or cosmetics you want from the same vendor, it often makes more sense to plan for a larger badge total rather than stopping exactly at 5000.

Useful Add-ons for Ironbound Wraithcharger

Since this mount is tied to repeated dungeon clears, efficient routing, and tracking event rewards across several characters, a few simple addons can make the entire process much smoother.

  • Premade Groups Filter: Helps you find faster raid groups, skip groups, and more efficient listings in Group Finder
  • TomTom: Useful for waypointing Auzin and other turn-in locations
  • Leatrix Maps: Improves city navigation and makes portal room travel easier
  • SavedInstances: Excellent for tracking weekly Timewalking progress, alt usage, and reward opportunities across your account

For players farming badges on multiple characters, SavedInstances is especially useful because it lets you check which alts have already completed their valuable event activities and which ones can still be used for extra progress.
