Emerald Skyfang Mount Guide

Updated 22 Aug 2026 | Author: Invord | ~5 min

The Emerald Skyfang is a majestic green wind serpent whose vibrant emerald scales and sleek, predatory form make it one of the most visually striking mounts from the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Its luminous coloration and graceful, gliding movements make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a radiant, natural aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its role in the Vaults: "Found patrolling the skies of Atal'Utek, maintaining the peace and a full stomach." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a long-term grind, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to patrolling the depths of the Vaults.

Introduced in patch 12.1.0 as part of the Midnight Season 2 update, the Emerald Skyfang offers a refreshingly straightforward path compared to many of the zone's other mount rewards. This vibrant wind serpent isn't about luck, rare spawns, or complex currency systems — it's about showing up consistently and chipping away at a long-term goal. The journey to this mount is as simple as it is time-consuming: complete a high volume of repeatable content in the Vaults of Atal'Utek until the achievement pops. For collectors who appreciate a clear, measurable goal and the satisfaction of steady progress, the Emerald Skyfang is a perfect example of how persistence pays off in World of Warcraft.

  • Added in patch: 12.1.0 "Curse of Ula'tek"
  • Mount type: Flying
  • Source: Achievement reward
  • Repeat attempts: Unlimited farming

How to Get Emerald Skyfang

Emerald Skyfang

The Emerald Skyfang is awarded upon completing the Pro Poison Patroller achievement, which requires you to complete 250 Temple Patrols in the Vaults of Atal'Utek. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no currency to grind. Simply complete enough Patrols, and the mount is yours.

Tip: Temple Patrols rotate every 10 minutes, giving you frequent opportunities to progress the achievement. Combine Patrols with other Vaults activities like Strikes and Incursions to make the most of your time in the zone.

Unlocking Access to the Vaults of Atal'Utek

Before you can begin farming Temple Patrols, you must first gain access to The Coiled Isle. The island becomes available during the main campaign questline The Curse of Ula'tek in Patch 12.1.0 during Chapter 2. The quest What Lies Beyond the Fog sends you to the island.

Once you've completed the introductory questline, you are able to fly over to the island on every character that is part of your Warband. If you haven't completed the campaign on your main character, you will need to do so before you can access the island on your alts.

As you progress through the main campaign, you will automatically unlock access to the Vaults of Atal'Utek, the subterranean heart of the island's repeatable content. The Vaults house Temple Patrols, Strikes, Incursions, and the Altar of Corrosion. No additional quests are required — simply follow the campaign until the Vaults become available, and you'll have full access to all activities needed to progress the achievement.

The Pro Poison Patroller Achievement

The Pro Poison Patroller achievement requires completing 250 patrols within the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

Temple Patrols function similarly to world quests and are marked on the map with a circular star icon. They rotate to new locations every 10 minutes, giving you frequent opportunities to progress the achievement as you complete other zone objectives.

Each Temple Patrol has an NPC you'll need to speak with to begin the bonus objective. After interacting with them, complete the short task to earn credit toward the achievement.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Use a Tank spec for easier farming: All enemies in the Vaults are elite and hit hard. Playing as a Tank will dramatically increase your survivability and allow you to complete Patrols faster than a Healer or DPS — especially when soloing.
  • Combine Patrols with other Vaults activities: Patrols are quick, but they're even better when combined with Strikes, Incursions, and daily quests for Corrosive Coins. This way, you progress multiple goals at once.
  • Track your progress: Use the achievement tracker to monitor your Patrol count. This helps you stay motivated and know exactly how many more Patrols you need.
  • Don't skip the NPC interaction: Each Patrol requires speaking to an NPC to start the objective. Make sure you speak to them before completing the objective, or it won't count.
  • Check the map frequently: Patrols rotate every 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the map to catch new Patrols as they appear.

Useful Addons for Emerald Skyfang Farming

Farming 250 Temple Patrols requires efficiency and consistency. The right addons can help you track Patrol locations, monitor your progress, and optimise your routes.

  • HandyNotes: Displays all Patrol locations on your map, making it easy to plan efficient routes through the Vaults.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to active Patrol locations. Essential for minimising travel time between objectives.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed Patrols for the day, helping you manage multiple alts efficiently.
  • World Quest Tracker: Shows all active Patrols on a single panel, allowing you to quickly identify which ones are available.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up over 250 Patrols.
  • Rarity: Tracks your progress toward the achievement and other Vaults rewards. A great way to stay motivated during the grind.
