Duskflutter Ardenmoth Mount Guide

Updated 04 Sep 2026 | Author: Invord | ~9 min

The Duskflutter Ardenmoth is a magnificent, dusky-hued moth whose dark, elegant wings and ethereal presence embody the mysterious beauty of Ardenweald's twilight forests. Its deep purple and blue tones, delicate flight patterns, and the soft glow it emits make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a mystical, natural aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its preferred habitat: "These ardenmoths prefer the dark and damp forests of northwest Ardenweald, where fungal colonies are perpetually blooming." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a long-term reputation grind, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to the Wild Hunt and the protection of Ardenweald's eternal cycle.

Introduced in patch 9.0.1 as part of the Shadowlands expansion, the Duskflutter Ardenmoth is a mount that rewards patience and dedication with certainty. Unlike its rare-drop counterpart, this elegant moth is a straightforward vendor purchase — once you've earned the trust of the Wild Hunt, the mount is yours without any luck involved. The path to Exalted reputation is a consistent daily commitment, but every world quest, calling, and side quest brings you measurably closer to your goal. For players who prefer a reliable grind with a guaranteed payoff, the Duskflutter Ardenmoth offers one of the most satisfying reputation rewards in Ardenweald.

  • Added in patch: 9.0.1 "Shadowlands"
  • Mount type: Flying
  • Source: Reputation vendor
  • Requirements: Exalted with The Wild Hunt, 30,000 gold
  • Time to complete: 1-2 weeks of consistent reputation farming

How to Get Duskflutter Ardenmoth

Duskflutter Ardenmoth

The Duskflutter Ardenmoth is purchased from Aithlyn in the Heart of the Forest for 30,000 gold, but only after reaching Exalted reputation with The Wild Hunt. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply reach Exalted, gather the gold, and buy the mount.

Important: This reputation and mount can be gained by any covenant, not just Night Fae. Players from Kyrian, Venthyr, and Necrolord can also earn reputation with The Wild Hunt through Ardenweald world quests and activities.

Unlocking The Wild Hunt Reputation

Before you can begin earning reputation with The Wild Hunt, you must first progress through the Shadowlands campaign. To gain access to Ardenweald, you must complete the linear Shadowlands storyline through all four main zones: Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth. Once you've reached Ardenweald, you can begin earning reputation with The Wild Hunt through various activities.

There are several ways to earn reputation with The Wild Hunt. Below are the most effective methods.

Side Quests

Completing the optional storylines in Ardenweald will yield steady gains with The Wild Hunt. Curiously, not all main campaign quests give The Wild Hunt reputation, but the side quests that are not part of the main campaign storyline often do. Unlike many of the other methods, the storylines aren't time-gated, so you can finish them whenever you like.

If the quest sorts under "Quests" rather than "Campaign" in your quest log, it's part of the optional storylines. Not every side quest gives rep, but many Ardenweald optional quests will give you 160 reputation with The Wild Hunt.

Callings and Challenges

Callings and challenges are essentially revamped emissary quests. Each day, players will receive a new calling or challenge from an NPC in their covenant sanctum that sends them to a different Shadowlands zone (including The Maw). Players may have up to three callings active at once, and callings expire after three days.

To complete the calling/challenge, players must do the designated content listed on the calling (world quests, freeing souls, and/or killing elites). Once completed, players will receive 1,500 (callings) or 2,000 reputation (challenges) with the faction that corresponds to the zone of the calling. When a calling sends you to Ardenweald, you'll earn reputation with The Wild Hunt.

World Quests

World quests are a daily source of reputation in Shadowlands. Each world quest completed awards a baseline of 125 reputation with the faction that corresponds to the zone. Some world quests will also award an additional 175 reputation as a bonus for completing it. To earn reputation with The Wild Hunt, players will need to complete world quests in Ardenweald.

Contract: The Wild HuntContract: The Wild Hunt can be purchased from the Auction House to gain 10 bonus reputation with this faction every time you complete a World Quest in any Shadowlands zone where world quests are available.

World Quests

Weekly Quests

Every week, players will be able to complete a total of 2 weekly quests in Oribos for 500 reputation each with a desired faction — or 1,000 reputation in total if both are directed toward The Wild Hunt.

Covenant Assaults

As players complete the initial quests for the Night Fae Covenant Assault, they will receive 125 Wild Hunt reputation per quest. Most notably, completing the Double Dromans intro quest awards an additional 175 reputation as a reward for completion. Upon completion of the Night Fae Covenant Assault, players will receive 1,000 reputation with The Wild Hunt.

Gaining Access to the Maw & Unlocking Assaults

Before you can participate in Covenant Assaults, you must secure access to the endgame Shadowlands zone where they're found.

Campaign Requirements:

After this, you can access the Maw at any time via the Soul Pillar in the centre of the Ring of Transference on Oribos's upper level.

Unlocking Covenant Assaults: To participate in assaults, you must progress further into the 9.1 campaign. Complete Chapter 2 of the Chains of Domination questline, starting with "Maw Walker". Afterwards, Bolvar Fordragon in Korthia will offer the breadcrumb quest "A Unified Effort", which unlocks the covenant assault system.

Understanding Covenant Assault Rotation

Covenant assaults are bi-weekly events in the Maw. Only one covenant leads the assault at a time, rotating in a fixed order:

  • Kyrian → Venthyr → Night Fae → Necrolord → (repeat)

You can check which assault is active by opening your Maw map or by visiting the "Today in WoW" section on Wowhead's front page under the Shadowlands category.

Covenant Assault Schedule on Wowhead

Rotation Schedule:

  • US Servers: Tuesdays at 8:00 AM PDT and Fridays at 8:00 PM PDT.
  • EU Servers: Wednesdays at 8:00 AM CET and Saturdays at 8:00 PM CET.

Reputation Gains — Buffs and Bonuses

As there are limited ways to earn reputation each day, it is essential to take advantage of reputation buffs whenever possible. Below are the most effective bonuses:

  • Darkmoon Faire: The Darkmoon Faire is in town starting on the first Sunday of every month. You can ride the rollercoaster or carousel to gain the WHEE! buff, which increases reputation gains by 10% for 60 minutes. You can also buy a Darkmoon Top Hat for 10 Darkmoon Prize Tickets to apply this buff without travelling to the Faire.
  • Human Racial Trait: Human characters have the Diplomacy racial, which increases all reputation gains by 10%.
  • Timewalking Events: While the Shadowlands Timewalking Event is active, you will gain the Sign of the Shadowlands buff, granting 50% bonus reputation from quests and creature kills. This is the most powerful reputation buff available and can dramatically shorten your grind. Plan your reputation farming around these events when possible.

Pro tip: Stack multiple buffs when possible. For example, a Human character during Shadowlands Timewalking with the Darkmoon Faire buff active will earn reputation at an accelerated rate, saving you days of grinding. Save your World Quest completions and turn-ins for these windows.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Complete the Ardenweald storyline first: The side quests in Ardenweald provide a significant amount of reputation. Prioritise completing them before focusing on daily world quests.
  • Use a contract from day one: The Contract: The Wild Hunt provides passive reputation for every World Quest completed in the Shadowlands. It adds up significantly over time.
  • Don't skip the Night Fae Covenant Assault: When the Night Fae assault is active in the Maw, prioritise completing it for the 1,000 reputation reward.
  • Save world quests for buffs: If a reputation buff event is coming (Darkmoon Faire, Timewalking), save your world quest completions for that window to maximise gains.
  • Don't worry about gold: By the time you reach Exalted, you will have more than 30,000 gold from natural gameplay. Focus your efforts on reputation, not currency.

Useful Addons for Reputation Farming

Farming reputation to Exalted requires consistency and efficiency. The right addons can help you track your progress, locate world quests, and never miss a daily opportunity.

  • World Quest Tracker: Shows all available world quests on a single panel, helping you quickly identify which Ardenweald world quests are up.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to world quest locations, rare mobs, and Aithlyn the vendor.
  • HandyNotes – Shadowlands (plugin): Displays rare spawn locations and points of interest on your map, helping you efficiently complete world quests.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed weekly quests, Covenant Assaults, and other activities. Useful if you're farming on multiple alts.
  • Parangon Reputation: An addon that modifies the reputation interface to show your Paragon progress instead of the Renown level. This lets you see at a glance how close you are to your next reputation milestone .
  • RepHub or AlterEgo: These addons allow you to view the reputation status of all your characters from a single interface. Particularly useful for managing the account-wide reputation system in Shadowlands .
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up over a long reputation grind.

Pro tip: Use World Quest Tracker to filter only Ardenweald world quests. Combine with Parangon Reputation to track your progress toward Exalted, and use SavedInstances to manage multiple characters efficiently.
