Child of Torcali Mount Guide

Updated 01 Aug 2026 | Author: Invord | ~5 min

The Child of Torcali is a magnificent direhorn, a creature of immense strength and ancient Zandalari lineage, whose spiked carapace and proud bearing embody the spirit of the great direhorn loa, Torcali. Its vibrant colours, sturdy frame, and the bond you form with it over the course of the quest chain make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a deep connection to Zandalari culture and a personal story. The flavour text speaks to its journey: "This daughter of the great direhorn loa, Torcali, never lost faith that her keeper would help her grow to her full potential." For Horde players who value a connection to their mount and enjoy the satisfaction of a long-term commitment, the Child of Torcali is a true treasure — a companion that carries the blessing of the loa themselves.

Introduced in patch 8.2.0 "Rise of Azshara", the Child of Torcali is a Horde-exclusive mount obtained through a multi-week quest chain that begins with a tiny, orphaned hatchling in the heart of Zuldazar. Unlike many mounts that rely on RNG or weekly lockouts, this mount is a guaranteed reward for completing a series of daily quests over approximately three weeks. The journey takes you from a vulnerable baby direhorn to a fully grown mount, with each stage of growth bringing new quests and a deepening bond. For collectors who enjoy nurturing a companion and watching it grow, the Child of Torcali offers a uniquely personal and rewarding experience — a true reflection of the Zandalari reverence for the loa.

  • Added in patch: 8.2.0 "Rise of Azshara"

  • Source: Quest chain (Horde only)
  • Requirements: Level 50, Zuldazar access
  • Time to complete: 3 weeks of daily quests

How to Get Child of Torcali

Child of Torcali

The Child of Torcali is obtained by completing a multi-stage quest chain that begins with a Direhorn Hatchling in Zuldazar. This quest chain is exclusive to Horde players, but once the mount is learned, it becomes account-wide and can be used by Alliance characters as well.

The journey from hatchling to mount takes approximately three weeks of daily quests. Since the Child of Torcali's progress bar is not a reputation, you cannot speed up the process with reputation buffs or contracts — you must complete each day's quests as they become available. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition if you are willing to commit to the daily routine.

Step 1: Find the Direhorn Hatchling

To begin your journey with the Child of Torcali, travel to the Warbeast Kraal in Zuldazar and look for a tiny Direhorn Hatchling. Speaking to this hatchling will start the quest The Orphaned Hatchling.

Important: If there is no available quest for you at that location (and you are on a Horde character), you may have already completed the first part of the Child of Torcali questline in patches prior to 8.2, which added the continuation. In this case, travel to Warbeast Kraal to see if you can pick up An Unending Sleep there (the patch 8.2 continuation).

Step 2: The Quest Chain — Raising Your Direhorn

By following the straightforward quest chain in the Warbeast Kraal, you will eventually unlock daily quests with your direhorn hatchling. The quest chain unfolds over several stages as the direhorn matures:

  • Hatchling stage: You find and rescue the orphaned hatchling, beginning your bond.
  • Baby direhorn: Daily quests involve feeding, playing, and bonding with your direhorn.
  • Juvenile direhorn: New quests appear as the direhorn grows stronger.
  • Adult direhorn: After about three weeks of daily quests, the direhorn becomes a mount.

Complete the daily quests every day, as well as any other quests offered at different new growing stages. Once your direhorn reaches its last stage, you should be able to start a new quest chain with The Trust You've Earned that soon enough awards the mount.

Extra Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Don't skip daily quests: Your direhorn's progress is time-gated. Missing a day extends the time it takes to get the mount.
  • Check your quest log daily: New quests appear as your direhorn grows. Make sure you complete them as soon as they are available.
  • If you don't see the hatchling: You may have already completed the first part of the questline. Check for An Unending Sleep at Warbeast Kraal instead.
  • The mount is usable by Alliance: Though the quest chain is Horde-only, the mount is account-wide and can be used by Alliance characters once learned.
  • The progress is not reputation: You cannot use reputation buffs to speed up the process. Daily quest completion is the only way to progress.

Useful Addons for Child of Torcali Farming

Tracking daily quests and ensuring you don't miss a day is much easier with a few helpful addons.

  • SavedInstances: Tracks which characters have completed their daily quests for the Child of Torcali, helping you stay organised.
  • TomTom / Paste: Quickly set waypoints to the Direhorn Hatchling and other locations in Zuldazar.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements like auto-repair, auto-sell junk, and faster interactions — small time savers that add up during daily questing.
  • HandyNotes – Battle for Azeroth (plugin): Displays points of interest on your map, helping you navigate Zuldazar more efficiently.

Pro tip: Use SavedInstances to check if you've completed your daily direhorn quests. This saves time and ensures you don't miss a day of progress.
