Augmented Stormray Mount Guide

Updated 06 Jun 2026 | Author: Invord | ~5 min

The Augmented Stormray is a rare Midnight expansion mount that drops from rare enemies inside the mysterious Voidstorm zone. With its arcane-infused appearance and void-charged energy trails, this mount has quickly become one of the most visually striking flying rewards available in the new expansion.

Unlike reputation or vendor mounts, Augmented Stormray is obtained purely through rare farming. Every eligible rare in Voidstorm can potentially drop the mount, making route optimization and multi-character farming the key strategies for success.

  • Added in patch: 12.0.0 "Midnight"
  • Type: Flying
  • Source: Rare mobs in Voidstorm
  • Requirements: Unlock Voidstorm zone
  • Repeat attempts: Daily per character

How to get Augmented Stormray

Augmented Stormray

To obtain the Augmented Stormray, you must defeat rare elite enemies across Voidstorm. Any listed rare mob in the zone has a chance to drop the mount.

Additionally, killing a Rare in Voidstorm grants 50 Reputation with The Singularity. While rares can be defeated daily for loot, reputation is only granted the first time per week per rare.

Don’t want to rely on RNG and endless rare loops? Our Augmented Stormray mount service helps you secure this Midnight rare mount efficiently.

Step 1 - Get to Voidstorm

Before you can begin farming the Augmented Stormray, you must unlock access to Voidstorm. This zone is not available immediately and requires completing a short introductory quest chain.

Travel to Silvermoon City and speak with Magister Umbric. He offers the quest No Fear of the Dark.

No Fear of the Dark

Completing the opening stages of this questline permanently unlocks Voidstorm on that character. Once unlocked, the zone remains fully accessible for rare hunting and farming activities.

  • Start NPC: Magister Umbric
  • Quest: No Fear of the Dark
  • Unlock: Complete first stage of the chain
  • Access: Permanent once unlocked

Do not camp a single rare. Because Voidstorm rares respawn daily, rotating through all possible targets and switching to alternate characters gives you the largest effective number of rolls over time.

Additional Tips for Faster Farming

If Voidstorm feels empty or most rares have already been defeated on your shard, don’t worry — you still have several strong options. One of the most effective strategies is to search for groups across other realms using the Group Finder.

  • Use the Group Finder to look for custom groups farming Voidstorm rares.
  • Joining a group can transfer you to another shard where rares may still be alive.
  • This allows you to defeat the same rare on multiple shards without waiting for respawns.
  • Combine shard hopping with multiple characters to multiply your daily drop attempts.

By combining shard hopping, efficient routing, and alt farming, you significantly increase your total chances of obtaining the Augmented Stormray.

Why Multiple Characters Matter

The mount farm is heavily influenced by the daily rare loot rules. In practice, once your character loots a rare, repeating that kill on the same character usually won’t give you another meaningful roll until reset. That’s why the best collectors don’t farm this mount on one character - they farm it on an alt army.

  • Each character has its own loot lockout for rares.
  • That means you can run the same rare route on multiple characters in a single day.
  • More characters = more rolls = a much higher practical drop rate over time.

If you have several level-cap characters, parking them in Voidstorm and rotating through rare routes is the fastest way to push daily attempts without burning out. Even 3-5 characters makes a noticeable difference.

Useful Addons

Because this mount requires extensive roaming and rare hunting, the best addons are those that help with spawn detection, navigation, and weekly tracking.

  • RareScanner: Detects nearby rare spawns instantly.
  • TomTom: Route navigation via /way coordinates.
  • HandyNotes: Displays rare spawn markers on map.
  • SavedInstances: Tracks rare lockouts across characters.
  • Leatrix Plus: Quality-of-life improvements.
