The Amber Ardenmoth is a stunning, glowing moth whose brilliant orange wings and ethereal presence embody the vibrant, mystical essence of Ardenweald. Its luminous form, delicate wings, and the gentle glow it emits make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a natural, magical aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its unique defence mechanism: "The brilliant orange hue of the amber ardenmoth signals to predators that it is dangerous to eat. Consuming one of these creatures will put a predator into a dreamless sleep for years." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a long-term reputation grind, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your dedication to the Wild Hunt and the protection of Ardenweald's eternal cycle.
Introduced in patch 9.0.1 as part of the Shadowlands expansion, the Amber Ardenmoth is one of the most coveted paragon cache rewards from Ardenweald. Unlike reputation vendor mounts that are simply purchased, this radiant moth is a true test of patience — it can only be obtained through Wild Hunt Supplies caches, which you earn after maxing out your reputation with The Wild Hunt. With each cache offering only a chance at the mount rather than a guarantee, the journey becomes a marathon of consistent daily effort. For collectors who find excitement in the uncertainty and aren't afraid of a long-term commitment, the Amber Ardenmoth represents the perfect balance of dedication and luck.
The Amber Ardenmoth has a chance to drop from Wild Hunt Supplies — the paragon cache awarded every 10,000 reputation after reaching Exalted with The Wild Hunt. This means you must first reach Exalted, then continue earning reputation to receive additional caches, each with a chance to contain the mount.
This is a low drop chance mount, so it may take several caches before the Amber Ardenmoth appears. The mount is Bind-on-Pickup, so it must be looted and learned on the character that obtains it.
Important: This reputation and mount can be gained by any covenant, not just Night Fae. Players from Kyrian, Venthyr, and Necrolord can also earn reputation with The Wild Hunt through Ardenweald world quests and activities.
Before you can begin earning reputation with The Wild Hunt, you must first progress through the Shadowlands campaign. To gain access to Ardenweald, you must complete the linear Shadowlands storyline through all four main zones: Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth. Once you've reached Ardenweald, you can begin earning reputation with The Wild Hunt through various activities.
There are several ways to earn reputation with The Wild Hunt. Below are the most effective methods
Completing the optional storylines in Ardenweald will yield steady gains with The Wild Hunt. Curiously, not all main campaign quests give The Wild Hunt reputation, but the side quests that are not part of the main campaign storyline often do. Unlike many of the other methods, the storylines aren't time-gated, so you can finish them whenever you like.
If the quest sorts under "Quests" rather than "Campaign" in your quest log, it's part of the optional storylines. Not every side quest gives rep, but many Ardenweald optional quests will give you 160 reputation with The Wild Hunt.
Callings and challenges are essentially revamped emissary quests. Each day, players will receive a new calling or challenge from an NPC in their covenant sanctum that sends them to a different Shadowlands zone (including The Maw). Players may have up to three callings active at once, and callings expire after three days.
To complete the calling/challenge, players must do the designated content listed on the calling (world quests, freeing souls, and/or killing elites). Once completed, players will receive 1,500 (callings) or 2,000 reputation (challenges) with the faction that corresponds to the zone of the calling. When a calling sends you to Ardenweald, you'll earn reputation with The Wild Hunt.
World quests are a daily source of reputation in Shadowlands. Each world quest completed awards a baseline of 125 reputation with the faction that corresponds to the zone. Some world quests will also award an additional 175 reputation as a bonus for completing it. To earn reputation with The Wild Hunt, players will need to complete world quests in Ardenweald.
Contract: The Wild Hunt — Contract: The Wild Hunt can be purchased from the Auction House to gain 10 bonus reputation with this faction every time you complete a World Quest in any Shadowlands zone where world quests are available.
Every week, players will be able to complete a total of 2 weekly quests in Oribos for 500 reputation each with a desired faction — or 1,000 reputation in total if both are directed toward The Wild Hunt.
As players complete the initial quests for the Night Fae Covenant Assault, they will receive 125 Wild Hunt reputation per quest. Most notably, completing the Double Dromans intro quest awards an additional 175 reputation as a reward for completion. Upon completion of the Night Fae Covenant Assault, players will receive 1,000 reputation with The Wild Hunt.
Before you can participate in Covenant Assaults, you must secure access to the endgame Shadowlands zone where they're found.
Campaign Requirements:
After this, you can access the Maw at any time via the Soul Pillar in the centre of the Ring of Transference on Oribos's upper level.
Unlocking Covenant Assaults: To participate in assaults, you must progress further into the 9.1 campaign. Complete Chapter 2 of the Chains of Domination questline, starting with "Maw Walker". Afterwards, Bolvar Fordragon in Korthia will offer the breadcrumb quest "A Unified Effort", which unlocks the covenant assault system.
Covenant assaults are bi-weekly events in the Maw. Only one covenant leads the assault at a time, rotating in a fixed order:
You can check which assault is active by opening your Maw map or by visiting the "Today in WoW" section on Wowhead's front page under the Shadowlands category.
Rotation Schedule:
As there are limited ways to earn reputation each day, it is essential to take advantage of reputation buffs whenever possible. Below are the most effective bonuses:
Pro tip: Stack multiple buffs when possible. For example, a Human character during Shadowlands Timewalking with the Darkmoon Faire buff active will earn reputation at an accelerated rate, saving you days of grinding. Save your World Quest completions and turn-ins for these windows.
Once you reach Exalted reputation with The Wild Hunt, every additional 10,000 reputation will reward you with a Wild Hunt Supplies cache. To claim your cache, speak to Aithlyn, who is located in the Heart of the Forest in Ardenweald.
Each Wild Hunt Supplies cache has a small chance to contain the Amber Ardenmoth. If you are unlucky on your first cache, simply continue farming reputation to fill the bar again and try your luck once more.
Farming reputation to Exalted and beyond requires consistency and efficiency. The right addons can help you track your progress, locate world quests, and never miss a daily opportunity.
Pro tip: Use World Quest Tracker to filter only Ardenweald world quests. This saves time and ensures you never miss a daily reputation opportunity.
