Temple of Sethraliss Mythic+ Route Guide

Updated 30 Nov -0001 | Author: Kir | ~10 min

Temple of Sethraliss made its debut during the Battle of Azeroth, and it still pops up in the Mythic+ rotation from time to time. Normal and Heroic versions give you a sense of what's coming, but Mythic+ takes those familiar pulls and turns them into something genuinely threatening. In this guide, we'll cover the most efficient route through the Temple of Sethraliss, along with the trash packs and boss mechanics that you'll need to respect.

Temple of Sethraliss Mythic+ Route Overview

This dungeon throws four boss encounters at your group, with no shortage of trash between them. The timer grants you 33 minutes to finish the run if you want the best rewards, a Keystone upgrade, and a boost to your Mythic+ score. Here's the route that will get you through without unnecessary pain — even in a PUG.

Because this dungeon is packed with trash, we'll mostly focus on what to skip rather than what to pull — let's save you some time:

  1. After entering, head up the right staircase, cutting down enemies as you go.
  2. Kill the pack of 1x Sandswept Hunter, 2x Barbed Krolusk, 1x Storm Adept, and 1x Shrouded Fang, then switch your attention to the bosses.
  3. On the way to the next boss, kill everything. Before engaging the boss, clear out its room completely.
  4. Between the second and fourth bosses, spare no one as well — this way, your enemy forces percentage will hit exactly 100 by the time the last mob falls.

Now that the route is sorted, let's break down the most dangerous enemies you'll face inside.

Adderis and Aspix Trash and Notable Abilities

Unlike a lot of modern dungeons, Temple of Sethraliss doesn't throw any special requirements at you before the first boss — no unlock conditions, no buffs to track down. You just need to clear through the trash on your way to each boss, paying attention to the quirks of each pack.

Trash Abilities
Storm Adept This mob throws Lightning Bolt at a random player — keep an eye out and make sure someone kicks it.
Sandswept Hunter It will channel Arrow Barrage into a random player — shut it down with any CC you have. The Sandburst Arrow ability also drops a circle on the ground; stay out of it.
Barbed Krolusk The Serrated Charge bleed can land on any player. If it lines up with other incoming damage, use a defensive or clear the bleed.
Shrouded Fang These mobs open the fight from stealth, usually hanging around a neutral Rogue Krolusk. If you don't break their stealth, they'll hit someone with Poisoned Cheap Shot — interrupt it or remove the stun with a Poison dispel. Their Slither Strike also adds random target damage, so be ready.
Sandfury Stonefist Immune to crowd control. Ground Pound deals AoE damage and knocks players back. Tanks need to pop a defensive for Sunder Slam, which also applies a damage amp.

Adderis and Aspix Boss Tactics

The first encounter throws you into the fray against two dangerous foes at once. Hopefully, the tips below will help you handle them with a little less sweat on your brow:

  • Pay attention to the Storm Blessed immunity buff — it starts on Aspix and jumps between the bosses whenever one of them hits 40% health.
  • Healers should keep an eye on whoever gets targeted by Gust and be ready to spot heal them.
  • Gale Force draws a line through every player. Spread out so you don't hit each other, but keep in mind the knockback is strong — if you don't have a way to negate it, use the walls to stop yourself. Right after the knockback comes the Thunder and Lightning soak, so the whole group needs to stack back up in melee to split that damage.
  • Tempest Winds marks 2 players with a debuff — those players should step away from the group and drop their puddles somewhere safe.
  • Tanks should be on alert when Adderis picks up the Overload buff — use a defensive if necessary.
  • Once Adderis goes down, Aspix enrages with Frenzie, and Gust, Gale Force, and Tempest Winds all start happening more often. Plan your positioning accordingly.

Merektha Trash and Notable Abilities

After Adderis and Aspix are dead, you'll enter the first gauntlet. The bridge ahead is covered in swirlies — weave between them as you cross.

Trash Abilities
Sand-Sworn Rider Immune to crowd control. Watch for the adds that come from Swarming Krolusks — they apply the same Serrated Charge bleed you saw earlier. Stay near the mob so you can dodge the Scouring Sand frontal without much trouble.
Poisonous Viper Cytotoxin lands on a random player — use a Poison dispel if you have one, or a defensive if not.
Lightning Serpent Tanks need to respect the Serpent's Stormcall buff — use defensives when it's up.
Dutiful Tamer The adds from Swarming Krolusks are the main threat here — they apply the same Serrated Charge bleed as before.
Krolusk Matriarch Immune to crowd control. Stay close to make dodging the Scouring Sand frontal easier. Head Butt hits the tank, but it's not a major concern.
Brood Tender Venom Bolt goes out at a random player — use spare interrupts to stop it.
Faithless Subjugator Addle Mind disorients a random player — interrupt it or remove it with a Curse dispel.

Merektha Boss Tactics

Back in the classic era, attempting this boss without a full Nature Resistance set would have been nothing short of suicide. These days, all you need to do is keep a few key tips from the list below in mind:

  • Lightning Bite hits the tank — have a defensive ready for each cast.
  • Knot of Snakes targets 2 players. Stack in melee so a single AoE CC can wipe them out, then cleave down the Snakes that spawn beneath the boss.
  • If Thunder Spit lands on you, drop the circles near the edge of the arena and use a defensive for the DoT if needed.
  • Healers should brace for the Serpentstorm AoE damage. Everyone else needs to watch their feet so you don't get knocked into puddles.
  • At full energy, the boss summons 3 Toxic Vipers and a Storm Serpent, then Burrow. While underground, it deals constant AoE damage and occasionally charges at players, stunning anyone caught in the path.
  • For the adds, keep interrupts on Poison Spit and dispel DoTs with Poison removals as needed. Tanks should position Storm Serpents near existing puddles or along the room's edge, since they drop one when casting Storm Catalyst.

Galvazzt Trash and Notable Abilities

After Merektha comes the first Loose Spark gauntlet — orbs of lightning that spiral across the room in patterns. You'll need to dodge through them and kill the nearby Spark Channeler to stop more orbs from spawning.

Trash Abilities
Agitated Nimbus Immune to crowd control. Watch the Accumulate Charge stacks — purge them if you can. Release Charge hits hard, especially if the mob has multiple stacks, so be ready with a defensive. Avoid the circles from Call Lightning.
Imbued Stormcaller Dispel Imbued Conduction from players before it expires and stuns them. Keep an interrupt rotation on the random target Lightning Bolt.
Static Anomaly Spread out when fighting these so you don't clip each other with Spark Step. Tanks should expect extra magic damage from the Static Shocks passive.

Galvazzt Boss Tactics

The dungeon's third boss won't have you juggling a dozen different effects and abilities. However, its arsenal does include some one-shot mechanics that you'd be wise to avoid:

  • Lightning Spire spawns in sets of three — a non-tank player should step between the spires and the boss quickly to stop him from gaining energy. Rotate defensives and healing cooldowns through this phase, since the damage is constant and heavy. If the boss hits full energy, he casts Consume Charge, which usually means a wipe.
  • Tanks just need to move the boss around the room, shifting to make spire soaking easier or when Induction leaves a puddle behind.

Avatar of Sethraliss Trash and Notable Abilities

After another Loose Spark gauntlet, you'll reach a large room full of Faithless Conscripts. These mobs aren't worth any count and mostly just hit your tank.

To advance, your group needs to energize the two Eyes of Sethraliss, which opens the skull at the far end of the room. To energize an eye, a player clicks on it, taking ticking damage while the energy bar fills. This also spawns a few new trash mobs.

Trash Abilities
Orb Watcher Immune to crowd control. Venomous Slash hits the tank — be ready with a defensive and watch for the circles it spawns. Healers should prepare for the Caustic Stomp group hit and DoT.
Temple Disruptor Essence Disruption channels into the nearest eye — interrupt or CC to stop it.
Twisted Hexxer Immune to crowd control. Keep an interrupt rotation on the random target Flame Shock. Move the Latent Hex AoE away from the group and avoid the puddle it leaves.
Faithless Tormentor These mobs fixate on a random player, often the healer. Their melee attacks stack Shadowlash, so don't let them sit on one target.

Avatar of Sethraliss Boss Tactics

The dungeon's final boss is a serious threat, though Temple of Sethraliss has already thrown far more complex bosses with far broader kits at you. The strategy for Avatar of Sethraliss is as follows:

  • Focus damage into the Corrupted Guardian. If it targets you with Vile Charge, use a defensive. Tanks should be ready for the Tainted Strike buster. When these mobs die, they deal a 20-yard AoE and leave behind three Corrupted Lifeforce soaks. These need to be grabbed before they explode after 6 seconds in a Corruption Burst. Soaking applies the Corruption debuff, so DPS or a tank with a defensive should prioritise picking them up.
  • Keep interrupts on the Twisted Hexxer's Flame Shock, and if you get the Latent Hex puddle, drop it at the edge of the room.
  • When the Essence Defiler dies, the healer should focus on the Avatar while kiting the waves of Faithless Tormentors that spawn over 30 seconds to avoid Shadowlash stacks. DPS and tanks should CC and AoE them down — each one that reaches the Avatar heals her for 0.7% of her health.

Temple of Sethraliss Bloodlust Usage

To wrap things up, let's talk about when to drop your biggest group cooldown. The truth is, no two runs are identical, and you shouldn't follow this advice like it's set in stone. That said, these timings will serve you well in most situations and can save your group from a lot of unnecessary suffering. The most impactful moments to pop Bloodlust or Heroism in Temple of Sethraliss are:

  1. The first major trash pull right at the start of the dungeon.
  2. The second boss encounter.
  3. The final boss fight intermission.

Hitting your cooldown at these points gives you the burst you need to push through the most dangerous spikes the dungeon has to offer.
