Unlike most mounts that can be farmed weekly or endlessly, Spirit of Eche'ro is only obtainable during a specific Legion Archaeology quest that appears for a short period twice per year. This makes it a priority target for mount collectors who track rotations carefully and plan ahead. When the quest is active, the mount is guaranteed — but only if you finish the grind before the window closes.
Spirit of Eche'ro is obtained by completing the Legion Archaeology quest Laying to Rest. This quest is only available for two weeks at a time and appears roughly once every six months as part of the Legion Archaeology rotation.
When the quest is active, the mount is a guaranteed reward — there is no RNG involved. The challenge comes from the time investment required to gather all materials before the quest expires. If you miss the window, you must wait until the quest rotates back in.
To begin, you need to reach the Legion version of Dalaran. The easiest way is to use the Dalaran Hearthstone toy. Alternatively, you can take the portal to Azsuna from your faction capital and fly southeast to the city.
If you have access to a Druid, this grind becomes noticeably smoother thanks to instant Flight Form, which is extremely helpful while surveying dig sites.
Once in Dalaran, visit the Archaeology trainer Dariness the Learned. If you have not learned Archaeology yet, do so now. She will offer the quest The Right Path.

After accepting The Right Path, you will be directed to Lessah Moonwater in Thunder Totem, Highmountain. She stands on the upper level of the settlement.
Speaking to her unlocks the main quest Laying to Rest, which is the quest that ultimately rewards the Spirit of Eche'ro mount.

To complete Laying to Rest, you must gather 600 Bone Fragment of Eche'ro. These fragments are obtained through Archaeology dig sites in Highmountain.
At any given time, three dig sites will be active. Make sure Archaeology dig sites are visible on your map by enabling them in the map filter options. Dig sites appear as small shovel icons on the map.
Use the Archaeology ability Survey to locate finds within each dig site. The telescope points in the correct direction, while the light color indicates distance. When you are close enough, a glowing shovel appears and you gain the buff Standing On It.
Each find awards between 0 and 5 Bone Fragments. Additionally, hostile Tauren spirits may spawn during digging — defeating them also grants extra fragments. Expect this grind to take approximately 3 to 6 hours, depending on efficiency and competition.
Once you have collected all 600 Bone Fragment of Eche'ro, return to Lessah Moonwater in Thunder Totem and turn in the quest.
Upon completion, you will receive the Spirit of Eche'ro mount. Once learned, the mount is unlocked account-wide permanently.
Spirit of Eche'ro is only available twice per year because Legion Archaeology quests rotate every two weeks from a pool of thirteen quests. If you miss the active window, you must wait until the quest returns in the rotation.
