What to Do Before Season 3 of The War Within

Updated 17 Jul 2025 | Author: Dmitro | ~20 min

As the final sun sets on Season 2, a new dawn prepares to break in World of Warcraft: The War Within. The air crackles with anticipation — Patch 11.2 "Ghosts of K’aresh" is on the horizon, bringing Season 3 and all its promises of fresh adventures. But before you charge headlong into the next chapter, take a moment to relish the twilight of this season. The waning days of Season 2 are a treasure trove of opportunities. Like the calm before a storm, this is the perfect time to tie up loose ends, claim elusive rewards, and ensure you stride into Season 3 with your head held high and your bags full of spoils.

In the rush toward new content, it’s easy to overlook the riches still lying at your feet. Many challenges, mounts, and achievements from Season 2 will become significantly harder — or even impossible — to obtain once Season 3 begins. In this article we'll have a look at all the possible rewards that Season 2 holds for us. And some of them are going to be very useful even in 11.2!

Liberation of Undermine

Big G mount

The Liberation of Undermine raid has been the centerpiece of Season 2’s PvE, and it’s reaching its final encore. Whether you’re a heroic raider or a mythic slayer, now is the time to reap the raid’s remaining rewards.

Many raid achievements and loot drops will become legacy (or much harder to get) once the new raid arrives with Season 3. Gather your guild or find a trusty PuG, and make your last stand in Undermine count!

Raid Renown Rewards: Throughout Season 2, you might have gained renown with Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club — the unique raid faction in Undermine. This renown track goes up to level 20, and it’s worth pushing as high as you can before everyone stops running the raid. Notably, at Renown 8 you receive the Thunderdrum Misfire hovercraft mount (a flashy reward for your loyalty to Gallagio). Higher renown ranks award additional goodies: for example, Renown 17 unlocks the Darkfuse Chompactor mount, and Renown 20 grants the Furious Flarendo mount, among other cosmetics.

“Glory” and Other Raid Achievements: If you love collecting mounts, don’t overlook the Glory of the Liberation of Undermine Raider meta-achievement. It involves doing quirky boss achievements throughout the Liberation of Undermine raid. Finish them all, and you’ll earn the Junkmaestro’s Magnetomech – a delightfully jerry-rigged spider tank mount. It’s not tied to the season schedule (Glory achievements remain available indefinitely), but practically speaking, it’s much easier to complete while the raid is current and players are active. Form a group of achievement hunters now, and knock it out. You’ll get a cool mount and bragging rights for mastering every raid mechanic (even the most ridiculous ones).

Ahead of the Curve: If you haven’t already, defeat Chrome King Gallywix on Heroic difficulty to earn the Ahead of the Curve Feat of Strength. This achievement has no mount reward attached, but it’s a coveted badge that proves you cleared the current raid tier when it was relevant. In future groups, flashing your AotC can mean the difference between an invite or a decline. Plus, nothing beats the satisfaction of felling Gallywix and hearing that achievement toast one last time. (Tip: Gallywix has turned out to be more forgiving than previous end bosses – with perseverance and a bit of gear from the recent item level boosts, you might find Heroic more approachable than expected).

Cutting Edge: For the truly bold, Mythic Gallywix awaits. Taking him down grants the prestigious Cutting Edge: Chrome King Gallywix achievement, broadcasting to all that you conquered the toughest content of Season 2. More tangibly, Mythic Gallywix is your ticket to two unique mounts. First, Prototype A.S.M.R. (better known as Rik Reverb’s mount) can drop on any difficulty, but it’s exceedingly rare. Second, the big prize: Keys to the Big G, which is literally Gallywix’s gilded mech-suit. This mount is currently a guaranteed drop for three players each time you kill Gallywix on Mythic, so long as they don’t already have it. In other words, almost everyone in a Mythic kill will walk away with the Big G mount. After Season 2, however, that guarantee is gone – the mech mount will become a super rare drop (if it drops at all). If you can manage a Mythic clear (or buy a run), do it now while the getting’s good. These mounts will become the mark of a bygone era, much harder to obtain in the future.

Big G mount is truly unique and awesome, although still VERY hard to get. But not with the help of our PRO raiders.

Mythic+

Enterprising Shreddertank

Mythic+ has been the proving grounds of WoW for years already, and the clock is ticking to conquer those Season 2 keystones. With the dungeon roster about to rotate and Mythic+ ratings resetting, now is the moment for one final push.

The effort is well worth it: exclusive mounts, titles, and teleports await those who master Season 2’s dungeons. These rewards are badges of honor you won’t be able to earn once Season 3 begins, so rally your party and dive into the challenge while you still can!

Push for Keystone Achievements: Aim for the highest Mythic+ rating you can achieve. At 2000 rating, you unlock Keystone Master: Season 2 and earn the Crimson Shreddertank mount as a trophy of your accomplishment. Even more prestigious, reaching 3000 rating grants Keystone Legend: Season 2 and awards the Enterprising Shreddertank mount — a shiny chrome variant that only the elite will ride after this season, marking you as a true Mythic+ veteran.

Complete Dungeon Teleports: Don’t leave those Keystone Hero dungeon teleports on the table. By finishing each Season 2 dungeon at Mythic +10 (within the time limit), you earn instant teleport access to that dungeon. These convenience rewards will no longer be obtainable once those dungeons leave the rotation (but they may come back later in WoW with you already having teleportation to the dungeon entrances).

Feats of Strength – Master Blaster & Dressed to the Mines: Blizzard has hidden a couple of unique Feats of Strength in this season’s Mythic+ content. "The War Within Season 2: Master Blaster" (affectionately nicknamed Master of Explosions) rewards a Essence of Kaja’mite — an item that grants you an extra charge of the Dawn of the Infinite upgrade catalyst (handy for quickly converting gear to tier pieces). To get this, you need to complete Keystone Master (or the PvP equivalent) before the season ends. Meanwhile, Dressed to the Mines requires attaining Keystone Hero and rewards Galagio Highroller’s Boomstone — a flashy cosmetic that adds special visual effects to your Season 2 class tier armor. This is your permanent style and utility to your collection and won’t be obtainable in Season 3.

Jack of All Trades: For the overachievers, there’s one more meta‑achievement to consider. Enterprising Dungeon Master tasks you with completing all Season 2 Mythic+ dungeons at +10 or higher in all three roles (tank, healer, and DPS). Doing so grants an awesome title "Triple Threat" to show off your versatile prowess. It’s a daunting challenge, but if you have a stable of alts and some time, it’s a title that very few will have going forward.

Grab Wick’s Lead: To learn how to summon the Wick mount. It has a low chance to drop from The Darkness (final boss) or from the Challenger’s Cache at the end of Darkflame Cleft on base Mythic and Mythic+ difficulties. Once Season 3 rotates the dungeon pool, Darkflame Cleft will be inaccessible in those modes, so this farm disappears until (of if ever) the instance returns to Mythic+.

Whether you're chasing 1 particular reward like Enterprising Shreddertank or want to complete as much as you can in Mythic+ before Season 2 ends, our PROs can help you make it happen fast and easy.

Delves

Delver’s Gob-Trotter

Delves are the unique solo content introduced in The War Within, and Season 2’s Delve adventures are about to roll into a new phase. The current Delves (including the Underpin scenario and Overcharged Delves) have a host of rewards tied to Season 2 that you should wrap up now. From leveling your companion to earning mount customizations, there’s plenty to do in the depths of Dornogal.

Finishing these tasks will not only net you exclusive Season 2 rewards, but also set you up nicely for the challenges coming in Season 3’s Delves:

Conquer Overcharged Delves: Season 2 introduced Overcharged Delves — extra‑hard versions of delves with special modifiers and a progression tree. If you haven’t delved into this (pun intended), know that there are two big rewards tied to it. By unlocking all 17 talents on the Overcharged Titan Console, you complete the achievement “Titanic Overload” which awards the OC91 Chariot mount. This mount is a funky mechastrider‑like vehicle and currently it’s only obtainable via this achievement. The second reward comes from doing 4 Overcharged Delve runs (any of them): that feat grants the Redeployment Module toy, which lets you… well, relocate in a flashy way. In short, if you’re able, try to knock out the Overcharged achievements now. Even if you can’t clear the highest Overcharged tiers, doing a handful of runs for the toy and making progress on the talent tree for the mount will save you a grind (or fortune) in Season 3.

Upgrade the Infinite Safety Belt: One of Season 2’s prized pieces of gear is an unassuming belt with a very long name: the Durable Information Securing Container. This belt, obtained and upgraded through Overcharged Delves content, can be powered up to item level 701 — and it’s an absolute powerhouse for many classes. It provides special effects and high stats that will likely carry you well into early Season 3. Make sure you’ve earned and upgraded this belt to max level (using components from Overcharged runs) before the season ends. It’s expected to be nerfed or outclassed eventually, but early in Season 3 it will give you a serious edge (and saving yourself a gear slot to upgrade is nothing to sneeze at).

Level Up Brann Bronzebeard: Good old Brann is your NPC companion in Delves, gaining experience and levels as you complete runs. The current cap for Brann’s level is 80, and you should try to get him to 80 before Patch 11.2. In Season 3, Brann will gain additional levels beyond 80, but having him already maxed for Season 2 means you’ll start the new season with an advantage (and possibly unlock new perks immediately). Don’t leave our adventurous dwarf friend under‑leveled — he deserves the Season 2 send‑off of hitting 80, and you deserve the stronger ally for next season’s Delves.

Best The Underpin: Deep in the Underpin lies a fearsome foe nicknamed The Underpin – a special encounter that has been the bane of many delvers. Make sure to defeat the The Underpin at least once before Season 3, because he comes with a suite of unique rewards. The first kill of the The Underpin grants a quest from Brann Bronzebeard which rewards Brann’s Spare Hat, a cosmetic bowler hat so stylish even a goblin would be jealous. There’s also an achievement for killing the boss that awards the Golden-Gob Propulsion Rig cloak – a flashy jetpack-esque back piece. But the ultimate challenge is soloing the The Underpin on the highest difficulty (a feat only the most geared and skilled can do). That “Let Me Solo Him: The Underpin” achievement will reward you with a golden coloration for your Delver’s Gob-Trotter mount (depicted above). If you’re up for it, give the solo challenge a try – it’s one of those Feats of Strength that will stand out on your achievement list. If not, at least rally a group and get the basic rewards from taking The Underpin down in a team. This content (and the associated cosmetics) won’t be around in the same form later, so seize the opportunity now.

High Explorer Title: Lastly, serious Delvers should attempt the "War Within Delves: Tier X" achievements, which require completing Delve tiers 4, 5, 6… up to 11 with at least one life remaining. Each tier has its own Feat of Strength. If you manage all the way through tier 11 (the toughest), you earn the epithet "High Explorer".

There's so much cool stuff to get from Delves in Season 2. We can do it all.

Season 2 PvP

Season 2 Felbat

Season 2’s PvP chapter is also closing, and with it go a plethora of hard-fought rewards. PvP seasons in WoW are all-or-nothing affairs – when one ends, its titles and cosmetics are sealed away in the vault, often never to return.

Whether you’re a casual battleground hero or an arena gladiator, use these final days to secure whatever rewards are within reach. Even a small rating push now can mean exclusive transmogs or mounts that set you apart in the future:

Vicious Saddle Mount: Season 2’s "Vicious" mount is the Vicious Electro Eel – a shocking electric eel you can ride into battle (one for Alliance, one for Horde, both essentially the same sizzling serpent). To get it, you need to fill your Season Rewards bar in rated PvP (which requires a number of wins at Combatant rating or above). If you haven’t filled that bar yet, rally your arena partners or Rated Battleground team and grind out those wins! Keep in mind when Season 2 ends, the Electro Eel goes away.

Gladiator Title & Felbat: For the hardcore PvPers, Gladiator is the ultimate prize. If you can reach 2400+ rating in 3v3 arenas and notch 50 wins at that rank, you’ll earn the Gladiator: Season 2 achievement and with it the "Gladiator" title plus the fearsome Prized Gladiator’s Felbat mount. The Felbat is a corrupted, fel‑green bat creature that absolutely screams "I’m a big deal in PvP". It’s only obtainable by Gladiators and only during this season. Similarly, the top 0.1% of the arena ladder will get a permanent “Prized Gladiator” title when the dust settles – an honor reserved for the best of the best. If you’re close to Gladiator or within reach of that elite cutoff, now is the time to give it everything you’ve got. These rewards are prestigious for a reason; when Season 3 launches, all Gladiator hopefuls start from scratch, and the Felbats of Season 2 will become a sight seldom seen.

Solo Shuffle and Blitz: Rated PvP isn’t just 2v2/3v3 arenas – Blizzard has added other modes with their own exclusive rewards. Solo Shuffle will grant the "Legend" title for Season 2 to players who win 100 rounds at Elite rank, plus a Prized Legend’s Pennant toy (a flag you can plant to show off). Likewise, Battleground Blitz awards the "Strategist" title to those who win 25 games at Elite rank. These titles last only for the season, but they’re great feather‑in‑cap achievements to snag this patch. If you’re a few wins shy of Legend or Strategist, queue up and finish the job. After all, every aspect of Season 2 PvP is going away – better to have an extra limited title for your collection than to wonder "what if" later on.

Spend Those PvP Currencies: Before Patch 11.2 hits, make sure to spend all your PvP points. Conquest is the seasonal currency that will reset, so use it or lose it. Buy extra gear pieces (even for alternate specs or alts), or pick up War Chests from vendors like Lalathin for a random piece of prize loot – even if you don’t need the gear, you can disenchant or sell it. The same goes for Bloody Tokens from world PvP; spend them on anything from PvP trinkets to those token‑only cosmetics. Any remaining Conquest or Tokens will be converted to mere silver coins after the season, so get some value out of them now (even if it’s purchasing gear to scrap for gold).

Limited-Time Events

Limited-Time Events to Complete

End-of-season in WoW isn’t just about dungeons and raids – there are also time-limited events that coincide with the lead-up to a new season. Patch 11.2 brings (and ends) a couple of special events that you should be sure to participate in. They offer unique rewards, from mounts to transmog, that you won’t want to miss. Here are the key events to wrap up before Season 3 launches:

Turbulent Timeways III: Running from June 17 to August 5 (right up until the patch day), Turbulent Timeways is a six-week extravaganza of Timewalking goodness. Each week highlights a different past expansion’s dungeons (for the first time ever, this edition includes Battle for Azeroth Timewalking), and completing five Timewalking dungeons in a given week awards a hefty bonus reward. If you manage to complete Timewalking during five out of the six weeks of the event, you’ll earn the meta-achievement and be granted the Chrono Corsair mount. The Chrono Corsair is a time-twisted pirate dragon (because of course it is – what else would a time corsair be?) and is exclusive to this event.

Greedy Emissary Event: Sanctuary’s influence has bled into Azeroth once again! The Greedy Emissary 2025 event is a Diablo-themed crossover where Treasure Goblins spawn in various zones, just begging to be slain for loot. If you haven’t done it yet, take part in this event to scoop up some truly unique rewards. The event has been running as a send-off for Season 2 and will end on August 1st. So grab a friend (or five), hunt down those Treasure Goblins (they tend to appear near capital cities and other hotspots), and claim your goodies. Before that make sure you read our Greedy Emissary Guide with all the tricks and event's rewards.

Collector’s Bounty Event: While Greedy Emissary is running, Azeroth’s old bosses burst with loot. From July 1 to 29, the global Collector’s Bounty buff super‑charges all pre‑Dragonflight raids and dungeons — mount drop rates can spike up to ten times, and transmog pieces drop at roughly double odds. The buff is warband‑wide and lasts through death, so any alt you bring shares the same lucky tables. No quest needed: just zone in, clear the instance, and watch the loot rain. If you’ve been postponing mount or mog hunts, this is the moment as once July 29 hits, drop chances snap back to normal. Get to know everything about Collector’s Bounty and Mounts that participate in the event.

Shaohao’s Sage Serpent (MoP Classic): One of the more unexpected opportunities coinciding with Patch 11.2 is tied to WoW Classic. Blizzard is soon launching Mists of Pandaria Classic, and to celebrate, there’s a promotion that can net retail players a beautiful mount. The mount is Shaohao’s Sage Serpent, a jade-green cloud serpent that is usually associated with the legendary Emperor Shaohao. To obtain it, you’ll need to participate in a special event or task on the Classic side – specifically, it’s linked to the Wandering Isle (Pandaren starting zone) in MoP Classic. Without going into spoiler territory: if you complete the introductory scenario for Pandaren during the promotional period, you’ll unlock Shaohao’s Sage Serpent on your modern WoW account. If you have Classic installed (it’s free if you have a WoW sub btw), it’s well worth the brief journey to snag an otherwise unobtainable serpent mount!

Prepare Your Alts

Alts before 11.2

While you’re busy squeezing every last drop of content from Season 2, don’t forget to prepare your alternate characters for the future. A new season is a fresh start for everyone, which makes it an ideal time to have multiple characters ready – you never know which class might shine in the new meta, or what roles your guild might need. Thankfully, the pre-patch period offers fantastic opportunities to level and gear your alts with maximum efficiency. Here’s how to get your roster of heroes prepped for Season 3:

Fast‑Track Your Alt Leveling: During Turbulent Timeways, every Timewalking dungeon completion grants the account‑wide "Knowledge of the Timeways" buff — an initial +5% XP from kills and quests that stacks and refreshes with each Timewalking run. After four stacks it upgrades to "Mastery of the Timeways", delivering a hefty +30% XP boost that persists through death, so you never lose momentum. Queue Timewalking dungeons or knock out regular quests while the buff is active; pair it with heirlooms or XP potions and you’ll rocket from 1 to 80 in record time. The effect lasts right up to patch day, so there’s no time to waste: finish leveling alts you want ready for Season 3 now. A diverse roster means you can sample the new dungeon rotation as tank or healer, or keep a backup ranged DPS on hand for raid night.

Sometimes you can feel lazy leveling alts even with 30% exp buffs. We can help.

Fast Gearing Before 11.2

New blades yearn for battles yet uncharted, and fresh cloth longs to taste the wind of speed. In The War Within’s waning Season 2, Azeroth showers latecomers with tokens, dinars, and time‑bent treasures. With a handful of runs and a spark or two, yesterday’s alt becomes tomorrow’s hero — armored, empowered, ready to greet Season 3’s dawn:

Time‑Walking Loot: Once your alts ding 80, pump their item level so they can hit Season 3 running. Max‑level Time‑Walking dungeons now hand out ilvl 567 Explorer gear and (what's more important) a pile of Timewarped Badges; every event vendor sells 623‑645 ilvl catch up tokens you can unwrap for any slot. Don’t stop at badges: the Nightfall outdoor scenario in Hallowfall awards a Champion‑track token from its weekly quest and showers participants with extra Veteran/Champion drops — an easy bump for freshly‑leveled alts!

Running Delves pays, too: farm Undercoins and buy 623 Warbound pieces from Sir Finley in Dornogal, then upgrade them with crests later. If you’re swimming in Valorstones, grab the 636 ilvl equipment chest at the Valor vendor (mail it to any alt). Raid once and pick up Puzzling Cartel Chip as three chips buy a 649‑658 weapon or trinket straight from the Liberation of Undermine vendor.

Crafting: Two quality 5 crafted items made with Spark of Fortunes + Enchanted Crests can land around 675 ilvl, plugging stubborn gaps while you wait for S3 drops. Finally, open the Matrix Catalyst in Dornogal: every character started Season 2 with one Essence of Kaja’mite charge (and earns another every two weeks, plus one from the Master Blaster feat), so convert any Veteran‑plus piece into a tier slot for a free power spike — and remember charges go free in 11.2, but you still need the gear first.

Shoot for roughly 630‑640 ilvl: that’s enough to immediately stride into Mythic 0s, tag new world‑bosses, and comfortably farm Season 3 content on day one instead of waiting to be carried by already geared people.

Conclusion

The lead-up to Season 3 of The War Within is a whirlwind of activity, but it’s also a time of excitement. By completing these tasks, you’re not only preserving the memories and rewards of Season 2 – you’re also paving the way for an epic Season 3 launch. Picture yourself a week from now: riding into the new Manaforge Omega raid on the back of a mount that others wish they hadn’t missed, sporting a title that marks you as a proven hero of the last season, with a stash of resources and fully prepared alts at your command. That’s the payoff for your hard work now. As the saying goes, fortune favors the prepared.

If you find yourself short on time or needing a bit of help to achieve any of these last-minute goals, remember that you don’t have to go it alone.
