Ruby Life Pools Mythic+ Route Guide

Updated 30 Nov -0001 | Author: Kir | ~10 min

Ruby Life Pools arrived with Dragonflight, and it still shows up in the Mythic+ rotation from time to time. Normal and Heroic give you a taste of what's ahead, but Mythic+ pushes those same pulls into genuinely dangerous territory. Below, we'll cover the most efficient route through Ruby Life Pools, along with the trash packs and boss mechanics that you'll need to respect if you want to time your key.

Ruby Life Pools Mythic+ Route Overview

This dungeon features three boss encounters, with a significant amount of trash packed in between. The timer sits at 28 minutes if you want the best rewards, a Keystone upgrade, and a healthy bump to your Mythic+ score. Here's the route that will carry you through without unnecessary pain — even if you're running with a PUG.

Since this dungeon is absolutely loaded with trash, we'll focus mostly on what to avoid rather than what to pull — let's save you some precious time:

  1. At the start of the dungeon, there are three packs that deserve your attention: the first with 1x Primal Juggernaut, 4x Deepstone Earthshaper, 2x Earthbound Guardian, and 1x Flashfrost Chillweaver; the second with 1x Primal Juggernaut, 1x Deepstone Earthshaper, 3x Earthbound Guardian, and 1x Flashfrost Chillweaver; and the third with 1x Deepstone Earthshaper, 2x Flashfrost Chillweaver, 3x Infused Whelp, and 1x Defier Draghar. The remaining packs on the left and right sides of the corridor are best left alone.
  2. After that, switch your focus to the pack of 2x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Blazebound Destroyer, and 2x Ashseer Flamelasher in the next corridor.
  3. Next up is the pack of 1x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Blazebound Destroyer, and 1x Ashseer Flamelasher.
  4. Then, head for the pack of 1x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Ashseer Flamelasher, and 1x Flamegullet.
  5. Following that, the pack of 2x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Blazebound Destroyer, and 2x Ashseer Flamelasher is next on the menu.
  6. Cap off the zone's clear with the pack of 2x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Blazebound Destroyer, and 2x Ashseer Flamelasher, then move on to the boss.
  7. On your way to the third and final boss encounter, kill every single mob in sight, then dive into the fight against Erkhart Stormvein and Kyrakka.

Now that the route is laid out, let's dig into the most dangerous enemies waiting for you inside.

Melidrussa Chillworn Trash and Notable Abilities

The dungeon's first zone is packed with packs you'd be better off skipping to save precious time on your Ruby Life Pools run. Among the enemies worth keeping in mind, the following stand out.

Trash Abilities
Primal Juggernaut Cannot be crowd controlled. Excavating Blast deals group-wide damage and leaves circles on the ground — don't stand in them. Crushing Smash is a tank hit — pop a defensive if you need to.
Deepstone Earthshaper Tanks need to keep an eye on the stacking debuff from the Tectonic Strike passive.
Earthbound Guardian Earthbound's Imprint lands on a random player — healers should prioritise those targets, and anyone debuffed should use a defensive when other damage overlaps.
Flashfrost Chillweaver Ice Shield buffs a random enemy — kick the cast or CC the mob to stop it. Frostbolt flies at the tank — throw spare interrupts at it.
Infused Whelp These mobs stack Cold Claws on the tank. Clear it with a dispel or freedom effect before it reaches 20 stacks.
Defier Draghar Cannot be crowd controlled. Steel Barrage channels into the tank — use a defensive, be ready to heal the AoE damage it deals, and dodge the swirlies it creates. Blazing Rush targets a random player — bait it toward a wall and step out of the line.

Melidrussa Chillworn Boss Tactics

The first boss is unlikely to catch you off guard, but a few of its abilities are still worth keeping in the back of your mind:

  • Maintain interrupts on Frigid Shard to keep tank damage under control.
  • Stack together to bait the ice from Hailburst into a single spot, then rotate around the room as the floor fills with hazards.
  • If you're marked by Chillstorm, take it away from the group and fight the pull-in effect it creates. Use healing or defensive cooldowns to survive the damage while you're out there.
  • At 66% and 33% health, the boss casts Awaken Whelps, spawning several Infused Whelps that tanks need to grab. She then shields herself with Ice Bulwark and channels Frost Overload until the shield is broken. Save damage cooldowns for this window if you can, so you can burn the shield and stop the group damage as fast as possible.

Kokia Blazehoof Trash and Notable Abilities

The dungeon's second zone is a bit less densely packed with enemies — though there are still some you'll want to avoid according to the route. The particularly dangerous foes are gathered in the table below.

Trash Abilities
Primalist Cinderweaver Cinderbolt targets a random player — interrupt it whenever possible. The Living Bomb AoE can hit nearby allies — use a defensive if it lands on you and try not to cleave your group.
Ashseer Flamelasher Flaming Barrage channels into the tank — break it with a CC to stop the damage. When this mob dies, Blaze of Glory goes off — dodge the swirlies or purge the cast to cancel it.
Blazebound Destroyer Cannot be crowd controlled. Inferno hits the entire party — use a defensive and heal through the DoT it leaves behind. Fiery Blast is aimed at the tank — kick it if you have a spare interrupt. On death, Burnout creates a 20-yard explosion — get out before the cast finishes.
Flamegullet Cannot be crowd controlled. Flame Breath fires a frontal at a random player — step out of the cone if it's aimed at you. Fire Maw hits the tank — use a defensive if needed. Once the mob drops below 50% health, it gains stacks of Molten Blood, which ramps up party-wide damage. Save offensive and defensive cooldowns for this moment.

Beyond these mobs, there are 2 Lieutenants in the area that I strongly recommend skipping:

Trash Abilities
Thunderhead Cannot be crowd controlled. Storm Breath is a frontal cone aimed at a random player — if you're the target, sidestep out of the line immediately. Thunder Jaw hits the tank hard and comes with a hefty knockback, so be ready with a defensive and watch your positioning. Rolling Thunder marks 2 random players with a debuff; when it's dispelled, the whole group takes DoT damage. Space out your dispels so your healer can keep up with the incoming damage.
Ruinous Stormbringer Cannot be crowd controlled. Storm Bolt flies at a random player — kick it if you can. Lightning Rod marks a random player with a debuff — use a defensive if you're the one targeted. Keep an eye on your surroundings, because once the mob hits 100 energy, it unleashes Thunderstorm, which deals party-wide damage and knocks everyone back.

Kokia Blazehoof Boss Tactics

The second boss is hardly going to put up a serious fight either — it's no accident this dungeon is considered one of the easiest in the seasonal pool, if not the easiest of them all. Here's a bit of strategy to make the fight even smoother for you:

  • If Ritual of Blazebinding targets you, move to a spot where you won't cleave your allies — the hit spawns a Blazebound Firestorm add that your group needs to focus down right away.
  • Healers should be ready for the Inferno cast that the add does. Tanks and DPS need to keep interrupts on Blaze Volley.
  • Watch for Molten Boulder and try to bait the projectiles away from your path. Just remember — they detonate when they hit terrain.
  • Tanks should have a defensive prepared for every Searing Blows cast.

Kyrakka and Erkhart Stormvein Trash and Notable Abilities

In the dungeon's final zone, every single enemy is a threat — and there's no skipping any of them.

Trash Abilities
Storm Warrior These mobs occasionally deal an AoE hit thanks to the Thunder Stomper passive.
Primal Thundercloud Stormcloud Barrier shields the mob — purge it to trigger Stormcloud Detonation. Stormcloud Detonation targets a random player and destroys the mob in the process. Be careful if several thunderclouds lose their shields at once — the damage can spike.
Tempest Channeler Cannot be crowd controlled. Thunder Blast hits the tank — use spare interrupts on this. If Lightning Torrent is channelling into you, pop a defensive. Its Summon Primal Thunderclouds ability brings one additional thundercloud into the fight.
High Channeler Ryvati Cannot be crowd controlled. If Lightning Torrent lands on you, use a defensive. Destroy the Tempest Stormshield before it expires, or it deals AoE damage. Its Summon Primal Thunderclouds ability brings four additional thunderclouds into the fight.

Kyrakka and Erkhart Stormvein Boss Tactics

The final boss encounter in Ruby Life Pools throws you into a fight against two enemies at once, so the tactics are understandably a fair bit more complex:

  • During phase one, Kyrakka circles the room, using Inferno Spit on 2 players. If you're marked, move away from the group and drop the fire puddles somewhere out of the way. She'll also occasionally land near a random player and aim Roaring Flamebreath at them — sidestep the frontal if it's on you.
  • Erkhart remains on the ground and uses Stormslam on the tank. Healers need to dispel the tank before the next cast, since this leaves a Magic debuff that increases damage taken. He also periodically uses Interrupting Cloudburst — watch for the cast and stop casting before it goes off.
  • Keep track of the Winds of Change direction. This mechanic pushes players and also moves Inferno Spit puddles. The winds always start by blowing North-West toward the balcony, then shift South-West, South-East, and finally North-East before the cycle repeats. If you know the next direction, you can position your Inferno Spit puddles so they get pushed away from the group.
  • Phase 2 starts after either boss reaches 50% health. Erkhart mounts Kyrakka, and her Inferno Spit now hits 3 players until the fight ends. I recommend saving damage, healing, and defensives if you can to power through this final stretch.

Ruby Life Pools Bloodlust Usage

To wrap things up, let's talk about when to drop your biggest group cooldown. The truth is, no two runs are identical, and you shouldn't follow this advice like it's set in stone. That said, these timings will serve you well in most situations and can save your group from a lot of unnecessary suffering. The most impactful moments to pop Bloodlust or Heroism in Ruby Life Pools are:

  1. The first major trash pull right at the start of the dungeon.
  2. The packs with 1x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Ashseer Flamelasher, and 1x Flamegullet, plus the pack with 2x Primalist Cinderweaver, 1x Blazebound Destroyer, and 2x Ashseer Flamelasher before the second boss encounter. Alternatively, you can hold it for the second boss itself.
  3. The final boss fight.

Hitting your cooldown at these points gives you the burst you need to push through the most dangerous spikes the dungeon has to offer.

Good luck completing the seasonal dungeons, conqueror! And don't miss our Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Overview.
