Since its introduction in the Legion expansion, the Mythic+ mode has been fairly demanding and, at times, even brutal toward players. This stems both from its scaling difficulty with each keystone level and its unwillingness to forgive mistakes, pitting players against a strict timer and shaving additional time off it for every death in the group. However, The War Within expansion and the subsequent Midnight have made life a little easier for players with the Resilient Keystone achievement, which allows keystones to be saved from depletion. In this guide, we'll break down all the key features of Resilient Keystone and the requirements to earn this achievement.
Resilient Keystone is a series of achievements that starts rewarding players at Keystone +12 for completing all seasonal dungeons within the time limit. Once a player clears each of the 8 dungeons before the timer runs out, they earn the corresponding achievement and a unique reward: protection for keystones of that level from being depleted.
That means that by timing all dungeons at +12, you guarantee that all future keystones cannot be depleted below +12, allowing you to run those dungeons without fear and without glancing at the timer. However, keep in mind that this effect only lasts for the duration of the season — in the next season, you'll need to earn the achievement all over again.

Players welcomed the new Resilient Keystone and Anti-Deplete System with open arms. In fact, they had been waiting for it practically since the mode's inception, as soon as the community realized just how harshly Mythic+ could punish players for the slightest mistake. Let's take a closer look at how this new series of achievements impacts the current Mythic+ progression.
First and foremost, Resilient Keystone allows you to "lock in" at a keystone level that offers the most valuable rewards. The +12 level is precisely what lets you obtain gear of the highest quality and the maximum amount of Crests for upgrading equipment. Once you've secured Resilient Keystone, you'll have access to the full range of Mythic+ rewards for the remainder of the season (to learn more about all possible dungeon rewards, check out our dedicated Mythic+ Rewards guide).
If you're interested in pushing high keys not for gear or Crests, but for the most challenging achievements like Keystone Myth or Umbral Champion, Resilient Keystone can be extremely useful as well:
Resilient Keystone essentially serves as a checkpoint on your journey toward a high Mythic+ Rating Score. Granted, the system doesn't provide any direct bonuses to your score, but it makes the process of mastering high keys significantly smoother.
The main obstacle for many Mythic+ enthusiasts is PUGs. Sure, running high keys is best done with a dedicated group, but not every player has that option. And this is precisely where the Resilient Keystone achievements become a real lifesaver.
The Resilient Keystone effect on your key insulates you from all the issues and uncertainty that loom over you whenever you put together a PUG group. Even if the run falls apart, you won't lose your keystone level — that's a little less negativity to deal with. In the past, people were hesitant to pick up random players partly because of the risk of depleting their key; now that problem is solved. PUGs can still cost you some Mythic+ Score, but at the very least they won't strip you of a comfortable keystone level.
We hope that after reading our Resilient Keystone guide, the Mythic+ mode feels a little less intimidating. Best of luck in your conquests, and be sure to come back for more info on World of Warcraft and other games!
