The Magmashell is a massive lava-infused snail mount introduced in Dragonflight. Covered in hardened magma plates and glowing with intense heat, this mount stands out as one of the most visually striking snail mounts in the game, perfectly fitting volcanic and elemental-themed collections.
Unlike many mounts that rely on repeated farming or RNG-heavy drops, Magmashell is a guaranteed reward. The challenge lies not in luck, but in preparation and execution - players must obtain a specific item and survive a dangerous interaction deep within a pool of molten lava.
The Magmashell mount is obtained by using an Empty Magma Shell on the Empowered Snail located in the Waking Shores. Successfully completing the interaction awards the mount instantly.
The process consists of two main parts: first, acquiring the Empty Magma Shell, and second, surviving a dangerous 20-second channel inside a lava pool.
The Empty Magma Shell can be purchased directly from the Auction House. This is the fastest option if you want to skip farming.
If you prefer to farm it yourself, the item has a low drop chance from Lavaslurper snail mobs found south of the Obsidian Citadel, near Dragonbane Keep.

Both Lavaslurpers and Basalt Shells in this area have a chance to drop the Empty Magma Shell, so clearing the area thoroughly increases your odds.
Once you have the Empty Magma Shell, head to the Scalecracker Peaks, slightly east of Scalecracker Keep in the Waking Shores.

Important: Be extremely careful while flying near the Obsidian Citadel and Dragonbane Keep. If you reach 10 stacks of the In Their Sights debuff, you will be forcibly dismounted.
The Empowered Snail is located at the bottom of a bubbling lava pool and can be difficult to spot. A useful trick is to type /tar Empowered Snail and place a raid marker on it to keep track of its position.
If the snail is not present, don’t worry - it respawns roughly every 25–30 minutes. You can also use the Group Finder to hop shards and find one that is already active.
To obtain the mount, you must jump into the lava pool, interact with the Empowered Snail, and complete a 20-second channel. The lava deals heavy damage, and many abilities cannot be used during the channel, making preparation essential.
