Corrosive Coin is the currency of the Vaults of Atal'Utek, the cavern complex under the Coiled Isle where Patch 12.1 parks its outdoor group content. Everything down there pays in it: the public events, the daily and weekly quests, the treasure spawns, and the enemies themselves. It is warbound and uncapped. There is no weekly earn limit either, so a good afternoon in the Vaults is worth exactly as much as you make it.
Two sinks compete for the pile. Er'inye trades coin for Spirit Corrosion points at the Altar of Corrosion, which runs 115,000 across the fifteen points she sells, and working down that tree raises the coin you find everywhere in the zone. The Skull of Er'inye stands next to her selling a flying mount, two pets, five appearance sets and a wall of housing decor, and buying every line she stocks costs 103,250. Spend on the Altar first; the multiplier pays for the cosmetics.
The Vaults run one connected loop called Temple Assaults, and it has four rungs. Patrols are the floor, strikes sit above them, incursions replace the strike on a timer, and an Ancient Foe wakes the moment an incursion is cleared. Each rung pays a bigger bag than the one below it. The chain repeats all day.
| Activity | Reward Bag | Corrosive Coin | Also Inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temple Patrol | Handful of Corrosive Coins | 20 | A small amount of gold |
| Temple Strike | Corroded Pouch | 75 | 5 Veteran Mistcrest, a chance at Voidlight Marl or Veteran-track gear |
| Temple Incursion | Corroded Satchel | 175 | 10 Veteran Mistcrest and better gear odds |
| Ancient Foe | Venom-Drenched Sack | 200 | 10 Champion Mistcrest and a Veteran piece |
| Vault daily (eight of them) | Quest turn-in | 200 | Coffer Key Shards, Voidlight Marl, an Ossified Relic |
| Purging the Vaults (weekly) | Quest turn-in | 1,500 | A Corrosive Soul, a Venom-Cursed Fragment, Coffer Key Shards |
A patrol is one small objective: burn six corpses, free six prisoners, siphon venom off a totem. It pays 20 coin and gold. Three patrols are live at any moment and the set refreshes every ten minutes, which puts the floor at 60 coin per cycle before a single mob drop lands on top.
Twelve patrol types exist and five sit in the rotation at a time, cycling twice a week. Look for the small event markers on the zone map; some of them fire the moment you ride past, which is exactly how people end up with three half-finished objectives and no idea where the third one is. Warleader Abdumati wipes them clean on request.
Patrols also feed Pro Poison Patroller, which wants 250 of them for the Emerald Skyfang. For what it's worth, that is a season-length count, so every patrol you skip early is one you run in October.
Strikes ask for two linked objectives, and elites are usually standing in the way. A Corroded Pouch pays 75 Corrosive Coin and 5 Veteran Mistcrest, with a side chance of Voidlight Marl or a Veteran-track piece. One strike is always up. An incursion is the only thing that takes its slot, which makes the strike the most dependable block of coin on the map for anyone farming without a group.
Three of the six run at a time and the set cycles twice a week. The full roster:
Honestly, soloing one is slower than soloing a patrol, and the coin per minute is still better. Bring one other player and the elites stop mattering.
An incursion is a chain of objectives on a ten-minute clock. Solo is not on the table. Clear it and the Corroded Satchel hands over 175 Corrosive Coin, 10 Veteran Mistcrest and better gear odds than anything below it. The cadence is fixed: a new incursion starts fifteen minutes after the last one ended, and when it does it takes over the slot the active strike was using.
Three incursions rotate: Summoning Ritual wants 21 ritual ingredients gathered and the spirit they summon killed, Cache of the Three has you claim three staves and escort their carriers home, and Supplies Must Flow is a wagon push through barricades and ambushes.
The Ancient Foe wakes immediately after a cleared incursion. Ten minutes on the clock again. Killing it drops a Venom-Drenched Sack: 200 Corrosive Coin, 10 Champion Mistcrest and a guaranteed Veteran-track piece. Your first Foe kill each week also drops a Corrosive Soul and a Venom-Cursed Fragment, so the weekly reset is the one time this fight is worth going out of your way for.
Three foes exist: Congealed Malice, Susarikk and Khu'tulak. Only one is available in any given week, and they pay identically, so there is nothing to choose between them; Oppose the Foes just takes three weeks.
You reach the Vaults early, during the Coiled Isle campaign. Proper earning starts a few quests later. Three gates lead in, all on the western half of the isle. Flying is off inside, but each entry tunnel hands you The Serpent's Path, which pushes your ground mount hard until you have fully crossed into the zone.
| Entrance | Coordinates | Where It Sits |
|---|---|---|
| Gate of the Western Fang | 31.8, 64.9 | West end of the isle, past the Forum |
| Gate of the Serpent's Eye | 43.4, 44.2 | Northern approach through Venom's Rise |
| Gate of the Eastern Fang | 45.4, 64.9 | South-west of Tokka's Landing, past the broken bridge |
Once you are inside, find Warleader Abdumati at 47.2, 60.8 or Mok'sa the Stone at 54.0, 39.6 and take Into the Vaults of Atal'Utek. That chain walks you round the flight points and switches on the zone's activities for your entire warband, which means alts skip the tour.
Two campaign steps seed the bankroll. One Coin Too Many sends you to Er'inye and pays 1,000 Corrosive Coin along with Corrode Spirit, the ability that lets you trade at all. A Toxic Tour then asks for one patrol, one strike, one incursion and one Ancient Foe, and pays 1,500 on completion. Between them that is 2,500 coin before you have farmed anything.
Which route you run depends entirely on how many other players are down there with you. Both work. One is just slower.
Park near the Amani Foothold. The ten-minute patrol refresh is your clock. Sweep the three live patrols, take the active strike on the way past, and let the mob kills between objectives pile up on their own. Sixty coin from patrols plus 75 from the strike is a 135-coin baseline per cycle, and that number climbs as the Altar's coin ranks come online.
Thing is, the strike is the piece most solo players skip because the elites look expensive. They are not, once you have a few Altar traits and the zone's temporary buffs — grab a Soulguide Charm when you pass one and the pull gets a lot shorter.
In a group, the incursion is everything. Look, a cleared incursion plus its Ancient Foe is 375 coin in two bags, on top of whatever patrols and strikes you pick up in the fifteen-minute gap between incursions. Add the strike and a patrol sweep and a full cycle lands around 470 before drops.
The incursion timer is public and the fight needs a party, so it is the thing players group up for down here. Two of the eight dailies want you in a party anyway: Shoulder to Shoulder and What's Out There?, both of which ask you in as many words to form a party with other players before they will tick. Bank them while the group exists.
Coin drops off the enemies themselves, and the density in The Underbelly at the north end of the complex is the best in the zone. Clearing serpents there stacks coin quickly. It is the one place where straight mob-killing competes with running objectives, and it is worth a lap whenever the assault cycle leaves you fifteen minutes with nothing live on the map.
The area opens up properly during the Underbelly strike. That is also where Soft Underbelly lives. That one wants five named threats: Priest of the First Rattle, Champion of the Scale, Guardian of the Sacrifice, Vserix the Sneaky and Szarith the Fanged. Three of the elites are up each time the strike runs, and Szarith is the only rare spawn in the entire Vaults, so a serpent lap that catches Szarith is doing three jobs at once.
Getting there is the annoying part. The Spectral Shipping trait adds The Underbelly and the Venomous Abyss entrance to the Amani Windcaller flight network, which turns a long ground ride through venom pools into one flight. Take it early if this is your route.
Two treasure spawns repeat across the caverns. Soulcoiler's Caches sit at ground level; Soulcoiler's Troves usually perch on ledges you reach with a Spiritwing Gust or a Feather, which is exactly why most players ride straight past them. Both mostly hold Coffer Key Shards and Voidlight Marl, and both can hold Corrosive Coin.
Four Altar of Corrosion traits pay you coin directly, which is why the tree is a farming investment rather than a cosmetic one:
One trait spends instead of earning. Venomous Sanctuary lets you pay 15 Corrosive Coin at a Shrine of the Honored Dead for a temporary safe zone, which is cheap enough to ignore in the budget and genuinely useful when an incursion goes sideways.
Quest turn-ins are the densest coin in the zone per minute spent, and most of them complete themselves while you run the assault loop anyway. Eight dailies rotate, each paying 200 Corrosive Coin, and several of them list a 250 payout instead. All of them also pay Coffer Key Shards, Voidlight Marl and an Ossified Relic. None take long.
| Quest | What It Wants | Corrosive Coin |
|---|---|---|
| Patrolling the Temple | Complete Temple Patrols | 200 |
| Relentless Strikes | Complete Temple Strikes | 200 |
| Decisive Incursions | Finish a Temple Incursion | 200 |
| From Whence it Came | Defeat an Ancient Foe | 200 |
| Bounty of the Cursed | Gather Forgotten Relics from Caches and Troves | 200 |
| Essence of Malice | Gather Malefic Venom from the depths | 200 |
| Shoulder to Shoulder | Party up and slay foes in the Vaults | 200 |
| What's Out There? | Party up and scout the Vaults | 200 |
| An Ancient Foe | Enter the Vault of Restless Bones and kill High Priest Jin'tal | 100 |
| Purging the Vaults | Weekly: one patrol, one strike, one incursion, one Ancient Foe | 1,500 |
Purging the Vaults is the single best turn-in in the zone and it costs you one lap of content you were running anyway. It also hands over a Corrosive Soul, a Trovehunter's Bounty and a Venom-Cursed Fragment, and it counts as a Tier 7 World Activity toward your Great Vault. Do it first, every week.
The zone's quest list holds more coin outside that rotation. The Honored Med'jai storyline is worth 500 Corrosive Coin across its five steps, and a further scattering of Vault quests outside the daily rotation pays between 200 and 500 each. Bonus, not a route.
Er'inye stands at 51.0, 62.6 in the Amani Foothold, next to the Altar itself. Trading coin to her buys one point of Spirit Corrosion at a time, and each point costs more than the last one did, so the ladder gets steep fast. Fifteen points, 115,000 coin all told.
| Spirit Corrosion Point | Corrosive Coin Cost | Running Total |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1,000 | 1,000 |
| 2 | 1,500 | 2,500 |
| 3 | 2,000 | 4,500 |
| 4 | 2,500 | 7,000 |
| 5 | 3,000 | 10,000 |
| 6 | 4,000 | 14,000 |
| 7 | 5,000 | 19,000 |
| 8 | 6,000 | 25,000 |
| 9 | 7,000 | 32,000 |
| 10 | 8,000 | 40,000 |
| 11 | 10,000 | 50,000 |
| 12 | 12,500 | 62,500 |
| 13 | 15,000 | 77,500 |
| 14 | 17,500 | 95,000 |
| 15 | 20,000 | 115,000 |
Six more sit outside her stock. Zul'jarra's Forces renown 8 sends you back to her with a Corrosive Relic and renown 14 with a Corrosive Bijou, one point each. Four more come from relics you find and turn in: the Lost Med'jai Amulet, the Feather of Tok'jara, the Mummified Lynx's Paw and the Eye of Szarith. That is 21 points in total, and Fully Corroded only wants 20 of them spent across the tree's 18 nodes, so one point is spare.
Look at the top of the tree. Those four icons are Corrosive Spirit I through IV, and you do not buy them — each one switches on by itself as you work down the tree. They pay 25%, then 50%, then 75%, then 100% more Corrosive Coin from every source in the zone, and the first one lands early enough that it is working for you long before the tree is finished.
Frankly, that changes the whole budget. Every point you buy early makes the next one cheaper in real time, and the vendor's 103,250 total turns from a month of grinding into a weekend. Buying a 10,000-coin mount before the first coin rank is the single most expensive mistake available in this zone.
Two warnings on the tree. Points spent on a character cannot be refunded, though you can flip a choice node back and forth freely, so plan the pathing before you commit. And the four choice nodes stay invisible until you find their relic and hand it to Er'inye, which catches people who think the tree is bugged at 19 of 20.
The Skull of Er'inye sits beside the Altar and takes coin for cosmetics. Twenty-seven lines sit in her stock, none of them gated behind reputation, and only one asks for an achievement first: the decor replica of the Altar itself. The mount is the headline. No joke, though, the decor is where the pile actually goes.
Clearing the whole list costs 103,250 Corrosive Coin. Add the Altar's 115,000 and the zone's full shopping bill lands at 218,250, which is why the coin ranks matter so much more than any individual purchase.
Er'inye herself sells one item, and it runs the other way: a Satchel of Corrosive Coins for a single Corrosive Soul. It needs eight Corrosive Powers unlocked before she will trade, and a September hotfix dropped the Unique tag, so a stack of spare souls now converts in one sitting instead of one satchel at a time. Spare souls only. Souls you still need for Corrosive Powers are worth far more as powers.
Everything else the zone hands out sits in the wider zone guide: the renown track, the fishing, the achievement list.
Vaults of Atal'Utek Full Zone GuideNo — Corrosive Coin has no maximum quantity and no weekly earn limit. Farm as long as you like.
Yes. It is warbound and transfers in full, so alts spend from the same pile. The Spirit Corrosion points you buy also unlock warband-wide, but the points you spend into the tree are per character.
In a group, the incursion into Ancient Foe chain at 375 coin per cycle. Solo, the three-patrol sweep plus the active strike, at 135 per ten-minute cycle. Neither is close without the Altar. Both scale with the Altar's coin ranks, so the fastest thing you can do on day one is stop spending on cosmetics and buy Spirit Corrosion points instead.
She only sells fifteen points, and the fifteenth costs 20,000. The remaining six come from Zul'jarra's Forces renown 8 and 14 and from four relic turn-ins, which is why the tree can sit at 19 of 20 with nothing left to buy.
The Altar. Working down the tree switches on four coin ranks worth 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% more Corrosive Coin from every source in the zone, so points bought early pay for the cosmetics later. The Caustic Venomfang is not going anywhere.
No — the objective chain runs on a ten-minute clock and needs a party at minimum. Patrols solo easily and strikes are manageable alone with a decent build.
Nothing announced says they convert or expire. Spend them on the Altar and the vendor while the Vaults are current content rather than banking a pile against a rule that has not been published.
One of Congealed Malice, Susarikk or Khu'tulak, rotating weekly. They pay the same bag, so there is no reason to wait for a particular one.
Yes, on top of activity rewards and treasures. The Underbelly at the north end of the complex has the density worth farming, and two Altar traits raise what enemies pay out.
