What is Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols?
Murmuring Obols is a new currency in Diablo IV that can be spent on a chance at a gear upgrade. This is Diablo IV's gambling system; in Diablo IV, gambling will no longer require Gold, just Obols. This means you can gamble freely with your Obols without fear of needing them for other content. Obols have no other use.
Murmuring Obols have a maximum stack count, meaning you can't pick up once you have reached your limit. Because of this, there is no use in hoarding Obols. Make sure to spend them before you reach your limit.
You may receive your Obols as a Murmuring Cache. This item goes into your inventory and only gives you your Obols when used. Murmuring Caches contain 50 Obols. If you are concerned about hitting your limit, wait to open Murmuring Caches until you make room for your Obols.
When you first start, the maximum number of Obols you can carry is 500. Alters of Lilith or Zone Renown can increase D4 Murmuring Obols limit. Each Alter of Lilith you find will increase your Obol limit by 5. Earning Renown in zones can also reward you with an Obol maximum limit increase. You can see your Renown Rewards for a zone by pressing W with your map open.
These maximum Obol limit increases are Accountwide, so you will only need to earn them on one character for each character to benefit.
How to get Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols?
Obols can be looted from most random Events in Sanctuary. These include World Events, The Gathering Legions Zone Events, and Cursed Object Events in Dungeons and Cellars. It is easier to farm Obols with a proper group. But, if you don't have enough friends, or they don't seem interested in Diablo IV, or don't want to farm Obols with you, just buy Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols Farm and get as many Obols as you need fast and easy!
What can I buy with Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols?
There is only one place to spend your Murmuring Obols, and that is at the Purveyor of Curiosities, which can be found in most major towns. This vendor only sells two types of goods: gear type tokens and Whispering Keys. The only currency that the Purveyor of Curiosities accepts is Obols.
- Gear type tokens vary in price from 25 to 75 Obols. Once you purchase a token, it will turn into a random gear piece of that type. It may be trash, one thing you've been looking for, or anything in between, but it will always correspond to the item type you purchased. Unlike in previous Diablo games, this gambling system will help you with gearing but will not be a good source for the best gear in the game.
- Whispering Keys are items that can be stored in the Consumables tab of your Inventory. These keys can be purchased for 20 Obols each and are used to open Silent Chests. These chests can be found all over Sanctuary. They are not super rare, but they are rare enough that having a few keys on hand is a good idea if you come across one.
