Campsites, also called Warband backgrounds or campfire screens, are the scenes behind your character list — the backdrop you look at every time you log in. Warbands arrived in The War Within with a single scene; patch 11.1 turned that into a real collection with a picker, camp groups and four more screens, and Midnight has pushed the count to ten, from a quiet Earthen village to the casino floor of the Gallagio, each with its own unlock route.
Two of the ten are free. The rest are earned: one is a vendor purchase paid in delve currency, three sit behind meta-achievements, two come from a single housing quest that pays out both at once, and two come from Silvermoon quests. Every unlock applies to your whole Warband, and none of them is time-limited anymore, so a fresh collector can still reach all ten campsite screens, exact routes included below.
Ten screens are collectible. The table gives the short version of every source; the sections after it walk each unlock in detail, screen by screen.
| Campsite | Added | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
| Adventurer's Rest | 11.0 | Included with the Warband system; everyone has it from the start. |
| Ohn'ahran Overlook | 11.1 | Free: added to your collection automatically when you log in. |
| Cultists' Quay | 11.1 | Buy the Nightfall Sanctum Campsite from Sir Finley Mrrgglton in Dornogal for 10,000 Undercoin. |
| Freywold Spring | 11.1 | Earn All That Khaz, the Khaz Algar exploration meta-achievement. |
| Gallagio Grand Gallery | 11.1 | Earn Going Goblin Mode, the Undermine zone meta-achievement. |
| The Fate of the Devoured | 11.2 | Earn The Knife's Edge by finishing the five K'aresh storylines. |
| Founder's Point | 12.0 | Complete the housing quest This Old Hearth; the reward covers both neighborhood screens. |
| Razorwind Shores | 12.0 | Same quest: the Neighborhood Campsites item unlocks both at once. |
| Silvermoon City | New in 12.1 | Complete the weekly Unity Against the Void from Lady Liadrin. Each completion awards one Silvermoon Citizen's Emblem; combine four to establish the campsite. |
| Silvermoon in Void | New in 12.1 | Complete Trailing Xal'atath from Vereesa Windrunner, gathering 100 Fading Voidwhispers each time. Each completion awards one Void Vestige; combine four to unlock the campsite. |
Every source below triggers for your entire account the moment it lands, so pick whichever character is best suited for the job. If you played through The War Within, odds are half of this list is already sitting in your collection: the meta-achievements went live across patches 11.1 and 11.2, and progress from that era counts in full.
The two run concurrently, so there is no reason to pick one first. Unity Against the Void is the weekly, which puts a four-week floor on Silvermoon City; the void version moves as fast as you farm Voidwhispers.
Adventurer's Rest is the original screen: a forest glade with a tent, a cooking fire, and a waterfall in the back. It comes bundled with the Warband system itself. No steps required. Ohn'ahran Overlook, a green riverside lifted from the Ohn'ahran Plains of Dragonflight, was the patch 11.1 giveaway and still drops into the collection of any account that logs in, with no quest, no vendor and no achievement attached to it. Both are simply there; the collecting starts with the next eight.
The moodiest screen of the set: your characters stand on a wooden dock inside a dark cavern, a ghostly airship hanging in the gloom behind them. The scene is the Nightfall Sanctum delve from Hallowfall, which explains the one confusing part of this unlock — the item that grants it is called Nightfall Sanctum Campsite, while the collection screen lists the result as Cultists' Quay. Same screen, two names. Don't let it throw you.
Originally this was the final-milestone reward of the Season 2 Delver's Journey back in The War Within, sold for a handful of Resonance Crystals by Reno Jackson once you had climbed the track. That season is long gone, and the campsite entry in your collection still points at it — which is why this one gets written off as unobtainable. It isn't.
The catch-up route is plain currency shopping: Sir Finley Mrrgglton, the Delve Treasures vendor standing a few steps from Reno in Dornogal, sells the same item outright for 10,000 Undercoin with no rank requirement attached. Undercoin comes from The War Within delves, so a stretch of bountiful runs across Khaz Algar covers the bill.
A stone Earthen village on a stream, tucked into the Isle of Dorn. This one is the biggest time investment on the list: it rewards All That Khaz, the exploration meta for the whole of Khaz Algar, which itself asks for six achievements:
Anyone who mained through The War Within has most of these done. For everyone else the two real walls are the Loremaster and the four-faction Renown climb; the glyphs, flight points, and lore objects together are an afternoon of flying with a map addon.
String lights over the card tables, and a golden Gallywix statue at the far end: this screen parks your characters inside the Gallagio, Gallywix's casino in Undermine and one of the wings you fight through in the Liberation of Undermine raid. It rewards Going Goblin Mode, the zone meta for Undermine, and every criterion stays inside one city:
Compared to All That Khaz this is a light project; one focused weekend in Undermine with a treasure addon clears it.
The most dramatic backdrop of the ten: your Warband camps in Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, with a swirling Void portal filling half the sky over K'aresh. The in-game blurb sells it as a market with "great smelling street food, the latest ethereal transmogrifications, and an explosive view" — accurate on all three counts.
The screen rewards The Knife's Edge, which asks you to complete the five K'aresh campaign storylines from patch 11.2: A Shadowy Invitation, Desert Power, The Light of K'aresh, Void Alliance, and Shadows En Garde. That is the whole Ghosts of K'aresh story arc played start to finish, several evenings of questing. None of it is hard. The achievement pops account-wide on the last turn-in.
The two Midnight additions move your camp straight into the housing neighborhoods: Founder's Point puts Alliance characters on a lamplit street of blue-roofed cottages, and Razorwind Shores gives the Horde a red-desert shoreline with cacti and totem gates. One unlock covers both: the reward item works regardless of which faction earned it.
The source is the housing questline. Claim a plot through the portal rooms of Stormwind or Orgrimmar, settle in, and your neighborhood's Steward (Lyssabel Dawnpetal in Founder's Point, Tocho Cloudhide in Razorwind Shores) eventually offers This Old Hearth, whose single objective is to take your house up a level. Do that, and the Neighborhood Campsites item lands in your bags; one click teaches both screens.
Housing itself is a far bigger system than one quest (plots, neighborhoods, decor sources, house levels), and the full breakdown lives in a separate guide:
WoW Midnight Player Housing GuideCampsites live on the character select screen. The Campsites button in the top navigation bar opens the picker; choose a screen and apply it to the camp group you're looking at, or to every group at once. Favorites work from the same window: right-click any unlocked screen to star it, and the Randomize From Favorites tile rolls one of your starred scenes on each login instead of a fixed backdrop.
Camp groups are the other half of the feature. Your Warband list splits into camps of up to four characters each, with a cap of 20 groups; the plus icon in the top-right corner of the character list adds a group, right-clicking a group header renames or deletes it, and characters drag between camps freely. Each camp remembers its own campsite. So the raid mains can sit in Tazavesh while the housing alts warm themselves in Founder's Point.
In-game, campsites have their own tab in the Collections journal, sitting last in the row after Mounts, Pet Journal, Toy Box, Heirlooms and Appearances. Locked screens show as greyed-out previews under their own names, and a Show Collected Only checkbox at the bottom of the panel hides them once you would rather browse what you own than what you don't.
None of this touches gameplay. A campsite changes nothing about the characters standing in it and nothing about what waits for them once they zone in; it is the frame around your character list and nothing more. Finish the collection once and it quietly pays off on every login after.
