The Great Vault is a hotly loved by players weekly ticket to top-tier loot from raids, Mythic+ dungeons, and open-world activities. It offers you a guaranteed choice of powerful rewards based on your weekly progress, turning every action into potential progression. Mastering this system is the key to consistently gearing up and staying ahead of the curve. In the guide below, you will find all you need to know about M+ weekly Vault rewards in Midnight.
The Great Vault is the main source of the high-tier guaranteed items which works like a bad-luck protection system. Even if you don’t get any item during your weekly raid and dungeon runs, your efforts transform into Great Vault rewards. More activities you completed during the week – more items of your choice you will get after the reset.
The Great Vault allows you to earn rewards completing the three different objectives:
Rewards you can get depend on the loot available from the completed objectives. The item level of rewards scales depending on the difficulty of the completed encounters.
Talking about Mythic+ rewards, the first becomes available after your first dungeon run of the week. Completing the more dungeon runs you can unlock up to three items to choose from. And be aware, that Great Vault Mythic+ rewards item level always higher than End-of-dungeon loot. Also, Mythic+ Great Vault slots allows you to acquire tier set items without killing the raid bosses.
To find the Great Vault in the Midnight expansion, head to the bank in the neutral sector of Silvermoon (/way 50.2 66.2).
Horde players can use their alternative in the Horde part of the city at /way 71.8 65.1. But be aware, that you won’t find an attendant Vaultkeeper there who can be useful in some cases.
The Great Vault refresh is tied to the weekly server resets: Tuesdays at 15:00 UTC for US, Latin and Oceanic servers, and Wednesdays at 04:00 UTC for European servers. Once reset is completed, you can head to the Great Vault to pick one of the well-earned rewards.
As mentioned, you can unlock up to three items to choose from by completing weekly key runs. There are three available objectives tied to Mythic+ system:
Be aware that Mythic+ objectives can be completed on Heroic, Mythic, Mythic+, or even Timewalking difficulties (Timewalking dungeons are equal to Heroic). But the best possible rewards wait for you on Mythic+ level, of course.
Once you kill the last boss of the dungeon, your Mythic+ run is taken into account of the Great Vault system. Years ago developers informed players that even if you couldn’t beat the timer, you would be able to acquire your loot at the start of the next week.
So, even if you understand that your group can’t complete the dungeon run in time, there is a reason to finish the instance to fill the scale and enhance the number of items to choose from and maximize Great Vault rewards.
You can complete all three Mythic+ Great Vault objectives by clearing the same dungeon time after time. Even more, you can run it on the same key level. All you have to do is to match the requirements we discussed above.
It means that you can complete the weekly Great Vault objectives while you try to loot some BiS item from a specific dungeon without wasting your time on completing every key from the seasonal pool.
Some players prefer to start the weekly runs from the completing the acquired at the start of the week key and clear all obtained after. Others spam one dungeon hunting for a specific drop. But there are several tactics for players who just want to rapidly complete all Mythic+ Great Vault objectives.
The easiest way is completing the low keys especially if you have a well-equipped character who can blast down packs of enemies. In this case, you can complete 8 dungeon runs in 2-3 hours and forget about Mythic+ mode till the next week.
This is the best option if you are not interested in gear, but want to acquire Thalassian Token of Merit. These items can be used for purchasing various valuable items from the Great Vault attendant. In detail we will talk about it in the text below.
If you are still interested in Great Vault gear rewards, your best tactic is to complete the easiest seasonal dungeon on +10 or +12 (to maximise the number of Dawncrests) difficulty. Talking about the current season, statics tells that the best choice for Mythic+ quick runs is two dungeons:
Be aware that this impressive data was taken from +15 keys. It means that completing the Skyreach or Magister’s Terrace on +10 or +12 difficulty will be an even easier task.
As mentioned, the loot from the Great Vault will depend on dungeons completed during the week. Item level will be tied to the difficulty of the completed dungeons. But be aware that if you completed only one dungeon on +10 level and all others on +8 level, for example, you will choose from the one item of 272 ilvl and two of 269 ilvl. Now, let’s take a look at the detailed table.
Mythic+ Great Vault allows you to get gear up to 272 item level depending on your completed keys:
| Key Difficulty | Item Level |
|---|---|
| Mythic +2 | 259 |
| Mythic +3 | 259 |
| Mythic +4 | 263 |
| Mythic +5 | 263 |
| Mythic +6 | 266 |
| Mythic +7 | 269 |
| Mythic +8 | 269 |
| Mythic +9 | 269 |
| Mythic +10 | 272 |
Starting from +10 level you won’t get better items, but +12 level is still valuable because of the number of Dawncrests.
Traditionally, raid loot is the most valuable PvE gear in the game. While the Mythic+ gear upgrade ends at +10 key level and rewards you with 266 ilvl equipment, Mythic raids is a source of 272-282 item level gear. The Great Vault makes dungeon runs more profitable because of the rewards of higher levels up to 272 ilvl. But anyway, you should try to mix high keys with Mythic raids to empower your character.
Even if you unlock all possible nine slots of the Great Vault rewards, you will be able to get only one item. That’s why it is important to choose wisely what item can empower your character the most. Down below, we’ll discuss the basic rules of choosing the rewards.
In most cases, you should stick to the specific order based on the drop chance of items. The Great Vault can save your time, so it is better to firstly choose the item which can cost you dozens of the dungeon runs. The best priority order looks that way:
The last point is the standard situation you will face closer to the end of the season. But there is another option we already talked about above.
As mentioned, when you don’t need any item from the Great Vault chest, you can take the Thalassian Token of Merit items for exchanging them into powerful improvements which can suit you. Depending on the number of completed objectives, you can get the specific number of tokens:
Be aware that the maximum number of tokens you can carry is equal to 12.
To exchange tokens, you should talk to the Great Vault attendant nearby. Current attendant is Vaultkeeper Elysa. In the table below you will find all goods Elysa offers:
Choose wisely!
If you still need to get geared and can’t choose the right item, your best plan is to use the Simulationcraft addon which shows you in numbers what item will empower your character the most. The short instruction for the addon:
After a while you will get the details about the best gear to have equipped from your Great Vault rewards.
