The mount is guaranteed once the interaction is successful, but the real challenge lies in finding the rare NPC itself, as it spawns infrequently and remains active for only a short time.
To obtain the Fabious mount, you need to find the rare NPC Fabious in Nazjatar and take a selfie with it using the S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera or S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII.
A regular screenshot will not work. The mount is only awarded when using the toy correctly, and in some cases you may need to take multiple selfies before it appears in your inventory.
Before you can begin hunting Fabious, you must first unlock access to Nazjatar:
To obtain the Fabious mount, you must use the S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera or its upgraded version, the S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII. This is a required step — without the toy, you will not be able to trigger the mount reward, even if you find Fabious.
The camera is obtained through the quest Light Camera Action, which is available to both factions in their capital cities. For Horde, the quest is given by Vivica Starshot in Orgrimmar, while Alliance players can pick it up from Arielle Snapflash in Stormwind near the Embassy area.
The quest itself is very quick and only takes a few minutes to complete. Once finished, you will receive the camera as a toy, which can then be used anywhere, including Nazjatar.
While both versions of the camera work for capturing Fabious, many players prefer using the MkII version due to its improved interface and additional features. However, for the purpose of obtaining the mount, either version is completely sufficient.
Fabious has a spawn timer of approximately 2–8 hours and appears along the outer edges of Nazjatar. It spawns from the water wall, swims a short path for about 1–2 minutes, and then despawns.
The NPC is neutral and completely immune to damage and crowd control, meaning you cannot interact with it through combat. The only way to obtain the mount is to take a selfie during its short active window.
Multiple players can obtain the mount from a single spawn, as long as they successfully take a selfie before Fabious despawns. There are currently four confirmed spawn points known, as follows:
