The Caustic Venomfang is a deadly, acid-drenched wind serpent whose corrosive scales and venomous presence embody the lethal magic of the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Its sickly green coloration, dripping with potent toxins, make it a favourite among collectors who appreciate mounts with a menacing, alchemical aesthetic. The flavour text speaks to its deadly nature: "This venomfang's toxins are potent enough to liquidate its prey in seconds." For collectors who value prestige and the satisfaction of a long-term grind, this mount is a true trophy — a symbol of your mastery over the Vaults' most challenging content.
Introduced in patch 12.1.0 as part of the Midnight Season 2 update, the Caustic Venomfang is the ultimate reward for those willing to immerse themselves in the Vaults of Atal'Utek's endgame loop. This mount isn't about luck or rare spawns — it's a pure test of persistence, rewarded through a structured system of repeatable activities, daily quests, and zone-wide events. The journey requires a significant time investment, but every Temple Patrol, Strike, and Incursion brings you measurably closer to your goal. For players who find satisfaction in steady progression and want a mount that reflects their dedication to mastering the Vaults' content, the Caustic Venomfang is one of the most prestigious trophies Midnight Season 2 has to offer.
The Caustic Venomfang is purchased from the Skull of Er'inye in the Vaults of Atal'Utek for 10,000 Corrosive Coins. This is a 100% guaranteed acquisition — there is no RNG involved, no rare spawns to camp, and no low drop rates to overcome. Simply earn the required currency and buy the mount.
Important: Corrosive Coins are a Warbound currency, meaning you can pool them from all your characters to accelerate your progress toward the mount. However, the currency is exclusive to the Vaults of Atal'Utek — you cannot earn it anywhere else.
Before you start farming, we highly recommend upgrading the Altar of Corrosion first. The Altar offers talents that increase the amount of Corrosive Coins you earn by up to 100%, making the grind significantly faster. Spending coins on the Altar early may feel like slowing your progress toward the mount, but it pays off in the long run.
Before you can begin farming Corrosive Coins, you must first gain access to The Coiled Isle. The island becomes available during the main campaign questline The Curse of Ula'tek in Patch 12.1.0 during Chapter 2. The quest What Lies Beyond the Fog sends you to the island.
Once you've completed the introductory questline, you are able to fly over to the island on every character that is part of your Warband. If you haven't completed the campaign on your main character, you will need to do so before you can access the island on your alts.
As you progress through the main campaign, you will automatically unlock access to the Vaults of Atal'Utek, the subterranean heart of the island's repeatable content. The Vaults serve as the primary hub for Corrosive Coin farming, housing Temple Patrols, Strikes, Incursions, and the Altar of Corrosion. No additional quests are required — simply follow the campaign until the Vaults become available, and you'll have full access to all activities needed to earn Corrosive Coins.
Corrosive Coins can be collected from a variety of sources: defeating enemies, looting treasures, and completing activities within the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Below are the most reliable methods.
In the Amani Foothold, you can pick up daily and weekly quests. Daily quests reward approximately 200 Corrosive Coins each. Weekly quests, such as Purging the Vaults, reward additional coins and are essential for long-term progress.
Temple Patrols are the easiest activity to complete on your own inside the Vaults. While they are easy to solo, they only reward a small amount of Corrosive Coins — around a baseline of 20 per patrol.
There are three patrols active every 10 minutes, meaning you can farm approximately 60 Corrosive Coins every 10 minutes, in addition to any you get as drops from enemies during the patrol.
Temple Strikes are more difficult than Temple Patrols and usually involve defeating elite enemies while completing objectives such as destroying eggs, disrupting rituals, or clearing specific areas. You can solo these, but they are much more difficult than Patrols, so we highly recommend doing them as a group.
One Strike will be active at a time, unless a Temple Incursion is currently active instead. They reward a base of 75 Corrosive Coins every time they are completed. Completing these as a group is a very efficient farm for Corrosive Coins.
Temple Incursions happen at the end of a Temple Strike, roughly every 15 minutes, and have a lot of objectives that will all need to be completed by a group within 10 minutes.
These reward the largest amount of Corrosive Coins, with 175 baseline per completion. If your group is successful at completing the Temple Incursion, it will spawn an Ancient Foe, which if defeated will reward an additional baseline 200 Corrosive Coins.
Ancient Foes spawn after successful Temple Incursions and are powerful elite enemies that rotate weekly. Defeating an Ancient Foe rewards a Venom-Drenched Sack containing Corrosive Coins, gear, and other rewards. They are also a source of Venom-Cursed Fragments, which can be combined for additional rewards.
The Altar of Corrosion is a zone progression system that grants exploration, combat, mobility, and reward bonuses throughout the Vaults of Atal'Utek and the Coiled Isle. Spend Corrosive Coins to unlock various abilities in a custom talent tree at the Altar.
