In previous expansions, acquiring Hellfire Infernal used to be simple: you only needed to make a level 1 character on the target realm, buy enough gold, place a bid, win the auction, and Hellfire Infernal instantly became yours. Now, it requires a max level character, which is impossible to level from scratch on the target realm in the short time between detecting the item and the auction's end. The only viable way is to transfer your character and hope for luck.
Character transfers are not free. Therefore, success heavily depends on knowing historical BMAH prices and the level of competition on each realm. Needless to say, buying Hellfire Infernal from PRO players with solid experience and a large stock of gold on many realms is your easiest way to add these legacy items to your collection!
BMAH option: obtaining Fiendish Hellfire Core takes 4-6 weeks if you choose the BMAH option.

Hellfire Infernal drops from Gul'Dan raid boss which means it cannot be farmed non-stop with a single character; there's a raid cooldown of 1 week so farming it with one or a small number of characters will likely take a while. An easy way to stack odds in your favor is to prepare more characters of sufficient level and start doing weekly Nighthold runs with each of them. Let's do some math and assume you're trying to get a sample 1% drop chance mount from some raid. This is what your chance of success after 2 months looks like depending on the number of characters you've got:
