Path of Exile 2 Breach League Guide

Updated 03 Apr 2025 | Author: Poizy | ~4 min

This guide covers the essentials of farming Breach in Path of Exile 2, including its rewards and how to face the pinnacle encounter by facing Xesht, We That Are One. It also highlights the best Atlas Passive Nodes to optimize your currency generation.

How it Works

While progressing through Waystones on your Atlas, you will encounter maps that contain Breach encounters. These maps feature a Breach Hand, which, when stepped through, opens a gateway to the Breach world. Inside, you must defeat waves of Breach monsters. The more enemies you slay, the longer the encounter lasts, increasing the number of monsters that spawn. Additionally, Breach Hands may appear, dropping extra loot when you run over them.

Exclusive Rewards:

  • Catalysts: Used to enhance the Quality of Rings and Amulets.
  • Breach Splinters: Used to create a Breachstone.

How to Run

Breach is straightforward—run over the Breach Hand to initiate the encounter and defeat the enemies before they overwhelm you.Monsters spawn along the edges, so clearing from the center outward ensures better control of the fight. Staying near the Breach's edges can be dangerous, as more enemies will appear in proximity.

Pro Tip:

Keep an eye out for Clasped Hands, which spawn randomly during the encounter. Running over them releases loot, including Catalysts and Breach Splinters.

Pinnacle Boss: Xesht

Like other Atlas mechanics in Path of Exile 2's early access, Breach has a Pinnacle Boss encounter. Collect 300 Breach Splinters and combine them to form a Breachstone, which can be placed into the Realmgate at the center of your Atlas. This opens a portal to the Breach realm, where you face Xesht, We That Are One.

Xesht’s Abilities and How to Dodge Them

  • Crushing Palm: A massive hand slams down on your position. Watch for its shadow to dodge.
  • Xoph/Esh/Tul Abilities: Various elemental attacks that require dodging or movement.
  • Chaos Cannon: A volley of Chaos attacks. Dodge or stay close to Xesht.
  • Physical Barrage: A heavy physical attack with a long wind-up. Move behind the boss.
  • Crawling Hands: Xesht burrows and tracks the player before clapping hands together. Escape in time.
  • Crushing Fists: At 50% HP, multiple Breach Hands slam down. Carefully time dodges.

Atlas Passives

Upon defeating Xesht, We That Are One at each difficulty level, you will gain 2 Breach Atlas Points (up to 8)

  • Grasping Hands: More Clasped Hands with additional Magic Monsters.
  • Waking Nightmare: Doubles Breach Splinters from Clasped Hands.
  • Frantic Invasion: More Splinters but 20% more damage taken in Breaches.
  • Rising Pyre: +40% monster density in Breaches.
  • Crumbling Walls: Higher chance of additional Breaches.
  • Xesht's Madness: More Catalysts but much harder encounters.
  • Interdimensional Assault: Denser Breaches but shorter duration.
  • Sustained Siege: Slower Breach closure.

Recommended Atlas Nodes

  • Crumbling Walls: Adds extra Breaches to maps.
  • This allows your maps to contain extra Breaches. It’s particularly useful if you’re running Breach Tablets with strong modifiers, since you’ll be able to clear even more Breaches while those modifiers are in effect.

  • Grasping Hands: More loot (respec after third passive set).
  • Pick this second for some extra loot, but make sure to respec it once you unlock your third set of passive points.

  • Rising Pyre: Higher monster density.
  • This greatly boosts the number of monsters that appear in your Breach. Afterward, respec Grasping Hands and switch to Frantic Invasion.

  • Interdimensional Assault or Sustained Siege: Choose based on build strength.
  • The fourth option really comes down to how strong your build is. If you can consistently clear the entire Breach, go with Interdimensional Assault. If you're having trouble clearing most of it, choose Sustained Siege instead. And if you’re somewhere in between, just re-allocate Grasping Hands for balance.
